Where do you apply your makeup? In my bedroom sitting on my bed. I cannot see to stand at the bathroom mirror.
What kind of lighting do you use? 2 bright lights on the nightstand and 2 overhead can lights.
How long does it take? 20 Minutes with a simple eye look. 30 minutes with a more dramatic look.

Where do you apply your makeup? Bedroom
What kind of lighting do you use? Natural light and whatever wattage is in the light fixture

Your skin tone/coloring: Fair-light, neutral
Where do you apply your makeup? Spare bathroom (not the one I shower in)
What kind of lighting do you use? I replaced the bulbs in the light fixture with daylight bulbs. Best idea ever! I got tired of applying my makeup and going outside and it looking different. I considered investing in a lighted mirror but having the entire space with good lighting seemed like a better (and cheaper) option. Really happy with the lighting! Added bonus is when the weather is crummy, you feel good going into the room into daylight.
How long does it take? Depends on the look. Anywhere from 20-40 minutes.

Where do you apply your makeup? In my living room on my couch
What kind of lighting do you use? Natural lighting and a bit of light that comes off my laptop screen. Sometimes I have to turn on my lamp in corner but I still use the natural lighting coming to know what my makeup looks like.
How long does it take? Usually about 20 minutes but I am usually watching tv while I am doing my makeup so sometimes I pause to watch what is on the screen.

Skin tone: light warm
Where do you apply your makeup? In my bathroom, in front of a window
What kind of lighting do you use? Natural, indirect sunlight. This is really the only place in my house where the lighting is good enough to do my makeup!
How long does it take? That really depends on what I do that day, no-makeup makeup days can be under 10 minutes, complex eye looks may last 45 minutes.

Where do you apply your makeup? I have a makeup room. I have a large mirror on the wall next to my “vanity” (roll-top desk), to which I’ve attached a magnifying mirror.

I know a lot of people think a separate room is silly, but my house was built in the 70s and the bed- and bathrooms are small. But it does have four bedrooms. I also use the room for out of season clothing storage, crafts, and sewing. To paraphrase Virginia Woolf, I needed a room of my own.

What kind of lighting do you use? I have a vanity strip over my mirror, with six GE Reveal bulbs. Also there are two lamps flanking my vanity, each with two GE Reveal bulbs. Oregon doesn’t get much sunlight a lot of the year, so the Reveal bulbs mimic the natural light for me.

How long does it take? About 20-30 minutes. I can do as little as 5, though, if I need to.

Your skintone/coloring: Medium w/olive undertones MAC Studio Fix Liquid foundation in C4.5, deep brunette, teal green eyes w/gold flecks.

Where do you apply your makeup: In my Bathroom.

What kind of lighting do you use: Because I’m blind as a bat without my glasses, I use a Conair lighted magnifying mirror (the one with 4 settings and 2 side mirrors). Also, my bathroom has a small, but fairly sunny window thats in back of me as I apply it, so that definitely helps some!

How long does it take: It depends. If I’m doing a more involved or adventurous look, probably 45 mins.-1 hour, it it’s a look I’ve mastered or is more simple, 15-25 mins.

xamyx Avatar

Skintone/Coloring: Fairly light, very neutral; dark-featured.

Where: Face/base products in the bathroom, detailed/eye products anywhere I can sit down and hold a mirror up close. However, for more “basic” looks, I will typically just do it all in the bathroom.

Lighting: Whatever happens to be available… I have a pretty good idea of how much product to apply, what the colors look like, what foundation/concealer works (I don’t tan, so my foundation matches year round), etc… I also keep blush shades more “natural”, and thoroughly blend contour products, so I don’t tend to overdo either.

How Long: I can get by with 5-10 minutes (depending on what I’m using for brows, it may go closer to 10), but in an ideal world, I’d have about half an hour.

Where do you apply your makeup? On my face. (My vanity)
What kind of lighting do you use? Natural lightning from the window, if it’s not early winter mornings and pitch black outside. Then I use my good old desk lamp.
How long does it take? From 10 to 60 minutes, depends on how much time I have!

Skin tone – NC-15/20ish
Where do you apply mu – bedroom vanity
What kind of lighting – i invested in the wireless HumanKind mirror that lights up when you look into it – best investment ever!
How long does it take – 10 – 15 minutes for daytime look

Lisa Avatar

Fair- fair medium, yellow undertones

I apply my makeup in the bathroom, since I do it right after my skincare and it’s convenient.

I use the bathroom light since there’s no window in my bathroom. (I know it’s terrible!)

Depends if I’m into perfecting my skin that day, it can take anywhere between 10- 20 mins. On a night out, 45? Is that ridiculously long?

Anne Avatar

Your skin tone/coloring: NC15/20

Where do you apply your makeup? In my bedroom in front of a desk thing I’ve kind of converted into a pseudo-vanity.

What kind of lighting do you use? I have one of those mirrors with the ring of light around it, and try to turn on lights around the room, and some days I get lucky and have decent natural light from my window, but in general I don’t have a lot of good lighting so I end up dashing to the bathroom to check for things like if I’ve piled on too much blush.

How long does it take? Varies between 10 minutes for a quick everyday look (or 0 minutes if it’s a no-makeup day) to 30 if I’m having a big night out or a special occasion where I want to look flawless or super glam.

Your skin tone/coloring: NC30
Where do you apply your makeup?: At a makeup table in my bedroom.
What kind of lighting do you use?: Natural light! I still need to purchase some type of lighted mirror for applying makeup when the sun isn’t out.
How long does it take?: Depends. I can get my full face on in 15 minutes, but if I’m taking my time/enjoying myself it might take an hour or more.

