What’s the best part about makeup?: Trying out new looks and playing with new colors.
What’s the worst part about makeup?: The money! There are always news things I want to buy.
What first got you into makeup?: It started with a lip stain that worked and it went downhill from there!
What’s the best part about makeup?:
Looking many times better than nature ever intended at 7.00am on a Monday morning.
What’s the worst part about makeup?:
Being constantly broke.
What first got you into makeup?:
The shiny gold cases of my mother’s makeup counter as a child. Then there was a traumatic period with mid-90s dark chocolate lipstick and Hard Candy nail polish … ;D
nice answer!!
Best part: Looking so much better than I do without makeup.
Worst part: Removing mascara! I use eye-makeup remover, am sure I got it all off, wash my face…but then there are mascara remnants showing up under my eyes for days. Can someone please explain what I’m doing wrong?
First got into makeup because: that’s what I thought girls were supposed to do! All girls. No exceptions.
What’s the best part about makeup?: Applying it! Aside from sleeping, applying my makeup in the morning is my favorite time of the day. (I swear, it’s like a mini mental orgasm when I pull open makeup drawer in the bathroom and see all the cute tubs of e/s pots, lippies, etc!
What’s the worst part about makeup?: Having to retouch during the day. It’s just something I’ve learned to live with. I also hate it when it’s really hot outside, and I have to worry about my makeup melting.
What first got you into makeup?: My little sister, believe it or not. My mom doesn’t wear makeup, and neither did any of my friends. My sis started doing her eyebrows and eye makeup, and I just sort of became fascinated and followed suit.
Best part: playing with colour and textures and looking fresh
Worst Part: having lots of stuff because I can’t help but buy buy buy
First got into it: My mom’s makeup collection and seeing these amazing editorial ad campaigns in fashion magazines
Best Part: Creating new looks
Worst Part: Money and it can be time consuming
First got into it: When I tried my Mom’s lipstick when I was a kid, though I really didn’t get into it until the last 3yrs.
Best Part: Creating different looks and mixing different colours.
Worst Part: When you can’t decide between the different lipsticks ect..
First got into it: When i did my dance performances at my dance school, we had to wear full on stage make up and i was like only 5 at first, but i loved it!!
What’s the best part about makeup?: Playing with colours. Seeing new collections. Being creative. And covering up yucky skin.
What’s the worst part about makeup?: Never enough money to buy it all, it’s pretty expensive hobby…
What first got you into makeup?: I can’t really remember, probably a friend.
What’s the best part about makeup?:
Magnifying personal beauty and being creative with looks.
What’s the worst part about makeup?:
The money I spend on it!!!! And taking it off at night when it looks amazing (esp is it was professional done).
What first got you into makeup?:
My mom has always been into makeup and like mother, like daughter 🙂
What’s the best part about makeup?: enhancing beauty, and making up for the imperfections *^^*
What’s the worst part about makeup?: never enough time to get ready….and soooo many products i want!!
What first got you into makeup?: my mother’s mascara, and the way she could curl her lashes, i was fascinated. Her nail polish too, she always had pretty manicured nails
What’s the best part about makeup?:
Makeup allows you to transform yourself. It’s so versatile, you can do almost anything with it; add confidence, bring your features out, create art, etc. It allows you to temporarily transform yourself into something you aren’t actually in real life. Such as, wearing a very elegant and extravagant look can make a girl feel like a princess for the night, coupled with the clothes obviously. Now, who out of us can actually claim to be real princesses? Hmm???
What’s the worst part about makeup?:
Zits. Ahah.
My real “worst” though is the way a lot of people view makeup. Many people think that people wear makeup to hide their “true beauty”, and to mask their face. But that honestly isn’t the case with most people that wear a full face (or a lot) of makeup. I find that people generalize and group makeup-wearers together into something that a lot of us do not fit into, and when I hear people saying “Oh, she must hate how she looks because of all the makeup she has on” or “Why is she masking her true beauty with all that makeup?” it makes me feel bad in some way.
What first got you into makeup?:
I would say just getting older, curiosity, and needing a confidence boost. I wasn’t happy with how I looked, so before the 9th grade (when I started wearing makeup), I did small things to help with my confidence, such as dyeing and cutting my hair, getting new clothes that actually FIT, and wearing makeup. It was all about maturing really.
Wow, that was long haha.
