Brand I’m Loving: Make Up Forever (thanks to your recommendations, Christine!)
Brand I’m Most Disappointed by: Tarte. I am done, so done.
Brand I’m Most Surprised by: Clinique. I had passed them over for years after using them way back in the day, but the Pop Blushes and the 8 pan palettes are great.

What brand have you been loving most in 2015 so far? Urban Decay, Nyx, MUFE, BareMinerals, Notouriously Morbid.

What brand has disappointed you most in 2015 so far? MAC – so much wasted potential; iffy quality. Stila – so boring lately.

What brand has surprised you most in 2015 so far? Urban Decay coming out with the blushes and new eyeshadows: And they’re not all nudes!

What brand have you been loving most in 2015 so far? I’ve tried a lot of brands this year that I never tried before, but I think Makeup Geek eyeshadows are a consistent favorite, as well as MAC. I was never a huge MAC fan before, I’m not the biggest fan of their eyeshadows (I know that’s an unpopular opinion, they just didn’t work for me!), but their blushes are really off the charts!

What brand has disappointed you most in 2015 so far? Tarte. I haven’t actually bought anything from them this year, and I think that says a lot. They just bore me, and the palettes they’ve been putting out are so lackluster.

What brand has surprised you most in 2015 so far? Like Christina, probably also Clinique. My mom used to use Clinique a lot and, because of that, I always thought of it as a brand for older people. But the Cheek Pops really impressed me! I have one already and am planning on trying out a few others.

What brand have you been loving most in 2015 so far?: probably too faced actually. i really want a couple of the melted metals and the sugar pop palette and it’s nice to see that they’re going darker with their bronzers too for other skin tones

What brand has disappointed you most in 2015 so far?: mac. the collections have been boring and unimpressive, imo. and lime crime. i was going to overlook their past… whatevers and buy the venus palette (those matte reds, kill me) but the whole credit fraud scandal and how it was handled turned me off of them completely. there are so many people doing liquid-to-mattes better and more consistently than they are nowadays anyway

What brand has surprised you most in 2015 so far?: urban decay. one of my favorites but i’m happy to see them doing brighter colors again

alexa Avatar

sorry – I’m also really impressed by colourpop too. i love how diverse their new highlighter collection is. i’m dying to try a few as soon as i can buy them!

What brand has disappointed you most in 2015 so far? Guerlain, I think their spring collection was a fail.
What brand has surprised you most in 2015 so far? Clarins with their beautiful Spring collection. Lancôme with their Shine Lover that I became a fan of!

My skin is medium to tan.
Loving Charlotte Tilbury, Giorgio Armani, hourglass and ABH.
Been disappointed by covergirl, nyx and Chanel.
Surprised by maybeline (I’ve tried pretty much every concealer the do and I loved them all and their mascaras are amazing too), Clinique (love their eyebrow pencil, its super great for when I have 5 minutes to slap makeup on and I love their mascaras).

â—¾Your skin tone/coloring: Medium (NC-30), warm
â—¾What brand have you been loving most in 2015 so far? NYX has come out with some great new products – high voltage lipsticks, HD blushes, and still very affordable. I’ve also discovered some great new products with e.l.f. (ultimate blending brush, HD blush, eX-tra lip gloss) and Hard Candy (Tiki highlight, Natural Eyes palette).
â—¾What brand has disappointed you most in 2015 so far? Jordana products just don’t work on me the way other people claim they do.
â—¾What brand has surprised you most in 2015 so far? I never realized the great quality of Essence products and have had so much fun stocking up on their silky touch blushes and lipliners.

Brand Disappointed By: MAC – I’ve always been a die hard, loyal MAC fan, but I’ve been extremely disappointed with most all their collections lately.
Brand Most Surprised By: Maybelline – who knew their Blackest Black eyeliner would be so amazingly black? Love it!! Also, Colour Pop – great products at great prices!

Skin Coloring: Light with warm undertones
Brand I’m Loving: Kat Von D and Urban Decay (Always a huge UD fan and I love that they’re going back to brights for summer this year- so excited about the new blushes)
Brand I’m Most Disappointed By: Tarte- As pretty as their palettes look, they just haven’t been holding up for me as far as quality and I’m tired of the boring lip releases that look so similar. Also, I don’t like the Lorac Summer releases- the spring ones were gorgeous- but the summer palette I’m having problems with, the glosses are streaky and the bronzer was only meh for me.
Brand I’m Most Surprised By: BareMinerals- I used to think they were a boring brand and granted, the packaging isn’t the most intriguing but I am loving the Color Compatibles Palette- the colors are beautiful and I am loving my mineral veil.