El Avatar

Colouring: fair neutral, dark brown eyes, dark red hair.

Location: I apply makeup in my bedroom, in front of the mirrored closet doors.

Lighting: just the normal overhead lights, which are fairly bright. I’ll get around to task lighting in that corner someday…

Time: anywhere from 10 – 60+ minutes, depending on what I’m doing!!! If it’s just for work, usually 15-20 minutes. Despite my many years of practice, I am not fast. 😉

Your skin tone/coloring: Fairest neutral. Bobbi Brown Skin Foundation in Alabaster, Koh Gen Do Maifanshi Moisture Foundation in 001 and NARS All Day Luminous Weightless foundation in Siberia. White foundation is a good friend of mine. 😛

Where do you apply your makeup?

In my bedroom sitting on the floor in front of my mirrored wardrobe. I like a big mirror to do my makeup in!

What kind of lighting do you use?

Natural light when possible but that isn’t something I get much of. It’s usually indoor lighting I use.

How long does it take?

It completely depends on whether I’m going out or not and how much time I have. For your average day when I’m going to work, if I’m lazy really, then I’ll throw on some foundation, blusher and lipstick, which takes me no more than five minutes. If I’m going out then it takes me anywhere from 20 minutes to 40 minutes. If I have the time and want to play about a bit then I can take over an hour but that’s not a common occurrence.

Claire L Avatar

My skin tone/colouring: Fair, cool to neutral. Dark auburn hair and dark green eyes.

Where do I apply my makeup (and what lighting do you use)? Daytime – in my ensuite bathroom next to the window. Evening – in the main bathroom as it has better lighting, it has a normal light bulb and a shaving light above the mirror. The ensuite bathroom only has halogen spotlight bulbs which are harsh and makes it difficult to make up my face properly.

How long does it take? About 20 mins normally but if it’s just daytime, I just put on base and concealer sometimes.

Helene Avatar

Skintone, I always thought it was warm, but I have finally understood why I dislike some of my warmer foundations, I’m more of a neutral, fair, about NC/W 15-20
Where do I apply my makeup, first I thought I’d try to be funny and say “to my face” but I decided against that. So sitting in my couch in the living room
What kind of lighting, I try to use the daylight, but in the winter I just have ordinary lights. I do go and check in the mirror in the bathroom, wher I have a good lighing, but I refuse to stand up and do my makeup.
How long it takes, it depends, from around 15 minutes to an hour or two. The TV is always on, so I watch a show or something while doing the makeup.

Where do you apply your makeup? On my bed
What kind of lighting do you use? Natural light
How long does it take? If I am in a big hurry, maybe 20 minutes but I like taking my time and
enjoying the process – 30 to 40.

Kat Avatar

Your skin tone/coloring: fair/light warm (NC15)

Where do you apply your makeup? At home, I apply it on my bed because that’s where the best lighting is, and at school at my desk.

What kind of lighting do you use? Natural daylight, I find it’s the most accurate at showing the colors of the makeup and all the fine details.

How long does it take? 15-30 minutes almost always!

Your skin tone/coloring: Revlon Colorstay oily/combo 400 caramel & Covergirl Queen All Day foundation Q815 Brulee mixture; NW40
Where do you apply your makeup?: In the bathroom
What kind of lighting do you use?: four fluorescent lights above the mirror. Currently one’s blown out but it still pretty good and accurate. I never have the “mask” foundation look.
How long does it take?: From concealer to setting powder, it probably takes 15 minutes.

How long does it take? As much time as I want to spend! Anywhere from 30 minutes to 2 hours (sometimes longer if I’ve tried something new that didn’t work out the way I’d planned…). =)

• Warm undertone, with a touch of Neutral
• NC44.5 to NC45

♥ Where do you apply your makeup?
• Most times, in my bedroom. But sometimes, in my bathroom.

♥ What kind of lighting do you use?
• In my bedroom, I use my Simple Human Sensor Mirror. It’s sunlight simulation lighting is amazing!
• In the bathroom, my mirror has vanity lights which are awesome for full face and décolletage makeup application.

♥ How long does it take?

How long does it take?: 1-2 hours, depending on the complexity of the look and how awake I am!

Light yellow/olive.
In our on-suite mini-kitchen. (Hopefully when we go to a more permanent place it’ll be in our bedroom at a decent dressing table.
Natural light.
Unfortunately it can still take 30-40 minutes. I just haven’t mastered quick MU application, besides I seem to be doing more things these days than in the past (primer, brows, more eyeshadows, two layers of foundation on my T-zone, etc.)

Where do you apply your makeup? My bedroom.. I have a large mirror in my room that I’ll use, but sometimes I’ll set up a mirror in front of my window. Unfortunately, I cannot sit and do my makeup 🙁
What kind of lighting do you use? Natural lighting mostly. I have terrible lighting in my room so artificial lighting is nearly out of the question.

Where do you apply your makeup? In the bathroom, using a standing mirror
What kind of lighting do you use? I think they are incandescent bulbs. I would prefer natural lighting or those “sun” bulbs, but logistically doesn’t make sense.
How long does it take? 10-30 minutes depending on the look. Sometimes I make a mistake (uneven cat eyes, lip tar mess, too much blush) and a simple look takes forever.

Alecto Avatar

Your skin tone/coloring: Light ot medium-light, golden.
Where do you apply your makeup? In a spare bedroom that I’ve turned into an art studio.
What kind of lighting do you use? A Zadro circular fluorescent lighted mirror.
How long does it take? Longer than I need it to — I dawdle while I decide how to approach my “blank canvas,” and I listen to music and sip coffee, so a looooong time (really, it’s about the coffee). Maybe … 40-45 minutes?