Q. What’s the best part about makeup?:
A. wearing it
Q. What’s the worst part about makeup?:
A. paying for it
What first got you into makeup?:
A. Truthfully, I went through a very bad skin breakout that left me with dark blemishes from scarring and after that I was hooked.
What’s the best part about makeup?: Being able to take time everyday for myself. Makeup is a way to express my creativity, spend quality time on myself (it is like mediation really) and makes me look as good on the outside as I feel on the inside.
What’s the worst part about makeup?: It is expensive and sometimes I dream about it. (Seriously, I dreamed about MUFE last night after watching a YouTube video showing a palette I really want but can’t afford.)
What first got you into makeup?: My mom’s first Avon catalog that I got my hands on at age 5. I would circle all the things I wanted but my mom just never bought them for me. Instead I would end up with a lip gloss or bath bubbles. I have more than made up for that now with my addiction.
I guess I need to learn how to spell “meditation.” Oops.
The Best Part of Makeup:
Through a variety of colors and textures you can transform yourself into someone else or create a mood, ie. smokey eyed vixen or berry stained cheeks/lip ingenue. It also is a good ‘mommy time’ for me before my daughter wakes up in the morning.
Worst Part:
The time it sometimes takes to transform yourself into the aforementioned alter egos also it isn’t cheap either! On the weekends sometimes I don’t want to make the effort just to do my eyebrows…
How I got here?
I’ve been obsessed with makeup since the age of 5 when I would play with my mother’s Shiseido products and I was obsessed with the perfume bottles on her dresser. Big beauty puff/makeup sponges are also nostalgic to me – reminds me of looking through all my aunts’ makeup when I was little.
What’s the best part about makeup?: looking and feeling pretty , how fun it is
What’s the worst part about makeup?: when it clogs your pores , or is cheaply made . when its not applied right .. ugh i hate seeing ppl walkin around with horrible makeup
What first got you into makeup?: ummm i dont know i was like 13 and saw older girls in it so i decided iwanted to wear some too.. boy did it look like shit haha
What’s the best part about makeup?: Applying it and buying new gorgeous compacts/lipsticks, etc.
What’s the worst part about makeup?: Taking it off.
What first got you into makeup?: My Mum NOT wearing any, it somehow made me want to wear make up. Strange, I know.
What’s the best part about makeup?: putting it on, definatly!
What’s the worst part about makeup?: urrrgg… removing it too much hassle
What first got you into makeup?: watching fafinettex3 videos when she first started her account (Feb 2008)
Best part about make-up: Looking amazing even if it’s super early and you had a terrible night.
Worst part about make-up: Testing out products that you don’t know if they’re right for you. You break out a ton and you lose a lot of cash.
What first got you into make-up: RiceBunny… and then it became an addiction :p
I totally agree w/testing different brands out and finding one that fits what you’re looking & doesn’t make your skin go crazy. So much money and time is wasted in that process. And just constantly returning items.
What’s the best part about makeup?: playing with it ;D and buying it. lol
What’s the worst part about makeup?: removing it and paying for it.
What first got you into makeup?: Grandma’s lipstick collection, and then getting to do makeup for a school play.
What’s the best part about makeup? The way it makes me feel about myself – pretty!
What’s the worst part about makeup? My addiction to it which swallows so much of my budget. But hey……I figure their are so many things that I could be addicted to and spending too much money on that are so much worse and often harmful!
What first got you into makeup? Definately, red lipstick! Even as a small child I can remember being fascinated by ladies putting on red lipstick. My momma wore Revlon – Fire & Ice! Only one other activity caught my eye as much as this and that was ladies applying perfume. I loved the way my momma always dabbed it behind her knees. As a kid I thought this was hysterical!
What’s the best part about makeup?: trying out different looks with make up and feeling good about my self after i put it on.
What’s the worst part about makeup?: The money being spent and having to be broke at times 🙁
What first got you into makeup?: Besides seeing my mom doing her make up in the morning before school. Watching videos on youtube got me some motivation to do my make up.
What’s the best part about makeup?: I can enhace my features and also have lots of fun with the different colored e/s, eyeliners, lipsticks, etc…
What’s the worst part about makeup?: that after a while, it’s no longer safe for use, like mascaras and stuff…
What first got you into makeup?: youtube gurus definitely! lol
ha well this sure beats the heck out of doing math and bio hw for a minute or so….
What’s the best part about makeup?: being able to accentuate your best features, experimenting with new ideas and color combos.