What brand have you been loving most in 2015 so far? Nars
What brand has disappointed you most in 2015 so far? Hourglass
What brand has surprised you most in 2015 so far? Clinique

Meghan Avatar

Just dawned on me to say why! Nars because of the All Day Luminous foundation replacing the Sheer Matte foundation. Nars foundations never worked for my oily skin & now I’m loving them. Also the dual intensity palette.
Hourglass because the bar was set so high with the Ambient Lighting Powders & blushes, and they fell flat on the eye shadow palettes. I’m hoping for a bronzer palette/ redemption and I’d like them to include a cool-toned brown.
Clinique because of the cheek pop colour extension, and lip pops.

Your skin tone/coloring: light warm

What brand have you been loving most in 2015 so far? Urban Decay for make-up, Clinique for skincare.

What brand has disappointed you most in 2015 so far? MAC has had some great highs but unfortunately also some really unforgivable lows.

What brand has surprised you most in 2015 so far? Makeup Geek and ColourPop. Been seeing a lot of those brands on here and everything always looks great.

Skin coloring: Very fair, NW5-10

Brand I’m Loving: Probably Colourpop. So cheap, so many choices. They have a very basic model (everything comes in a pot with the same formula, all lipsticks have matching liner) but somehow the simplicity of the streamline seems refreshing and innovative. It’s genius.

Brand I’m Most Disappointed by: First Aid Beauty–I’ve tried several of their skin products and just aren’t finding them impressive at all (but I love their lip ointment)

Brand I’m Most Surprised by: Clinique I think. I have always thought them to be pretty unexciting, but their cheek pops really won me over.

What brand have you been loving most in 2015 so far? Makeup geek shadows have really been a game changer. The price point is awesome and the quality is just as good as the more expensive brands. And Lorac shadows also. I adore my Lorac 2 palette, tons of mattes and shimmers and all of them look great for work/special occasions.
What brand has disappointed you most in 2015 so far? Elf blushes are not deep enough for my skin tone and they fade really fast on me. Love the brushes just not the lasting power of their matte blushes. Also melt cosmetics eyeshadow stacks have left me underwhelmed ever since I bought them to the point that I just tossed them. I don’t regret it and I probably won’t buy anything else from them even though their lippies are very matte and true to color.
What brand has surprised you most in 2015 so far? Jeffree Star lipsticks have been a hit or miss for women with pigmented lips but their red rum and unicorn blood are epic. The nude shade, bright pink, and neon coral are only wearable when mixed with a dark lipstick or dark lipliner unless you have paler skin than me. His formula is kiss proof, food proof, and wears evenly all day with minimal fading.

What brand have you been loving most in 2015 so far? Urban Decay
What brand has disappointed you most in 2015 so far? Hourglass (those shadow palettes – compare them in price and quality to the MUFE palettes!)
What brand has surprised you most in 2015 so far? Hourglass (and, again, not in a good way) but in a good way, I’d say either MAC (because of the shadows they’re bringing back) or Clinique. I’d pretty much passed over all Clinique colour cosmetics til last year and I’m continuing to love them this year too.

What brand have you been loving most in 2015 so far? Becca. I bought the liquid Shimmering Skin Perfector for the first time in January and it’s the product I’ve used most lately. I fully intend to make more highlighter purchases from them. It was far better than I could have expected.

What brand has disappointed you most in 2015 so far? MAC. I really don’t know if anything drastically changed. I had only purchased from their limited collections for about a year and half of occasional spending and I’ve never been disappointed to miss something. No hype is worth that effort. I’d rather purchase from the permanent things that I can read about in advance.

What brand has surprised you most in 2015 so far? ColourPop has my attention the most so far. Great price point for the quality.

Your skin tone/coloring: Medium-tan with golden undertones (NC35)
What brand have you been loving most in 2015 so far? ILNP. Their Ultra Chrome Flakie nail polishes are unreal, and they make amazing holographic and multichromatic polishes too.
What brand has disappointed you most in 2015 so far? MAC. Can they stop with the extremely limited edition releases? I also think they should reformulate some of their eyeshadows because the range in quality is ridiculous. They have smooth, pigmented eyeshadows like Amber Lights but also chalky, patchy eyeshadows like Beauty Marked. Why not formulate everything to perform well?
What brand has surprised you most in 2015 so far? Colourpop. I don’t like how their brand image is so aggressively youthful and trendy (it’s really cheesy to me, and I’m 23 so I should “get it”), but their products are great. All of the lip and eye products I have work really well except for Bae.

What brand has surprised you most in 2015 so far?: MUFE, those eyeshadows!!!

