Survey Says... November 21st, 2018
Happy Wednesday! Here's this week's survey, which you can copy and paste and share as a comment.
- Your skin tone/coloring:
- Skincare product you’re most thankful for?
- Hair product you’re most thankful for?
- Complexion product you’re most thankful for?
Your skin tone/coloring: light-medium, warm undertones
Skincare product you’re most thankful for? BHA for sure! The Paula’s Choice lotion saved my skin from both breakouts and flakiness.
Hair product you’re most thankful for? Leave-on conditioner or heat protection. Now that my hair is shorter I need less conditioner and I style it more so a good heat protection product can do a lot.
Complexion product you’re most thankful for? Tinted moisturizers with SPF, love a product that can do both!
Your skin tone/coloring: It’s next to my name! (plus blue-green eyes)
Skincare product you’re most thankful for? There are so many, tbh! First; FAB Pure Mineral Sunscreen Moisturizer spf40. Been using it for at least 4 years because it doesn’t break me out, plus it is a mineral sunscreen as opposed to a chemical sunscreen. Which is something I’m not averse to in a foundation, but not something I want as a first layer. Another blessing has to be the products I consistently use that have retinol, vite C, BHA/AHA’s and peptides.
Hair product you’re most thankful for? My demi-permanent hair color to refill my waning hair pigmentation. Currently in love with the one I buy at Sally’s Beauty, Ion Color Brilliance Demi Color followed with Ion Color Sealant Conditioner. Now if *only* there was a pill one could take that would re-pigment graying, fading hair!
Complexion product you’re most thankful for? Toss-up between Hourglass Mineral Veil Primer and its perfect inexpensive dupe by Nyx Angel Veil Primer or Hourglass Dim Light Ambient Light Powder. Probably need a slightly lighter shade for deep winter to get that lit up airbrushed effect that Dim Light gives me for around 8 months.
Well, I feel like an idiot…confused between skin care and complexion, but I think by complexion you mean makeup, so I’ll answer that way. Lol
Skin tone: Light neutral, combination
Skincare product you’re most thankful for: Clarisonic Mia. My face just doesn’t feel clean without it. I use it with Clinique Mild Liquid Soap, which I’m also thankful for. Why stop at two? I’m also thankful for Kiehl’s Creme de Corps.
Hair product you’re most thankful for: Volumizing mousse. I don’t have a favorite brand (yet), but I’m thankful this kind of product exists.
Complexion product you’re most thankful for: Estée Lauder Double Wear, which gets me as close to flawless as my skin will ever look.
The skincare product that has made the biggest difference for me is really two…first, Stridex pads!! I know, they’re not fancy and they’re not for everyone, but the difference they have made for seborrheic dermatitis is amazing. The other is not actually skincare, but hormonal birth control, which all but eradicated the painful cystic acne I had before starting it.
Hair product I’m thankful for? Well, in the same vein as Stridex, I’ll go with Nizoral shampoo. The S.D. on my face was uncomfortable, but on my scalp, it was unbearable. Now it’s completely under control. Shout-out to deep conditioners in general (I’ve used a couple by Devacurl and Shea Moisture), though, for preventing my wavy curls from splitting and tangling too much while I grow my hair out long enough to donate it.
Complexion product that has done the most for me…does sunscreen count? I guess Tarte’s Shape Tape does help on the few days I decide to actually wear it (I feel like I’ll never finish this friggin tube!!).
Your skin tone/coloring: Fair with pink undertones
Skincare product you’re most thankful for? Serums – loving the Lancome Gentifique one. And I’m also loving the farmacy honey mask.
Hair product you’re most thankful for? I love the Sebastian Drench conditioner so much. I can’t use the shampoo and conditioner at the same time – makes my hair too greasy, but I love the conditioner paired with a different shampoo.
Complexion product you’re most thankful for? I’m currently super grateful for the tarte vitamin C eye cream. It seems to actually temporarily lighten my dark circles, which are hereditary and worsened by lack of sleep – being a mom of a toddler is rough on the eyes. lol
PS I tried to sign up for the site but it’s asking for some sort of access code to join. I only get a verifying link but no code to input when I click on the link.
Looking into it, Sandy! If you want to give me the user name you signed up with, we’ll take a deeper dive into your case but are also looking into it more generally!
Thank you! It may also be my super tech unsavvy-ness. It’s taken me this long to figure out I should sign up. lol My username is sandys.
