Best: La Roche Posay Anthelios XL SPF 50+ Extreme Fluid. It sinks into the skin really well and doesn’t sting my eyes.
Worst: Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Dry-Touch Sunblock SPF 70.
Not worst due to lack of protection but worst in my opinion because it stings my eyes and is very thick.
If I was out in the sun, I would reapply every couple of hours due to my pale Irish skin. 🙂

Best sunscreen: a hat, protective clothing, and seeking shade.
Worst sunscreen: All that I’ve tried have broken me out on my face, have not helped prevent burns even when constantly reapplied, and are not gross feeling.
Reapply: I don’t wear sunscreen, so I don’t reapply it. When I was younger and wore it when spending summers outside, I’d have it reapplied every few hours at the most, or every time I’d get out of the water.

You should try dermalogica super sensitive face block. I could never find a faceblock that didn’t irritate my skin or feel super gross, I mean I would put it on and literally wihtin a minute it felt like my face was on fire, but then a few years ago I tried this and I love it! It’s very thin and does not leave me feeling greasy at all, I put it on first thing after I cleanse, then put on my mosturizer and then finish with my jane ireaale mineral makeup (which if some of you out there have not tried, do it now, I mean it is AMAZING). It’s a little bit more pricey, I think around $45, but I love it and live in a city were sunblock is a neccesity since it is always bright and sunny. They sell it at Ulta, so next time you go there try it out, or maybe ask them if they can put some in a sample jar for you (if they even do that I’m not sure). Hope that helps!

Best Sunscreen: Olay Defense SPF 30
Worst Sunscreen: Neutrogena Sensitive Sunscreen SPF 60….gave me cysts!
How Often?: I apply once on an average day…if longer, twice.

Erika Avatar

Best sunscreen… Aveeno Hydrosport Sunblock Spray with SPF 85

Worst sunscreen… Banana Boat Sport Performance Active Max Protect

How often/reapply…Every hour

Arienne Avatar

Best sunscreen? Blue Lizard SPF 30. It’s a physical sunscreen, so it’s thick, but works really well.

Worst sunscreen? Any kind of chemical sunscreen on my face is just painful!

How often do you reapply sunscreen? Not often enough!

fiaspice Avatar

Best sunscreen? Neutrogena Ultra sheer body mist. So easy to apply and not greassy at all
Worst sunscreen? Banana Boat Continuous spray, so oily, it’s gross!
How often do you reapply sunscreen? On a day out under the sun, each hour or more (always with SPF 50-60). I burn in like 5 minutes without sunscreen.

Monika-Luiza Avatar

Best sunscreen? la roche-posay anthelios xl spf50 or the tinted version
Worst sunscreen? every sunscreen that is made for kids 😀 so whitening
How often do you reapply sunscreen? depends on the day, when I don’t spend much time (less than 5min) outside during the day, I don’t reapply otherwise I about 2 times a day, if i spend the whole day outside, I reapply every 2 hours

shisedo 38 is the only chemical ss ive tried that does not irritate my skin, and i like clarins uv+ for a physical ss

everything else?

i dont normally reapply after my morning application, i just wear a hat. but clarins has some nice spray suncreens that i might try for reapp

For my face I love Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Liquid Sunblock, it’s not oily and only takes a few seconds to apply and absorb, so it’s great to use right before I put on makeup. My favorite body sunscreen is Hawaiian Tropic Sheer Touch Sunblock Lotion. Mostly because it has a nice coconut smell.

I dislike any sunblock that is greasy, and I don’t particularly like any of the spray sunblocks.

I usually apply sunscreen on my face every morning before I put on my makeup, and on my body only when I expect to be out in the sun.

Courtney Avatar

Best: Aveeno! I love how smooth it is.

Worst: Anything gritty. Or the sport stuff that smells like bug repellent.

I apply once a day, generously. I don’t spend much time in the sun anyway. Try to avoid it, actually.

Stephanie Avatar

Best: Shiseido Ultimate Sun Protection Cream For Face SPF 55 PA+++

Worst: Anything with a bunch of chemical sunscreens in it (owie!). That’s why I like the Shiseido one. I’ll stick with titanium dioxide and zinc oxide, thank you.