What’s the worst part about makeup?: when you either mess up or you thought of a color combo to try and then hated it and have to re do it, lighting changes everything..does anyone else ever have that issue where you look great in the light you did your make up but when you change settings suddenly you look like s**t?!
What first got you into makeup?: my younger sister and trying to keep up with the rest of the middle school and high school world. LOL
What’s the best part about makeup?: being able to play with new color combinations and learning new techniques
What’s the worst part about makeup?: the stress of getting your eyeliner on straight 🙂 or when a look just doesn’t work like you wantd to and you have to take it all off and start over again
What first got you into makeup?: I always wore a little make-up but I started really getting into it after watching youtube tutorials and realizing, hey, I could do that too
What’s the best part about makeup?: enhancing your natural features, playing around with color combinations, and new looks!
What’s the worst part about makeup?: cosmetics that stain…. your face and brushes. 🙁
What first got you into makeup?: My mother <3, I always played around with her eyeshadows and lipsticks.
What’s the best part about makeup?:
Its that extra little confidence you get from it that can just brighten you day knowing you look and feel good.
What’s the worst part about makeup?:
The addiction! Especially when you see a new collection come out and your broke but you can’t say no (especially those MAC addicts like me :P)
What first got you into makeup?:
The need for a decent concealer just to eliminate my undereye circles now I go crazy at makeup stores 🙁
Best:
Trying out new looks, looking better than I would without makeup, playing with new products, find secret tips and tricks, and the confidence boost 🙂
Worst: the price of addiction.
Also, I have an incredibly unmatchable skintone (face is pale and rosey, body is yellowish D:) and I sweat a lot so it can tend to slide off. Touchups are annoying XD
What got me into makeup:
Being a girl? XD I was into makeup when I was REALLY young, then had a tomboy phase, then a school friend got me back into it at age 12, then I went through my rocker phase where I only did black eye makeup and some concealer, then youtube revived my interest in makeup this year, at age 18/19 🙂
What’s the best part about makeup?
-Creating new looks, playing w/new products, the way it turns out, and looks on my face.
What’s the worst part about makeup?
-Definitely the money. Good quality makeup is usually on the pricey side. And, sometimes if you put too much makeup on your face can look cakey and sometimes you want it to be natural. I hate when stuff like eyeliner smudges.
What first got you into makeup?
-Well, an un-even skintone and some acne did. Lol. So, I started w/just simple foundation, concealer, and powder. I didn’t get into everything else till the end of high school.
What’s the best part about makeup? Must be the looking-better part, all the lovely colours and creating something new.
What’s the worst part about makeup? Concealing – or trying to do it – and wishing every day that my eye makeup would stay put.
What first got you into makeup? Difficult to say, it happened ages ago. I do remember that when I was young I was very into mascaras. I had to get even the wildest colours, neon pinks, golden, etc.
What’s the best part about makeup?
The endless possibilities to change your makeup according to your mood. Also, I love how makeup gives me more confidence.
What’s the worst part about makeup?
The money issue! lol. My kit is about €3,500 value and I’m still getting more.
I’m tired to wash my brushes so often, but I can’t help it – I just don’t feel well when my brushes are dirty.
What first got you into makeup?
Acne and undereye circles! But I became addicted when I began watching Lauren Luke’s tutorials and learning through Temptalia about a year and a half ago.
Hey! I was waiting for someone to mention Lauren Luke’s tutorials. I became addicted after watching them like you! (And then I started reading Temptalia to learn about all this stuff!)
the best part is making myself more beautiful. I usually wear just a bit of makeup, and when I go all out, people always complement me.
The worst part is storage and having somewhere to put it on in the morning. My bathroom is small and my bedroom doesn’t have good lighting.
I have been into make up for 1 year (and I am 33!) I always wore it, but I wasn’t really as consumed with it as I am now.
The Best Part about makeup is putting it on and experimenting, also looking instant glam when you put it on.
The worst part about makeup is truly the price!! Plus knowing you can’t afford some of these great brands. Another bad thing about makeup is that you want to buy it all so I stay broke. 🙁
What first got me into makeup I would have to say makeuptalk.com and youtube.
What’s the best part about makeup? Being able to accentuate and advertise your personality and who you are, yet being able to change that daily or go au naturale with no problem. Also, it’s a huge confidence booster!
What’s the worst part about makeup? The skin problems that often come with wearing it either improperly, for many many years, being rough with your skin, or not washing it off properly (or at all)
What first got you into makeup? My friend helped me pick out my first real foundation to help get rid of my shinyness and redness, and from there taught me how to wear mascara, eyeliner, and eventually eyeshadow and concealer as a means to boost up my confidence.