Your skin tone/coloring: Light neutral beige with a hint of olive green
Skincare product you’re most thankful for? I will generalize and say Vitamin C products since they seem to give me the most long term satisfaction for my complexion. Drunk Elephant C-Tango for eyes and DCL Dermatologic C Scape high potency night booster 30 for face.
Hair product you’re most thankful for? Elizabeth and James dry shampoo!
Complexion product you’re most thankful for? two discontinued products.. ugh. La Mer, the original powder and Sunday Riley Influencer foundation. I contacted SR and was informed they will release a new version of Influencer next spring. How much you want to bet I will hate it given I absolutely love the original. Still, there is hope.
Your skin tone/coloring: Very fair with neutral undertones
Skincare product you’re most thankful for? Ultra Sheer Dry-Touch Sunscreen: It doesn’t make my face any more greasy like other sunscreens do, so I can wear it under makeup.
Hair product you’re most thankful for? L’oreal Excellence Hicolor Hilights for Dark Hair in Magenta. It’s been my color for the last couple years, and I still love it.
Complexion product you’re most thankful for? 1) NYX Angel Veil Skin Perfecting Primer: Helps my foundation last longer and not oxidize on my oily skin without feeling too slick from silicone. 2) Lancome Teint Idole 24H Long Wear Foundation: Covers my cystic acne breakouts; doesn’t feel mask-like/heavy; has a color/undertone match for me.
Sunscreen brand is Neutrogena. (Typing with a migraine…again. lol)
I hope your migraine gets better Rachel, how awful for you.
And yes, I should have also mentioned in the skincare section about sunscreens too. I use the La Roche Posay Ultra Light sunscreen 50+ and it also works as a primer.
Just reading you comment and I almost regret not choosing SPF as a skincare product… although it doesn’t show the quick results as chemical exfoliants or retinol, SPF is the long term skin savior. 😀
Your skin tone/coloring: Light-Medium with warm yellow undertone (NC 20-25)
Skincare product you’re most thankful for? I’m torn apart between a good formulated chemical exfoliate and retinol serum… these types of product completely transformed my skin for the better. But if I was to choose only one product, it would be a BHA product (my favorite in terms of results is the Paula Choice gel).
Hair product you’re most thankful for? Hair oils that are lightweight, hydrate hair without weighting it down (Verb Ghost Oil or the Moroccanoil Light treatment are both amazing).
Complexion product you’re most thankful for? Concealer (since I can also use a good concealer as a foundation).
Skin tone: Very fair with neutral undertones.
Skincare product most thankful for: Until recently I would have answered Good Genes as it was my acid of choice for several years. I have in the past 3 weeks been trying out the Farmacy Honeymoon Glow and am finding that I like it and it is significantly cheaper than SR. We will see over the long haul. I also have to give a shout out to the two Blythe products I purchased, the Tundra Chaga and the Essence. I am loving both of them and how they make my face feel.
Lastly, sunscreen. It took a while for me to commit to a sunscreen and I have been hopping around using testers from different product lines. Recently, I have been using the Kate Somerville one and really liking it. Why it has to be an expensive one, I don’t know!!
Hair product most thankful for: Bumble and Bumble Texture Powder
Complexion product: I think I answered this under skin care but I will go with a makeup product for this answer and say Guerlain Meteorites.
Your skin tone/colouring: Porcelain, with pink undertones
Skincare product you’re most thankful for? Facial oils have been the game changer for me – whether it be argon oil or chia seed oil or a bit of a mixture of oils – they really work on my mature skin and leave it soft and supple. The best bit is that the oils are not expensive.
Hair product you’re most thankful for? Volumizing shampoos that are gentle on coloured hair and leave it clean and shiny.
Complexion product you’re most thankful for? Definitely foundation, particularly the development of foundations with differing undertones. Once upon a time, all foundations had either neutral or yellow undertones and none of them worked on me. It was when I found out about pink undertones, and realised that this was my issue with foundations, that I finally got the foundations I was needing.
Your skin tone/coloring: fair, cool
Skincare product you’re most thankful for? Embryolisse face cream, Kiehl’s day time and night time oils and Clarins Super Restorative eye cream
Hair product you’re most thankful for? it’s discontinued but Ojon Damage Reverse Serum, AG Firewall flatiron spray, the original Moroccan Oil and a whole bunch of Phyto products
Complexion product you’re most thankful for? My Foreo Luna and also La Roche Posay sunscreen (the very milky, liquid-y one)
Yeeesh – how could I forget the Estee Edit Treat+Prime+Glow (or whatever the name is). I have 3 bottles of it and may pick up another one as I get close to finishing the one I’m currently using.
