Sneak Peek: Tom Ford Spring 2016 Eyeshadow Quads

Tom Ford Honeymoon Eyeshadow Quad
Tom Ford Honeymoon Eyeshadow Quad

For spring, there are five new Tom Ford Eyeshadow Quads ($80.00 each). The information I received from corporate/PR was that the eyeshadow quads are permanent, and the majority of the stores/counters I called (about half a dozen) also stated this, though the NYC Tom Ford store said nothing was permanent. Both Nordstrom and Neiman Marcus have launched the new quads, though only the latter shows Honeymoon (but with a backorder notice and no date). I purchased all but Disco Dust (PR sample) through Neiman Marcus, but I had to reorder Honeymoon three times as they had it in stock yet backorders weren’t getting filled, so you might want to check periodically if it’s on your wish list.

It’s incredible! Might be the prettiest eyeshadow I’ve seen. I’m not drawn to the other colors but I’m tempted to get it just for that one eyeshadow. Is that crazy?

Regina Avatar

These look nice though I admit only Honeymoon looks like something worth buying and mine should be here soon!
I’m curious if you know why Honeymoon’s design is so different from the other quads? Its the only one that is embossed.
Thanks for swatching!

The Honeymoon quad can be used wet or dry.

While drooling over Honeymoon, I’ve read many rave about Disco Dust as the quiet star once they have it and work with it.

I swatched these all in-store, and my initial impressions appear to be correct. The best quality one was Honeymoon ( has the Nude Dip formula), but 2 of the lighter shades looked almost the same on my skin. The other quads have the regular TF formula, which is really hit-or-miss. I thought Lilac Dreams and Starry Night were terrible- dry, stiff, weak in pigment. Wasn’t sure about Last Dance, it has the most interesting and beautiful color combo but I have dupes, but will await your review on that one, but for $80, it needs to score an A.

I swatched Honeymoon and Nude Dip last week at NM, and all shades of Honeymoon are much warmer than Nude Dip on me. For reference, I’m very fair skinned with freckles and red hair. Warm toned.
As others have noted, this quad swatched like a dream…every bit as good as Nude Dip, which I use several times a week. For those looking for shimmery warm tones, if Nude Dip was a little too neutral, you might really like this!

Last Dance #3 looks great. Starry Night #4 looks exactly like the powder eyeshadow that came with the Night Sky cream color duo. Loving any dark Violet swatches. There aren’t any quads that are cohesive for my tastes. I stick with cream colors. The texture, color, wear can’t be duplicated. Some may feel that about the powder quads. Fun swatches. Can’t believe the runaround with this launch. No I can. Drama and TF go hand in hand. ?

I think I want Tom Ford quads for my birthday- Honeymoon and Last Dance are calling me, even though I think I can duplicate Honeymoon. Then from here out, I want to splurge every so often on new quads

I have Honeymoon and Last Dance. I honestly have to say Honeymoon seriously took my breath away when I opened it. I heard these were going permanent too. I’m hoping that is true because I want Lilac Dreams and Disco Dust too! I didn’t plan on Starry Night. But, I think this may have started an addiction!

TraceyMc Avatar

Hi Christina , do you think Honeymoon is very similar to the TF Burnished Amber quad or even the colours form the Face & Eye Pink Glow Summer palette form last year ? Would love to hear your thoughts o this 🙂

Grlnxdor Avatar

I think it’s about time I purchase something from Tom Ford. I’m loving both Honeymoon and Disco Dust. Fingers crossed that they are permanent.

Claire L Avatar

Wow, they look to be mostly around the A mark! Beautiful swatches, hope they perform well on the eye as well. I’d go for Last Dance as I love the colour combo, even though Honeymoon and Disco Dust look to perform better and are probably more wearable.

Katie Avatar

I love to take ideas from Tom Ford’s eyeshadow quads and create a similar combination with eyeshadows I already own. Sometimes I never think to pair certain colors, but also don’t have to pitch out $80 to get the same look.

Wednesday Avatar

I do not tend to use my TF eyeshadow quads much.. not even Nude Dip (the shimmer.. not great on these smallish hooded eyes). As much as some of these shadows are really truly gorgeous, for once I do not see myself succumbing to the want. The price is staggering given the Cdn versus US conversion right now and I think I would rather pass and hope the cream shadows knock it out of the park.

Fran Avatar

I could really like Starry Night and Lilac Dream if they perform well. I always love blues, and the lilacs are not overly pink/red. Last Dance is calling my name, too, even though I might have some difficulty with #3 clashing with the olive green in my slightly hazel-ish eyes.

Cory Avatar

I look at the quads and my 1st thought is “omg I love this! It’s so pretty!”….but the 2nd thought (not far behind) is “I know I have these colors in singles…”, or “Oooh I can get that color in a single…”—talking about dupes of course 🙂
Plus $20 a shade is just so high…
I love all you do for us Christine! Your swatches, reviews, & dupes are a key feature in my life! Ty! :-*

Lily S. Avatar

I ordered the Honeymoon palette from Neiman’s when you pictured it about 5 days ago from the online photo, they say it’s on backorder…. send me my palette now!

Tracey E. Avatar

Thanks for the swatches, Christine. Look forward to your reviews, especially a dupe for that beautiful blue in the Last Dance palette. I really like Disco Dust and lHoneymoon.

Bonnie Avatar

I’ll wait for the reviews before I plunk down $80, but doubt the palettes I’m interested in will make the grade. I like Lilac Dream (#3 & #4) and Starry Night (#1 & #3). I agree Honeymoon is stunning and swatched amazingly, but can’t wear those colors. 🙁

Susan Dowman Nevling Avatar

Really like the colors in Honeymoon but not sure if they would work on me because of the depth of all the colors. Liked a couple others too. Expensive!

clidre Avatar

I’ll be honest: if Honeymoon wasn’t by Tom Ford I would have said it’s a boring palette with dupable shades… I mean… 2 golds, 1 berry, 1 brown…

LipstickHoarder Avatar

Temptalia, are there any dupes for TF Honeymoon palette? Oowee, it’s making me tryna decide if I should pay these bills or get the palette LOL. Honeymoon is gorgeous! Just wow.

Dani Avatar

Does Disco Dust looke like a less-pigmented version of Honeymoon? By the way TF should really make more eyeshadows with the Honeymoon/Nude Dip kind of formula. They are truly one of a kind. On the other hand, Starry Night and Lilar Dream look dissapointing. Last Dance is very interesting though!

Bengisu Avatar

Disco Dust is EVERYTHING for me! I love cool nudes and peaches, a good brown and a good shimmer to pop on. It’s the quad that will make me bid farewell to every other classic look palette or quad I ever own/need! Love it!

Astrild Avatar

i like Honeymoon a lot. So pretty. And I love the shades in the second row of both Lilac Dream and Starry night, but sadly, I don’t like the first rows.

Abir Avatar

Christine, will you be reviewing the TF cream shadows, the new ones? I really hope so. 🙂
Also, will you be reviewing the Lancôme Parisian Pastels which is a highlighter made out of cubes? So pretty!

Rebecca Avatar

An associate at Tom Ford told me Honeymoon is permanent, but it just sold out like it was solid gold. I don’t follow TF releases close enough I guess, but I do want it whenever it goes back in stock at Nordstrom. Btw, all purchases at TF online are permanent sales. I didn’t know they don’t take returns. Thank God I’ve always bought it from department stores!