If I’m just going to work or I’m going to be outside for less than a couple hours, I’ll just apply once a day. Otherwise, I try to wear no makeup so I can reapply every few hours.

BEST – for face is the La Roche-Posoy Athelios XL in 50+ Creme Fondante (this is the version for dry skin). No perfumes or parabens. Then again you *have* to love the old Ambre Solaire oil which smells gorgeous. It’s what everyone used to wear on the French beaches whan i was growing up.
REAPPLY – Because i only do my make up once a day i don’t reapply – not good i know. If i was in the sun i would only wear the sunscreen, reapply regularly and not bother with make-up.

Marian Avatar

Best sunscreen? I’m liking Clinique City Block or Neutrogena Dry Touch
Worst sunscreen? ?
How often do you reapply sunscreen?
Under makeup….just once. If I’m swimming, every 2 hours

BeautifulCanvas Avatar

Best sunscreen: Arcona rezone spf 40, Olay complete spf 30 and Shiseido.
Worst sunscreen: Aveeno ageless spf 30 – it peeled and peeled, so annoying.
I apply sunscreen daily but I don’t reapply to my face (just body if needed). It’s hard, how do you reapply once you already have makeup on? Of course if I go to the beach then no makeup so I can reapply.

Lee Avatar

Best sunscreen? For my face: Elta Clear 46, recommended by my dermatologist. It’s very light weight, non greasy and perfect under make-up. For my body: Hawaiian Tropic Sport has always been really long lasting for me.

Worst sunscreen? No-Ad. Greasy and I don’t think it’s that effective.

How often do you reapply sunscreen? When I’m outside a lot, every two hours or so.

FlyingBuffalo Avatar

Best sunscreen? Eucerin is pretty good for an ever-day facial sunblock. I like Neutrogena Dry-Touch SPF 40 for my body.
Worst Sunscreen? Cetaphil Daily Facial Mosturizer SPF 50. It makes your skin look greasy even though it’s supposed to be oil-free and it emphasizes peeling skin instead of moisturizing it.
How often do I reapply? Pretty much never, unless I go swimming. Terrible, I know, but it’s hard to find the time!

Carrie Ann Avatar

Best sunscreen? I haven’t found my perfect sunscreen yet, but I like Kate Somerville Protect SPF 55 Serum. (I’ve been trying out different samples.)

Worst sunscreen? I can’t stand anything that’s greasy. That drives me nuts.

How often do you reapply sunscreen? If I’m at the beach, I’ll usually reapply once, then stay in the shade when I think I’ve had enough sun.

Rosanna Avatar

Best: anything with mexoryl… usually La Roche Posay Anthelios
Worse: anything with avobenzone
How often: as soon as my skin starts being uncomfortable

Emily2 Avatar

Best: Vichy or La Roche Posay (La Roche Posay is the best thing I’ve ever put on my face!)
Worst: Neutrogena Dry-Touch (that thing made both my boyfriend and I break out in CYSTIC PIMPLES ARGHHHH took like 2-3 weeks to clear — from the looks of it, I’m not the only one!)
Reapply maybe couple times a day if I’m super sweaty.

Renata Avatar

Best sunscreen: Racco Cosmetics Oil Free facial Sunscreen SPF 30
Worst sunscreen: Banana Boat
How often you reapply: I put it on in the morning before I go to work

Amanda A Avatar

Best sunscreen? I really like Shiseido because it leaves my skin very matte even on humid days. I like their tinted ones as well for days when I don’t feel like wearing foundation too.
Worst sunscreen? A body-only sunscreen when used on the face. A lot of body sunscreens have too much oil in them for your face.
How often do you reapply sunscreen? After swimming if I am going to be outside some more and often in the afternoon, again, if I am going to be outside more.

Renata Bell Avatar

Best: la Roche posey anthelios

Worst: neutrogena dry touch. It feels weird on the skin, smells bad, strong chemical smell.

In a normal day I only apply in the morning and after the gym shower in the afternoon. When I don’t go to the gym, I only apply in the morning (I know, bad… But how do you reapply sunscreen when you have your whole make up on?).
But if I go to the beach or swimming pool or have lots of sun exposure, I would reapply every 2 hours.