Skintone/Coloring: Medium with olive undertones, deep brunette hair, teal green eyes w/ gold flecks What brand have you been loving most during 2015: Urban Decay and MAC, it’s a tie. And Clinique for the new Cheek Pops colors!
What brand has disappointed you most during 2015: Hourglass because of those awful e.s. palettes! YSL because of their liquid e.s. formula looking like it came from Dollar Tree!
What brand has surprised you the most during 2015: Due to the sheer volume of new, and for the most part, high quality additions to their permanent stock; MAC and Urban Decay.

What brand have you been loving most in 2015 so far? Colourpop, Kat Von D, Origins for skin care.

What brand has disappointed you most in 2015 so far? Tarte, which is a shame because I really like the Tartelette palette and their blushes. But none of their newer things has piqued my interest at all; they’re boring and the quality is meh. Nars. I was massively underwhelmed by their spring collection.

What brand has surprised you most in 2015 so far? Colourpop and Sephora’s house brand. I love pretty much everything I’ve tried from Colourpop and I’ve been impressed with Sephora’s eyeliners and their chubbier shadow sticks.

skin: NC 15
Loving: Charlotte Tilbury (lippies, specifically)
Disappointed: Armani (Luminous silk foundation wasn’t luminous nor felt like silk)

Brand I’m loving: Too Faced. Somehow most of my makeup purchases this year have been Too Faced!
Brand I’m disappointed by: Tarte. Quality is too inconsistent, especially in palettes.
Brand I’m surprised by: ColourPop. Every ColourPop product I’ve tried has blown me away.

Skin tone: NC50
Brand I’m loving: MUFE eyeshadows are the best. Consistently creamy with a vast range of colors and textures. I would love to get every single MUFE eyeshadow shade that compliments my skin tone lol.

Brand that disappointed me most: Mac. I’ll leave it at that.
Brand that surprised me: Clinique has been a disappointment for me since their skin products broke me out 25 years ago. I tried their matte foundation last summer and hated it. I took a 3rd risk and tried the Cola Pop blush during the VIB rouge sale and I actually like it. It’s very pretty and so far, no breakouts.

Your skin tone/coloring:
Fair / Light Warm. In Guerlain LdP I’m Amber Pale #31 and in MAC Studio Pressed NC15.

– What brand have you been loving most in 2015 so far?
Guerlain for their LdP foundation, Les Voilettes powder and Meteorites pressed compact (thank you Christine for introducing me to them with your reviews!) NARS for their dual intensity products, Audacious lipsticks and matte blushes. MAC for some of their core eyeshadows and lipsticks, and Urban Decay for their eyeshadows and always their eyeliners!

– What brand has disappointed you most in 2015 so far?
Bare minerals and Tarte have for the last couple of years actually. Never did I think I’d say that as I had used both of those product lines for over 11 years! However, in both lines many of their new products make me break out, especially all the pressed items from Bare Minerals, and the new formula Cheek Stains from Tarte. The cheek stains used to be a holy grail product for me, but now that they’re not oil free, I can no longer use them. Plus, they’re now HALF the size for the same price!! That alone absolutely disgusted me with Tarte!

– What brand has surprised you most in 2015 so far?
I had never tried Tom Ford products until the Boys lipsticks line. I only got two, but the formula, color and staying power impressed me. However, I haven’t really tried other products from the line.

What brand has disappointed you most in 2015 so far?: lol, MakeupGeek. Yes, they have both impressed me and disappointed me this year.
What brand has surprised you most in 2015 so far?: … lol. I’ll give you one guess.

Like I’ve said in another post, I had kind of a — not bad, but definitely not good customer service experience with them, which really surprised me. I still love them but that was, eh.

What brand have you been loving most in 2015 so far? Colour Pop and Urban Decay. Both companies just have really consistently good products. Also, MUFE artist eyeshadows. I haven’t ventured out to try any other products from MUFE but I’ve been very impressed with every one of the artist eyeshadows that I’ve tried.
What brand has disappointed you most in 2015 so far? I haven’t been overly disappointed with any one particular brand. I do a lot of research before I buy things and pretty much stick to buying from the same brands. I will say, however, that while I love a couple of the Tarte blushes I don’t feel like I’m truly drawn to buy anything else from the brand. It’s a shame because I like the idea of them but then just feel kind of blah when I look at some of their eyeshadow palettes.
What brand has surprised you most in 2015 so far? I would have to say Colour Pop because they have some truly amazing products for such a reasonable price. It’s great to be able to get such quality eyeshadows for only $5. Also, Clinique because of their new cheek pops. I used to use Clinique when I was younger and then just got away from the brand because everything was just so boring to me and didn’t work for me the way I wanted. But the cheek pops are such good quality that it has me giving at least some of their line a second look.

