What are your deal-breakers when it comes to highlighters?

I like ’em all — subtle, moderate, intense — and I don’t mind fine pearl to high-shine to glittery finishes, either. What I do want is really even, smooth application that can highlight without being too emphasizing of skin texture.

What are your deal-breakers when it comes to eyeshadows?

I really do not like when brands throw sparkle into an otherwise matte eyeshadow. I really find it pointless as the sparkles do not bind with the base color, so there’s unnecessary fallout… it’s like it’s there just to be pretty in the pan and that’s a pass for me. I think an eyeshadow...

What are your deal-breakers when it comes to lip products?

What are your deal-breakers when it comes to lip products?

Lipsticks: I tend to gravitate toward lipsticks with some shine, though I have loved a matte or two! I like a lightly to moderately hydrating formula that has little scent and has the decency to wear away evenly. Liquid lipsticks that crack or make my lips look shriveled are totally out! Regular...

What are your deal-breakers when it comes to eyeshadow palettes?

Too many shades overwhelms me, and the size often begins to be a pain to store or travel with. If I see too many very light shades, it probably won’t translate well on my skin tone, so I wouldn’t reach for something like that either. I don’t care about mirrors, since I never find myself...

What makes a cheek palette appealing to you?

I like trios or quads, and I like when brands release a few so that they can address the needs of different skin tones. Otherwise, I prefer that they are in the same vein — e.g. all cool or warm-toned shades.

What makes a lip color set appealing to you?

What makes a lip color set appealing to you?

I can go two ways on lip sets — I want variety (different colors/finishes) or themed, e.g. berries or reds or pinks. There should be enough product in each shade that the product remains functional (I’m thinking of how mini lipsticks can sometimes break at the base). The value should be there,...

Have you ever influenced someone to get a product? How did that go?

I’m pretty sure I have 🙂 I think over time, most of the feedback I’ve gotten has been that it went well, but there have been instances where it hasn’t!

Do you have any beauty items on your holiday wish list? Share!

I’m fortunate that I get more than my fill throughout the year by buying products to review! When it comes to my wish list, I haven’t put anything beauty-related it on for years.
