Temptalia Asks You - Do you enjoy doing other people's makeup?
Do you enjoy doing other people’s makeup? Why/why not?
.
Yes, and no! It can be really fun sometimes, but other times, it can be very frustrating if you can’t give them what they’re looking for.
.
I have nobody to put makeup on. None of my friends like makeup. I tried to do my mom’s makeup but all she likes to wear is a little eyeliner and mascara.
I’ve only done makeup on my sister and she’s pretty happy with the results. I don’t know how it feels to do others make up other than your relatives lol, I’m kinda scared to have an unhappy client.
I do . But it pisses me off when theyre Little babies and
their eyes are constantly twitching lmfao . Or when you are all finished and it Looks great then oh she just poked her eye with the mascara wand . Now her makeup is half down her face . end rant haha (:
I do my students’ makeup when there is a sch production, and the makeup kit provided isn’t the best….but I make do with whatever I am given.
Sometimes when the students arent used to having their lids lined, and they cant stop blinking or shaking then it is really hard to do a proper job.
But yea, I like doing other people’s makeup!!
I do! I find it easier putting on make-up on other people. Weird huh? I am also faster when I am applying it on other faces..compared to my morning make-up ritual. LOL!
Though sometimes it can be frustrating not to have the same vision but in the end, it’s all about compromising and coming up with the best look that both of you can come up with. I do the make-up and he/she wears it. So it’s not really all about one person. As a make-up artist, I am keen in expressing my art but at the same time, I have to listen to my client’s desire. I have also learned to accept criticism as way to improve my craft 😀
I do. Even though I’m nervous every time I like it. Oddly enough my fav part is foundation, esp if I have the challenge of covering up blemishes/making someone’s face look perfect.
no,:/ but i did put lipstick on my friend once lol
No not really…just mines 🙂
I did my sisters makeup for her wedding, that was the last time.
I used to think that I’d wanna be a makeup artist but after realizing that putting makeup on people also means having to please them, I’ve burned that dream. I don’t mind doing makeup for photoshoots but doing makeovers can sometimes be a letdown when the other person does not feel comfortable wearing much makeup.
Also, I’m not very good with different eye shapes and features although I’d like to learn. So, for now, I DON’T enjoy doing other people’s makeup. Unless they don’t say anything and let me do what i want 😀
i love doing it more than anything! especially creating a perfect base. it does make me massively nervous though, especially weddings, because i want everything to be completely perfect for the client!!!
of course i do, i freelance as a makeup artist! i feel it’s harder to do someone else’s face rather than my own. i really enjoy working with color combos that don’t work on me but that i know work really well on others.
i do agree with Connie that it’s frustrating when people aren’t comfortable with how they look if it’s more than what they’re used to. the trick to that is to have other people there to encourage them and make them feel confident about it.
when doing makeovers, i feel that a little goes a long way. for someone who usually doesn’t wear any makeup, i work on perfecting the skin and softly sculpting contours instead of a dramatic eye. that’s easier for them to love instead of be mad about.
I love doing other people’s make-up, sadly I don’t have anyone to do make-up on anymore 🙁 I like the challenge of finding something the person is looking for and trying to add some of your flare to it to enhance their unique style.
I really like doing make up on others, but sometimes I get nervous whether the person will like it
absolutely, that’s why I love being a makeup artist. Though it took a little getting used to doing false lashes. I love the days when I have a ton of appointments for evening/bridal/black-tie event makeup 🙂
No! My friend in high school always needed me to do their makeup for plays since they didn’t know how to do it themselves. They would always twitch and fidget!
I don’t have anyone else to do makeup on, now, but I don’t think it’s something I’d be into. I think it’s too personal.
My friends ask me to do their make up all the time but I politely decline. I’m very afraid that they will not like the end result and be disappointed. My sister asked me to do her make up for her wedding day, we did a bunch of trials and I made myself so nervous doing her make up my hands started shaking. LOL She ended up going with a pro, she said she didn’t want me to have a heart attach on her big day. 🙂
I seriously do!!!! That’s why my future career plan is to be full time makeup artist, not just part time! 😀
i love it 🙂 but only with my OWN brush kit… can’t stand my friends’ drugstore makeup brushes…
I love it. Makeup was one of my favorite things about high school theater. Now, as an adult, I will sometimes do makeup on my friends if we’re going out. I feel much more confident doing someone else’s makeup than I do my own!
