We don't want to set expectations and then disappoint readers as even products that are swatched don't always end up being reviewed due to time constraints and changes in priorities! I remember having a face serum from the Vitamin C range from Body Shop. I thought it was perfect! It smoothed out all my pores and provided comfortable moisturizing 🙂 Although you do have to massage it in gently for a while before it gets fully absorbed or you’ll end up with a greasy face. But once you massage it in, it’s bliss, I tell you. Damn, I miss it!
Why do you miss it? Is it discontinued?! It sounds great!
I use MAC’s Moisturelush eye cream, which I love. It kinda gives a slight sheen under the eye, which is good for dark circles. I also love Neutrogena’s Healthy Defense daily moisturizer SPF 30…definitely always need that sun protection!
I have this, but I never use it, hmm, maybe I should start!
Imperiaus; “The Majestic Moisturiser”
Out of all the moisturisers I have used, this is the best yet. What I love about, it is handmade; there is a label giving you the date it was made and when to use by.
Great for faces that are oily in places and dry in others; thats me =D All those dry icky spots had over my eyebrows are gone. Loving it!
I have never heard of it! I will have to take a look into it.
I use only things I know to be effective in what they claim on a real scientific basis, I tend not to fall for hype when it comes to skincare. Some effective (i.e. researched and proven) ingredients are: Salicylic Acid, Glycolic Acid (in their appropriate ph range and concentration), Retinol and a range of antioxidants. i try to incorporate all this in my routine. PLUS sunscreen of course!
Sorry, I always start to preach on this topic!;)
Any particular products you recommend, then?
I really like Paula´s Choice products. They are effective, contain state-of-the-art ingredients and are formulated without irritants. They´ve made my skin great, I don´t use foundation anymore!
Oh, that’s awesome, Nell!
Yes… I do use specialized serums and eye creams 🙂 For eyes, I use Murad eye creams. In the morning I use Murad Environmental Shield Essential-C Eye Cream SPF 15, and at night I use Murad Resurgence Renewing Eye Cream. Of course they are super expensive, and once they are gone I will not be able to replace them… *sigh*…sad, because I adore them and they do work for me.
And serums for the face – I use Murad Combination Skin Treatment (although they’ve now changed the name of it to something like T-Zone Pore Refining Gel or whatever – but it is still the same). This stuff is AWESOME. Smooths the skin, clears the pores, helps reduce breakouts. It has salicylic and glycolic acids, plus a bunch of other antioxidant ingredients.
I use that morning and night after cleansing. In the morning I follow it with moisturizer. At night, I follow it with Olay Regenerist Daily Regenerating Serum (fragrance free version) and then moisturizer. The Olay serum is great too – it does seem to reduce the look of fine lines.
So all of this, does it work? Yeah, I’d say it does help. Of course, I did have some luck in the genetic lottery, but this stuff really, really supplements that. I’m 34, but revealing that often shocks people, as they think I’m under 25. I get carded all the time, and once, embarrassingly, a waiter thought my husband was my father. *gulp*
Thanks, Jennifer! I will have to look into Murads creams 🙂
I just started using Olay’s Regenerist eye serum & face serum. I like the lighter consistency in the summer and it’s still super moisturizing – plus packed with tons of great things for your skin.
Awesome! Is it working well for you, Vee?
Coppertone for faces SPF 30 always a must!!!
lol even though its not quite a SPECIAL serum or cream.. its special enough for me!
Awesome pick, Annie!
I love Mary Kay Eye Revitalizer for dark circles. It totally works almost instantly. You see a difference after a day or two. I love the cooling sensation too.
Awesome! Thanks for the rec, Amy!