Skin tone/coloring: Fairest, pink to neutral undertones
Skincare: that’s easy The Ordinary! Especially Buffet and HA. Their prices are excellent! Also Elizavecca Hell Pore and the Milky Piggy Clay Bubble Mask, Sunday Riley Good Genes(the US Lactic Acid Version)
Hair product: Bumble + bumble Volumizing Spray, Argon Oil, and Ogx Biotin Shampoo.
Complexion product: Benefit The Porefessional, NYX Angel Veil, Too Faced Born this Way Sculpting Concealer
Skintone: Medium Warm
Skincare product I’m most thankful for: Retin A
Haircare Product I’m most thankful for: Ouidad Vitacurl Tres Effects Gel (I’m seriously thankful for the whole line)
Complexion product I’m most thankful for: Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk Foundation
Your skin tone/coloring: Fair, warmish undertone (MAC NC10-15)
Skincare product you’re most thankful for? My Clarisonic Mia 2! And it was a Christmas gift a few years ago too, to make me extra thankful
Hair product you’re most thankful for? Another Christmas gift from a few years ago, my Harry Josh 1-Inch Marcel curling iron. Heats up fast, not too heavy, makes great soft waves on my slippery hair
Complexion product you’re most thankful for? The Smashbox Studio Skin Hydrating 15-Hour foundation in shade 1.05 because it’s a flawless shade match and a gorgeous formula
Skin tone/coloring: light medium neutral, blue eyes, chocolate brown hair with magenta highlights
Skincare product for which I am most thankful would have to be prescription tretinoin, which I have been using regularly for nearly 40 years. Once upon a time it.
helped my acne and then did double duty to forestall serious lines and sun damage. Glycolic acid products are a close second.
Haircare product for which I am most thankful . There isn’t a product. It would have to be several terrific stylists and colorists I have worked with over the years.
Complexion product for which I am most thankful. At this stage of my skin life, it would have to be blurring primers.
Your skin tone/coloring: Fair-light
Skincare product you’re most thankful for?
The Ordinary Borage Seed Oil. This has calmed some of the redness of my rosacea.
Hair product you’re most thankful for?
Chi Silk Infusion. I got a sample of this and it makes my hair feel so soft and smooth!
Complexion product you’re most thankful for?
Missha M Perfect Cover BB Cream. It has sunscreen in it and doesn’t dry out my skin.
Well, this is where I can contribute a bit 🙂
Your skin tone/coloring: NARS Gobi (SheerGlow) NC15
Skincare product you’re most thankful for? I’m way too used to serums and creams, but if I had to name just one, let it be Origins Ginzing Ultra-Hydrating Energy-Boosting Cream. Leaves my skin well cared for and soft.
Hair product you’re most thankful for? Will sound a bit “exotic” to you, guys, but Mise-en-Scene Anti-Aging Full and Thick Shampoo. It’s a Korean brand.
Complexion product you’re most thankful for? Ah! It is definitely Smashbox Photo Finish Primer Oil, saves my dry skin and helps keeping my makeup nice and smooth during the day. Also, there is MAC
Hyper Real Foundation in Gold FX. I apply it after the oil and before foundation and my face glows from within. A little goes a long way as well.
Medium tan skin tone.
Vitamin serums from The Ordinary.
Verb sea salt hair spray.
Catrice face primer.
Skintone – NC-25-ish and lean neutral
Skincare Thankfulness – Josh Rosebrook’s Daily Nutrient SPF (i would bathe in this stuff, if i could afford it…)
Hair Product Thankfulness – Tabitha James Kraan Shampoo, 4 in 1 conditioner and Organic Hair Oil – this line has brought my fine, brittle aging hair back to life!!!
Complexion Thankfulness – this is tough but i’ll go with foundation/serum by Gressa
Happy Thanksgiving Christine and to all of these fabulous contributors. I’m so thankful for the endless tips (and tricks) that i’ve read about on this site.
Neutral with yellow to olive undertones. Ole Henriksen Banana Bright Eye Creme – it sits beautifully under makeup and has really made a difference to my under eyes. Pureology Smoothing Lotion… makes my hair sleek and silky without any heaviness. IT Cosmetics CC Cream. I’ve struggled with foundation colours and formulas for years and this has just worked so well for me.