Yes, it’s my best hobby because I enjoy doing it.
Yes, since I freelance – but what drives me crazy though is when people fake tan! Then they get really red & sometimes even peely – it’s very hard to do nice makeup over that!
I never do anyone else’s make up, it just doesn’t come up. Maybe when my daughters are older, they’ll ask me to do their make up. They’re only 8 and 4, so it’s gonna be a while yet though. 🙂
not really. the only time i do anyone else’s makeup is for my daughters. imagine my delight when my teenage daughter preferred me to do her makeup for her highschool yearbook rather than have a professional MU artist do it. that was indeed a compliment for me!
YES! I LOVE doing other people’s makeup! The only downside is if the can’t stop fluttering their eyelids when I’m doing the eye makeup, which is a REALLY frustrating reflex..
I think it fun 🙂 but my I wish people would trust me on mascara lol everyone’s usually scared to poked in the eye.
I love doing others’ makeup! I’m an artist and I love making ppl look beautiful.
No, not really. Probably because I’ve only done a few other people’s makeup (family and friends). I’m Asian, with a double lid, but my friend with a single lid asked me to do hers. It was complicated since I didn’t really know where to place her crease. Then she didn’t really want her eyebrows cleaned up or filled in. I feel like you need to make sure your eyebrows look good otherwise it just looks…. not done and messy!
Sometimes, but never as much as doing my own. I just wish I had more people who wanted to be my guinea pigs. I feel like I would like doing it more if I had more practice.
Yes I do!
I tried it once, and it’s still rather hard for me to put makeup on another person aside myself =P
I love it! Being able to help others through a creative channel is one of my dreams and with makeup artistry, I love aiding in the transformation of someone’s self-confidence.
Yes 🙂 It gives me the opportunity to break out products that I usually don’t use. Like, if they have a different skin tone of hair color than me, I can use products that don’t usually flatter me and get some use out of them. Plus, I like people to do my makeup as well. I love looking at the final results 🙂
I do and I don’t – people like the way I do my make up and I’m always afraid they won’t like what I’ve done for them! I’m not completely comfortable matching up lips/cheeks with an eye combo nor with various eye shapes my friends/family have.
I like it, but then I don’t. For example, I’m used to doing make up on myself. Knowing what works best, what looks best, how I like things. Its my face and my eyes. On other people, they know what they like- I don’t. And another thing, people have different eye shapes or they have a very deep crease and so you can’t see the crease color. Idk, I’ve had many different ups and downs with doing other peoples makeup.
I LOVE IT!!! That look they get on their face when you hand them the mirror and you have done exactly what they want makes you feel awesome! It is such a natural high…makes me want to go work on another client…no matter how long I worked on that one! LOL! The only thing I ever worry about is…do I have bad breath!?! LOL!!!!!
I LOVE putting make up on others! I grab my sisters all the time and just do it for fun lol. They’re 8 & 9 so they enjoy it a lot too.
I do if they let me control it. If they wanna whine and crap then I’d rather not do it. I’m actually doing a photoshoot for a local fashion designer at the end of the month and I am stoked because they wan tme to come and just be creative and do some bright, funky stuff!! That’s the way I like to do it!!
I love doing other people’s makeup. It’s fun and I like helping my friends out. Many of them can’t do looks they want for special occasions and I’ve been asked to do their makeup several times. It makes me feel good about my makeup skills too. 😀
Absolutely! I am an Aesthetician/Makeup Artist and I love doing makeup for other people! Yes, every once in a while you get someone that’s hard to please, but I love a good challenge! When I can transform someone’s look it makes my day!! It’s so much fun to see their face when I’m all done! Especially if it’s for a special occasion and I know they are attending their event feeling and looking their best….I get a huge satisfaction knowing I was a part of that!
I LOVE doing my friends makeup. When we go out for the night or just for fun (makeup parties) I have so much makeup that i wont use up by myself so I feel it’s good practice and its fun. It’s like art only I’m better at this!
I prefer doing my own but don’t mind doing certain people’s makeup, esp if they have nice skin and pretty faces to begin with – ha ha! Makes it easier, but the other is more challenging and helps to make you better.
yes and no. i have frunds that are used to wearing one color all over da lid or simply eyeliner and thats it.so they dont believe in foundation or blush. ive done make up in 3 big occasions and they were ok but i was nervous whether or not dey like it