What brand have you been loving most in 2015 so far? NARS Dual Intensity eyeshadows and blushes, Urban Decay blushes, It Cosmetics under eye concealer and brushes, Kevyn Aucoin Contour Book

What brand has disappointed you most in 2015 so far? BareMinerals…I didn’t like any of their new foundation “innovations”. I’m kind of meh on the whole line now.

What brand has surprised you most in 2015 so far? Surratt Beauty – really lived up to the hype and recommendations. The eyeshadows are amazing. L’Oreal – I might just venture to say that the Infallible Matte foundation is my HG. Maybelline – the new matte blush sticks are very nice.

Your skin tone/coloring: Fairest and neutral cool.

What brand have you been loving most in 2015 so far?: Illamasqua! I took a gamble on a blush and a shadow quad in the January sales and I loved them! I’ve since picked up a primer and a contour stick too, and love those as well. I also tried a BareMinerals shadow and some lipgloss for the first time and was impressed, but their counter staff in my local store are always rude and ignoring people so I haven’t picked up anything else yet.

What brand has disappointed you most in 2015 so far?: I’m thoroughly sick of Mac’s LE collections and poor quality by now. I feel like once I hait 23 I was too old for Mac’s bullshit, although I do still get tempted by some of their lip products. I was also disappointed with Lancome! The Hypnose Star mini was my HG but I hated the fullsize. I also love their crayon kohl pencil eyeliner but I tried the liquid liner and it was awful. And then they refused to give me a foundation sample when I went to get colour-matched which I think is crazy- my skin is super sensitive and I will never ever buy a foundation I can’t sample. That’s exactly why I look for mid-end foundations.

What brand has surprised you most in 2015 so far?: Urban Decay! They’re going back to being the UD I fell in love with in 2006 when I bought my first palette- the original Ammo Palette. Not that I don’t love my Naked 2 but neutrals can get boring. I WANT COLOUR!!! I’m pleasantly surprised by the new gloss and blush ranges.

Skin tone: brown (nw43)

Loving so far : MUFE Shadows, especially the purple blush ME912
And the highlighter side of Frenzy on Nars Dual intensity blush.
Kat Von D Lock it tattoo foundation (matches dead on)
Kiko eyeshadow. I buy these when I drive down to Miami. Cheaper prices excellent pigmentation.
Zoeva brushes – good quality and a cheaper price. Downfall is that it takes 2 weeks to ship from Germany.

Disappointments:
Sedona lace 928 brush.
Mac shine mixing medium – still trying to figure out the best way to use these

The brand that surprised me: probably Kat von D locket tattoo foundation be a use it matches me dead on. Have never worn a foundation that has! I will forever stop using MAC from now on.

What brand has disappointed you most in 2015 so far? Tom Ford and Chanel. As the price grows so do my expectations and they are not meeting them.
What brand has surprised you most in 2015 so far? Cover FX – Taking foundation to a whole new level. The drops are amazing. I use them to “fix” foundations that I like that are a little too neutral.

I am a pale, pale, pale being.

So far I have really been loving Nars this year. I have recently got back into their products. They are definitely expensive but the quality of the product is usually on par.

Some of Loreal’s stuff has disappointed me but I am not sure if I would go so far as to say they as a brand have let me down.

Nyx has definitely surprised me the most! Especially their new Micro Brow Pencil. Oh. My. God.

What brand have you been loving most in 2015 so far? MUFE and Nars. I adore the MUFE Artist Shadows! The new palettes are phenomenal (bought both and made VIB Rouge!). I have also discovered that Nars is great for so many products beyond blush. My favorite is the tinted moisturizer. I love the wide range of shades they offer in their face products. Finland is a great match for me!
What brand has disappointed you the most in 2015 so far? MAC. I love MAC, but feel their LE lines are not consistent. They need to keep up with other luxury brands. I honestly find myself buying less and less from them.
What brand has surprised you most in 2015 so far? UD moving past neutrals! Color again!

What brand have you been loving most in 2015 so far? Urban Decay has actually done well by me, lately. Most of what they’ve released has been consistently good.
What brand has disappointed you most in 2015 so far? Pretty much anyone who released a nude palette this year. ENOUGH WITH THE WARM NUDE PALETTES. There are shades other than copper and brown out there.
What brand has surprised you most in 2015 so far? Tony Surratt going to Sephora was a surprise. Always struck me as more of a high level department store brand.