* What’s the best part about makeup? using it to showcase your personality, the ability to change yourself into different characters. I love how it can transform you and your attitude. A swipe of a red lipstick gives you instant confidence and glamour, I love that.
* What’s the worst part about makeup? Trying things that don’t work. Buying drugstore products that disappoint. How I want super expensive pieces that I can never afford. Damn you Dior Jazz palette!
* What first got you into makeup? My Mom working for Avon, always having makeup lying around and looking through the catalog when I was little. Watching her apply lipstick constantly and how it immediately affected her mood really struck me. Eventually doing makeovers on my friends in high school and then working for several makeup lines myself in college. Natural transition!
*Best- Makeup is transformative and expressive. I love trying out different looks and products to alter how I appear- sometimes, even how I feel. Like Illamasqua’s tagline- makeup is for my alter ego.
*Worst- I never feel like I have enough makeup. ^^; I’m always on the lookout for colors I don’t have or textures I haven’t tried. There’s an infinity of possibilities and it can get waaayy too expensive, especially if it doesn’t work out.
*First- I got into makeup when I got my first Milani eyeshadows. I’d never *seen* such a bright blue shadow as Atlantis when I was 14. Later, when winged eyeliner and red lipstick became staples in high school I got more serious about how I looked and really only got into ‘collecting’ makeup as a hobby last year cos of acne and scars I had to cover up. :3
-Always wearing new colors
-Not having enough room to store it!
-YouTube did it to me!
Expressing my creativity.
Washing it off…and buying it!!
I was born with the bug. ;D
What’s the best part about makeup?
Hmmmm… it’s so hard to choose a best part! I think the best part for me is probably really being able to change and enhance my look so I am taken more seriously and look closer to my age. I love how for everyday, makeup helps me look happier and more alive and therefore improves my attitude going out in the morning. And, as a particularly young-looking skinny Asian girl (people most often guess 15-16 based on my looks or 23-25 based on my maturity; I’m 21), wearing and dressing the part really lets me go beyond the pigeonholed “cute, shy and pretty” and actually feel and look confident, cool and even sexy!
What’s the worst part about makeup?
Oh, definitely the gateway drug to shopaholism. I definitely spent WAY less before I got into makeup, and if I did buy then it was skincare or body care, both of which I was limited in because I’m allergic to many products. I don’t shoe/clothing shop very much since I have trouble finding things in my size so shopping often just left me drained and depressed but makeup is kind of one size fits all and I can always come back with something I like, lol. I guess in a good way it’s also forced me to look at my spending and start budgeting.
What first got you into makeup?
The very, very first makeup I wore was in high school to cover up the dark circles I had under my eyes from only sleeping 3-5 hours a night. My mom bought me a BE kit shortly thereafter… but I only really wore the foundation and blush. I think I had one TBS lipstick that I never wore because it flaked my lips off. I *REALLY* got into makeup only about a year ago when I got into MAC because I wanted to find a pretty plum-colored lipstick. Then there was MAC Hello Kitty and then there was no turning back after that lol.
What’s the best part about makeup?
The way make up makes you beautiful and fresh. The way makeup is creative and all the different looks you can come up with.
What’s the worst part about makeup?
Having no money, and having to remove it every night, even if it took you over an hour to put it on.
What first got you into makeup?
I had a neighbor who loved makeup and he started working at MAC, and for christmas he gave his mom to give me my first two eyeshadows. since then i loved MAC and then for my birthday he gave me a makeup bag, the 222 brush, glitter liners and another eyeshadow. I thought that i had pretty much everything, but i was wrong. A couple months later he held a MAC AIDS fund and i purchsed a lot of tickets to win a $500 MAC collection, or a $300 brush set, or a MAC train case. In thans for my support he came to my house and brought me a VIVA GLAM poster, lipglass, lipstick and a couple of the holiday brushes. I thought i could NEVER EVER win, but i ended up winning the train case. Throughout the months he kept giving me stuff. And since his kindness i have been into makeup. Then i discovered the beauty channels on youtube. I really owe a lot to him, he is such an amazing person.
What’s the best part about makeup? Playing around with it and just generally going crazy and doing crazy things.
What’s the worst part about makeup? Spending the money and getting it off at the end of the day.
What first got you into makeup? Browsing around Sephora for perfume i cam e across all of the other things, I took it all in and went to the store right after to get some things.
