Comments that do not adhere to our comment policy may be removed. Discussion and debate are highly encouraged but we expect community members to participate respectfully. Please keep discussion on-topic, and if you have general feedback, a product review request, an off-topic question, or need technical support, please contact us!

Please help us streamline the comments' section and be more efficient: double-check the post above for more basic information like pricing, availability, and so on to make sure your question wasn't answered already. Comments alerting us to typos or small errors in the post are appreciated (!) but will typically be removed after errors are fixed (unless a response is needed).

We appreciate enthusiasm for new releases but ask readers to please hold questions regarding if/when a review will be posted as we can't commit to or guarantee product reviews. We don't want to set expectations and then disappoint readers as even products that are swatched don't always end up being reviewed due to time constraints and changes in priorities! Thank you for understanding!

Your skin tone/coloring: Under my name (blue-green eyes, dark hair)

Pastels or saturated colors for eyeshadows? Saturated in most cases, but I can get away with shimmery light shades on my mobile lid area.

Subtle or bold lip? Depends on mood, outfit and venue, but I love both types equally!

Matte or shimmer cheeks? In their full-on forms, probably neither. I am more inclined to use and definitely prefer skin-finish mattes and luminous semi-shimmery blush types over flat mattes or high-shine shimmers.

Your skin tone/coloring: pale, cool
Pastels or saturated colors for eyeshadows? saturated
Subtle or bold lip? in between but leaning more bold….MAC Craving is pretty much my perfect colour and level of “boldness”
Matte or shimmer cheeks? sheen rather than shimmer but I’ll take shimmer over matte most of the time.

Your skin tone/coloring: Light-medium with warm yellow undertones, dark brown eyes and hair.

Pastels or saturated colors for eyeshadows? Saturated, no pastels for me.

Subtle or bold lip? Bold lips.

Matte or shimmer cheeks? Always matte cheeks, shimmers don’t look good on me.

Your skin tone/coloring: above with freckles, green eyes, warm brown hair.

Pastels or saturated colors for eyeshadows? Generally saturated colors! Pastels make for a fun accent though.

Subtle or bold lip? Usually more subtle.

Matte or shimmer cheeks? Neither. I like glowy cheeks without the shimmer.

Your skin tone/colouring: Porcelain, with pink undertones

Pastels or saturated colors for eyeshadows? Definitely saturated colours for me – particularly neutral ones.

Subtle or bold lip? Bold lips all the way – Spicy shades for me.

Matte or shimmer cheeks? Matte cheeks to counteract the shimmery eyeshadows and bold lips….

Your skin tone/coloring: Fair to medium
Pastels or saturated colors for eyeshadows? I love nude and pastel shadows with glitter on top
Subtle or bold lip? My lips but better…a pink nude
Matte or shimmer cheeks? I always have shimmer. If the blush is matte I use a highlighter for shimmer.

Pastels or saturated colors for eyeshadows? Pastels seem to be purely stuck in springtime for me, maybe summer. But saturated colors are something I can wear all year

Subtle or bold lip? I’m torn, I love both. Basically the only lip color I don’t like is an extremely light “concealer lip” color. If I had to choose one I think it would be a bold lip

Matte or shimmer cheeks? Shimmer all the way

Your skin tone/coloring: Above, grey-green eyes and dark brown hair.
Pastels or saturated colors for eyeshadows? Saturated, I don’t go near pastels, ever. Pastels makes me look terminally ill.
Subtle or bold lip? Both depending on the rest of the makeup.
Matte or shimmer cheeks? Matte if I have to chose, but I prefer sating finishes or slightly shimmery, but not full on shimmers, if that makes sense.

April Avatar

Your skin tone/coloring: Under my name. I’m Asian with dark hair and dark eyes.

Pastels or saturated colors for eyeshadows? Saturated colors because pastels can sometimes wash me out.

Subtle or bold lip? Bold lips! The bolder the better I say 😍

Matte or shimmer cheeks? Shimmer cheeks. I like to glisten. Now that I’m getting older I appreciate a bit of glow.

Alice Avatar

Your skin tone/coloring: Lightest, cool yellow undertones with t-zone redness.

Pastels or saturated colors for eyeshadows? Saturated! I’ll sometimes go for a lavender or robin’s egg blue as an accent though.

Subtle or bold lip? Bold, and more often than not a non-traditional color like blue, teal, green, or purple.

Matte or shimmer cheeks? Satin/shimmer.
