Time Travel is beautiful! Some of these swatches are looking mediocre, so I will be interested in reading the review. I bet these would be really improved from the swatch with a primer, so they may still be worth it, especially at this price point!
Time Travel is really pretty, slate teal is what I’d call it.
Quite a few of these seem very powdery and unpigmented, thats disappointing…
Ohh some of these don’t look so good! but I DO plan on getting Cherry Cola!
I’ve always wondered as someone who lives in a country makeupgeek is a little more expensive to ship to, I’ve always heard rave reviews about her shadows but if you were to put price range aside how would these compare to the MUFE eyeshadows? I don’t mind paying more for quality and just wondering if these were worth trying.
The formulas are very different – MUFE’s formula in general (except the mattes) is much denser than the average powder eyeshadow on the market, but they are closer to Makeup Geek’s Foiled Eyeshadows with respect to texture (but MUFE is firmer, less soft in the pan). As always, it really depends on the shade – some are really great, some are misses!
Hi Christine,
thanks so much for the response! I always thought of MUFE as the epitome of eyeshadows I compare the rest too so it’s nice to hear that Makeupgeek can be just as good. I’ll definitely have to check them out!
It depends on the shade. MUFE shadows are more consistent in quality. Makeup Geek does have some shades that are just as good and thus are fantastic shadows, you just have to know which ones. Anything Christine gave an A or A+.
Why the purples again ???? 🙁 And that blue reminds me of the sad blue (Dear Daniel) from the Hello Kitty kit. Enchanted Forest looks nice but others look dry, patchy, chunky
Yup, that’s exactly my reaction to these purples as well, Katherine! That blue looks SAD…yes, Dear Daniel, indeed. ?
I know, us lovers of purples always seem to get our hearts broken when it comes to the mattes.
Oh no! Not looking great!
Wow most of the cooler toned shades looks pretty bad, pity! Luckily my faves look better, which are Enchanted Forest and Morocco!
Some look great (I’m eyeing Cherry Cola, Time Travel, and Enchanted Forest) but others not so much…
Um, yikes, what happened here with like half of these, I wonder? Especially with the PURPLES! Arrgghh!!!
I do, however, really LOVE Cherry Cola!
Vintage, Dragonfly, Americano, Fuji, Morocco, Mirage and Time Travel all look solid, thank goodness!
I expected some of these to perform better since they were reformulated. Some look really good though. I’m in no rush to get these, so I’ll wait for reviews.
Disappointed in these. They look powdery and sheer. Not impressed. I’m not paying $10 a pan for crappy dollar store eyeshadow.
Wow so many of those swatches look terrible! No matter how inexpensive they are, that patchiness isn’t worth it!
I guess Matt formula isn’t their thing .. I love the duo-chrome collection. They nailed it there.
I’m not a fan of MUG mattes at all, but Morocco and Time Travel are really pretty. Most of these look pretty patchy and underpigmented.
Will be skipping these! Will save my money for the duo chrome ones instead.
Lots of these look really patchy and dry. Lots of brands have trouble delivering really good mattes.
9 of those shadows are unpigmented and/or dry looking.
I’m sad if Boo Berry really looks that weak. :/ It’s a pretty blue shade, but I’ll have to wait to see the scores on these and some more people using them. I know a lot of people receive MUG as PR, so I try to take their reviews with a grain of salt, but then I’ll try to pay careful attention to how it looks like the product applies when they’re using them in videos.
Oh no! Half of these don’t look good. But I will still try the ones I was eyeing before. I’d rather build up color than have too much and go overboard (personal preference) as long as they aren’t patchy or have trouble blending then I think i’m good.
They look so dry.
i got 6 from the line when they launched and yeah they swatch horribly but with a primer underneath it performs quite nice on the eye , and gives you control over how much u can use as they build up to the intensity you want. I guess it’s a mater of preference, because i don’t like bam in your face from first application matte shadows as they can get too intense too fast, i like the fact they build up and I have a bit more control with these. Just my impression 🙂 i bought : cherry cola, confection, petal pusher, bedrock, sorbet and fairytale so far plan to get a few more 🙂
Very surprised by the poor pigmentation 🙁 So unusual for Makeup Geek!
Some of these look really good, some a bit less so. It will be interesting to read the reviews.
Yes!! I’ve been waiting for this! Can’t wait to read the full review. Glad I was able to control myself and not buy these or the duochromes until your reviews were out. The hype around makeup launches is so hard to resist falling into.
Some of those look terrible!
