Do you use waterproof mascara regularly? All the time? Only on special occasions?

I tend to only use waterproof mascara if there’s an occasion that would call for it myself!

Most of the time. I keep non-waterproof on hand for days when I’m wearing very little makeup or if I’ll only be wearing it for a few hours. But the rest of the time I use waterproof. It gives me the most dramatic lashes, holds the curl the best, and wears the best for me.

I’ve gotten to the point that I use waterproof everyday. If you use a formula that isn’t to hard to remove it’s handy because if it rains or you happen to burst into a crying spell you don’t have to worry so much. Convenient 😀

If you have straight lashes, waterproof mascaras hold the curl better created with an eyelash curler than regular formulas. I use mostly waterproof. Helena Rubinstein’s Lash Queen waterproof in Feline Black is my favorite at the moment. It works on any lash type.

In the summer I wear it everyday. It’s just too hot during the day so if I don’t wear waterproof mascara it seems to smudge. Other than summer, I don’t find it necessary to wear it on a daily basis (:

Nia Avatar

Always!
Partly because of the non-smudge aspect, also holds curl much better after I use my eyelash curlers (I have very straight lashes) and mainly because living in London, we get a lot of rain.. which ruins your hair and make up in minutes if you get caught without your umbrella! At least this way I don’t get panda eyes 🙂

Shealyn Avatar

this! i live in a very rainy/wet/cold place as well and any sort of moisture or wind making your eyes run…panda eyes would be a common occurrence if not for my waterproof lashblast 🙂

Connie Avatar

almost everyday… the non-waterproof of my fave mascara (Maybelline Turbo Boost) doesn’t work as well at holding up a curl. Thus, I have no choice :-/ Plus, the wet hot and humid climate here usually calls for waterproof

Rita Avatar

Yes, definately. Waterproof or similar, like weatherproof. Funny enough, some mascaras are more waterproof than some ‘waterproof’ ones. Also, sometimes it is difficult to find out if a mascara is waterproof or not. Don’t understand why.

Only if I know I’ll need it because it’s such a pain to remove. But at the moment out of my two brown mascaras, I’m really not liking the normal one, so sometimes when I don’t want black I’ll just use the WP and deal with it later. 🙂 Good question!

I do wear waterproof quite often. I’m always getting smudges on the my bottom lastline. I still get them with waterproof just not as bad. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Aniroc Avatar

I do tend to wear waterproof mascara becuase the non-waterproof ends up melting and smudging under my lower lash line even when I am not even wearing liner there. The waterpoof ones do on occasion melt, but not as much.

I don’t use waterproof mascaras,I don’t like the formula,the smell,the oily feeling,and removing them is pure pain for the lashes.I don’t have any smudge problems with non-waterproof mascaras,so I stick with them.If rarely there’s an occasion then I use a regular mascara,and Fix Mascara from Clarins.It’s wonderful,it makes the non-waterproof mascara waterproof,makes the color deeper,I love it:D:D:D:D

Yes, I think my lashes are too long or something because I get raccoon eyes when I don’t use WP mascara..
I layer a WP mascara over a non WP mascara, I tell myself it not as harsh on the lashes.

I only use waterproof mascara if I am wearing heavy eye makeup simply because if my eyes water, for whatever reason, you can only imagine what a huge mess that is going to make.

lunatwinkle Avatar

Everyday! I have short, straight, and sparse lashes and only waterproof mascara will hold a curl, since the formula contains more wax in it. 😀

Anitacska Avatar

I usually just use normal mascara as waterproof is so much harder to remove. Only use waterproof if I go to the beach, swimming pool or if I have an optician appointment. My regular mascara (Guerlain Le 2) is so great, it doesn’t smudge or flake at all.

Darrien Avatar

Only for special occasions and when I know I might get a little sappy, but for everyday I just wear regular mascara. My favorite for waterproof is DiorShow Waterproof stays on like a charm.

sharon Avatar

yes.. all the time.. the other ones base of water cant hold my lashes at all… i use a spoon and a eyelash curler to hold them up and only waterproff mascaras ..

my lashes seems like the cow ones.. straight and down.. heheh

Leila Avatar

Everyday. 🙂 It’s always humid where I live, even during the winters so my mascara always tends to run and disappear. It’s not really a pain for me to remove though!

Wilcoa Avatar

Ditto I try to use waterproof only if it’s needed… or if I’m walking in the dead of winter since my eyes tend to water – I’ve learnt my lesson the hard way ;P Otherwise I may use it on my bottom lashes in case of tears.

Sally Avatar

YES, YES, YES! It holds curl better than any other mascara out there and with a good eye-makeup remover it wipes off clean and simple. Its the best!

ocelot1 Avatar

yes, because its basically the only thing that holds a curl on my stick straight lashes. even still, some waterproof formulas dont hold a curl! its frustrating…

ocelot1 Avatar

oh- i hit submit too soon; my faves are maybelline colossal wp, cover girl lash blast wp. i am waiting for cover girl lash blast length to come out with a wp & want to try mayb stiletto wp. i WISH mac’s plushlash was in wp!! i usually wear plushlash over cover girl lash blast wp to plump up my lashes.

Evelyn Avatar

I ONLY use waterproof. My lashes don’t hold a curl at all with regular mascara. I’ve grown used to the work needed to remove it at the end of the day.

victoria Avatar

i don’t use them because they’re hard to remove but lately i’ve been using cleansing oil to remove my smokey eye makeup that i’ve been sporting lately. since cleansing oil removes tough makeup perhaps i will try them this time, any suggestions?

somehow my comment got lost:S

Waterproof mascara is so terrible for your lashes. Even if you have a good make-up remover, it is still very hard on your sensitive lashes. It rips mine clear out even when I am gentle removing with an oil-based or non-oil-based remover. I pretty much never use waterproof anything. I may consider it on my wedding day but that is about it! I just find it too damaging, so I avoid it at all costs. I suppose if I had a problem with smudging–which thankfully I do not–I would feel differently. But as I have never had a problem with non-waterproof mascara smudging, I will stick with it! 🙂

Vonvon Avatar

In our hot and humid weather, I have no choice but to wear waterproof mascara whenever possible, that is almost everyday. I wouldn’t want to end up looking like a panda at the end of the day.

Nicole Avatar

I use Maybelline Full n Soft waterproof everyday–I’d prefer using a non-waterproof formula, but they never seem to hold the curl in my lashes! I’m blessed with long lashes and cursed because they’re stick-straight, impossible to curl lashes!

Jackie Avatar

i used to wear it daily but its a hassle to take off and i feel like more eyelashes fall out when i use it.. i love my lashes and i don’t wanna cause them to fall out! i stick to regular unless its a special occasion

sunny Avatar

I dont because I use diorshow mascara and it doesnt smudge at all and it doesnt flake so no need to use the waterproof stuff! well maybe when its 105 out but other than that nope lol

kpenn09 Avatar

Ughhh I hate waterproof mascaras. I find that they flake and never lengthen my lashes the way non-waterproof does. I especially find them annoying to remove, as no method that I’ve found prevents me from pulling out some lashes and waking up with raccoon eyes in the morning.

Shay Avatar

its a weird question. I thot we shld always wear waterproof. Never know if we wld be caught in the rain or cry (from cutting onions or putting eye drops if not really crying).

Seems like people don’t wear wp becoz they can’t find a good eye makeup remover? I use Clinique’s take the day off and Lancome’s bi-facil…they’re fab!
