Tarte NeutralEyes Eyeshadow Palette
Tarte Neutral Eyes Eyeshadow Palette ($44.00 for 0.60 oz.) features ten of Tarte’s Amazonian clay eyeshadows. It also includes Brown emphasEYES Aqua-Gel Eyeliner, double-ended shadow brush, and miniature-sized Lifted Eye Primer. It comes in a shimmering purple palette with zipper and snake print detailing.
- Matte Bone is a soft beige with a matte finish. It has a very smooth feel.
- Matte Taupe is a softened grayish taupe with a semi-matte finish–it has just a touch of sheen.
- Matte Olive Green is an olive-tinged charcoal brown with a semi-matte finish. I just didn’t see green in this shade when swatched. This one was also a little sheer and powdery.
- Shimmering Bronze is a muted copper with a frost finish.
- Matte Deep Teal is a darkened bluish-teal with a satin sheen. It was a touch sheer. (Yes, this shade arrived broken.)
- Matte Soft Pink is a pale pinked beige with a matte finish–it’s very similar to Matte Bone, except there it leans pink.
- Shimmering Soft Peach is a champagne shimmered peach with a frost finish. It goes on rather sheer.
- Matte Brown is a medium-dark red-toned brown with a semi-matte finish.
- Matte Plum is a red-toned plum purple with a semi-matte finish. I wish this had beenmore pigmented–it was a little powdery and sheer.
- Matte Navy is a blackened blue-teal with a matte finish.
- Brown Aqua-Gel Eyeliner is a medium-dark chocolate brown with subtle warm undertones. It is incredibly smooth and creamy, but it was so creamy that the tip of the pencil broke off upon first use.
my thoughts on the formula: The formula on these eyeshadows was scattered–a couple were silky smooth and had true-to-pan color, while others were powdery and sheered out with the slightest touch. The eyeliner glides on with nice pigmentation and wears all day but one has to be careful with it or else it breaks.

It’s a pity. The packaging is really nice! I also think that the price is maybe too high for a product of not very good quality.
I agree. It looked promising.
Christine, any plans on doing a review on the Tarina Tarantino Floriculture palette? I saw it at Sephora and it looked beautiful. I swatched a few colors on my hand and they were super pigmented and buttery. I’m dying to get it.
Sorry, I don’t have it!
I bought the floriculture palette about 10 days ago and returned yesterday. The color payoff just isn’t there. It swatched really nicely but when I actually used it, I ended up layering other shadows I already had over it just to get better color. I also found the shadows to be too powdery. I wanted to love it but it just didn’t happen.
Pretty in the palette but the swacthes show how yucky it actually it! no thank you ill pass…..
Yucky was my first thought. Seems as if they spent more time on the packaging.
That eyeliner looks like mud! Goopy, and even wet in some spots. Maybe it’s mainly the color’s fault, I probably wouldn’t have thought the same thing if it was black. I just have not been impressed with Tarte products. I’ve owned a few, and was sadly let down by most of them =[
Quality issues aside, these colors are pretty blah… I know they’re neutral, but none of the colors seem very nuanced or to have much depth. I’d be disappointed if I had bought this, even if it is a lot of product for the money.
I am sorry…but I am not liking anything…Neither the color selection nor the packaging….Total no-no for me..
The colors don’t even make sense with each other! Like… why are half of them light, dull colors and the other half random pops of color? I never thought purple would ever make it into a palette labeled “neutral”. Confused.
That’s really unfortunate that the Teal arrived broken. 🙁
These eyeshadows don’t seem very vibrant.
Yikes. Definitely not buying.
Beware of that liner- it broke off into my eye because it’s too soft and my eyes burned like never before! I had a really hard time washing it out.
Umm, the eyeshadows do look like they suck to be honest, but your pictures look nothing like the actual palette. I guess your camera just make the light eyeshadows look white. Shame.
Did you look at all the photos? They don’t look like just white eyeshadows to me? I always double, and now have triple checked, to ensure color accuracy of photos that I post.
I think you might need to check your monitor Ali because they aren’t all white to me.
I bought one of their single eyeshadows and it is chalky and hard to blend. They are good with blushes but not a fan of the eyeshadows…
This would have been such a great palette in theory, having everything I need for a trip. I’m really disappointed, as I love Tarte’s products.
It’s a pity because I love all those colours, espacially the teal one, but the quality seems to be… yucky. The eyeliner looks like poo also 😀 Thanks for your reviews !
Something about the Tarte eye shadow palettes that turn me off… maybe it’s the high price for so-so colors with less than so-so quality. Not to say they’re ALL bad but in my all-time favorite eye shadow palettes have to be from Urban Decay. Specifically, the Naked palette. I feel like I always get a good bang for my buck from them. Then again, I also understand that Tarte is pricey because they’re organic.
the outside packaging is really nice… but then the inside of the palette looks really cheap and the shadow quality looks hideous.
why do the eyeliner swatch looks so gross and wet? iuuk
I rather prefer sheer colors that are on the matte side and i was wondering if you would recommend this pallet to me with that in mind?