Sheila Avatar

Best: AmorePacific Natural Protector or Biore UV Moist Face Milk (from Asia)
Worst: Any drugstore brand…. ew
I apply it once in the morning and that’s it. I’m usually not out in the sun a lot, so once in the morning is usually enough.

Best Sunscreen – Depends what part of the body we are talking about. I like Peter Thomas Roth Uber Dry spf 30 Sunscreen when I use one on my face…and that’s only on days I don’t use one of my 3 spf tinted moisturizers, all that have spf 30 in them. For the body, I like La Roche Posay Anthelios XL SPF 50 but for me it’s cost prohibitive. Shisedo & Clarins both have good formulations I like for face & body. In the cheaper end lines, my dermatologist says Banana Boat Sports Performance, Blue Lizard & No Brand Name spf 50 – anything that has total physical bloc vs. chemical for both UVA and UVB. I like Badger Natural Sunscreen as well. I do have a shirt and a hat that are made with Sombrelle in them give an spf 30 block.

Worst Sunscreen is anything that is got a chemical block vs physical. I have not tried anything in so long that I could put in the worst i really don’t have one. I always bring my own products where i go – never get stuck having to borrow. That’s when I would run into ‘the worst.’

I always have spf on my lips except at night in bed. I reapply my lips a good 4-6 times per day.

If I am outside, I will re-apply to my arms (or any exposed body parts other than face) ever 2 hrs – more often if I have been in water or really been sweating it off. If it’s a casual non makeup day – ditto to my face. If it’s a makeup kind of day, then I don’t take my skin care off I started off with – I will refresh with an spf 30 mineral product – usually use one by Peter Thomas Roth or some times it’s a BE spf Mineral Veil.

Best: I wear Neutrogena Healthy Defense SPF 50 moisturizer and Physicians Formula Healthy Wear SPF 50 powder.

Worst: Hawaiian Tropic. I used to apply it on my body, but it makes my eczema show up.

Reapply: I just usually apply once in the morning and keep my powder compact in my purse. I stay inside mostly.

Sandhya Avatar

Best: So far, I like Murad’s moisturizer with oil-control and SPF 15, and I am beginning to LOVE Peter Thomas Roth’s instant brush-on sunscreen. It comes in powder form, already loaded into a brush. It’s so convenient to use and carry, and allows me to easily touch up throughout the day. In the past, I’ve had lots of luck with Clinique’s City Block sunscreens for more heavy-duty outdoor days.
Worst: Most of the others I’ve tried.
I apply in the morning, am in the office all day, and I reapply before I leave for the day. Outdoors, I’m not as good about re-applying.

Friederike Avatar

best: Shiseido urban environment (both SPF 30 and SP 50), no breakouts!
worst: so far, verything else didnt work for me (neutrogena, la roche,…)
Application: in the morning before I apply make up and if necessary during my lunchbreak, but most often i only apply it in the morning.

Best sunscreen? For my body, I use Banana Boat Baby sunscreen SPF 60, as I have sensitive skin. For my face, I use the Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Dry-Touch, as I like that it dries to a kind of matte finish and doesn’t stay oily on my face.
Worst sunscreen? I’ve never really used one that I didn’t like, because I found Banana Boat fairly early on and have used it for quite some time.
How often do you reapply sunscreen? Totally depends on how long I intend to be outside, and also if I’m going to be in the water or not. If I’m spending the day at the beach, every one to two hours, or as soon as I get out of the water, whichever comes first.

Nicky Avatar

BEST: RACCO’S SPF 30 Facial Sunscreen (code 3055). Very light, it also prevents against premature aging. I love everything about it. I buy it online at racco.com

Shani A Avatar

Best sunscreen? Dermadoctor Ain’t Misbehavin SPF 30 PA+++

Worst sunscreen? Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Liquid Daily Sunblock SPF 55

How often do you reapply sunscreen? Once a day unless I’m spending time outdoors. If outdoors, I try to remember to apply it after a few hours, or after being in water for a long time.
