I legit lost my breath looking at some of these swatches.
I like MUG products, but these aren’t moving me. I’ve been spoiled with the color changing shades from Fyrinnae. It appears you have to use it wet to get good coverage, which I never have time to do in the morning.
You can really see the duochrome in these! Also, good for Makeup Geek, increasing the size proportional to the increase in price. I don’t think anyone will mind paying $6 more for twice as much product. A refreshing sight to see!
Ooooweeee beautiful. Really love Chameleon and Hologram.
Hmmm…I wonder if I’d like their loose pigments better than their pressed shadows. I have such a weekness for duochromes. These look really beautiful.
Very ethereal!
Holy duochrome, Batman!!! Ok, so no, it’s not *really* holy….but wow, these blew my socks off. I would LOVE to incorporate Sugar Rush, Prism or Mood Ring over a black base. My favorite by far, though, is Kaleidoscope! I think Marlena did a fantastic job here with these!
OMG using them over a black base = great idea! Now i HAVE to buy them and try it…. 🙂
Wildfire, Hologram, Kaleidoscope and Chameleon are calling my name! Just WOW
OMGEEEEE. SQUEAL. Lurrrvvve!!!!
OMG!!! These look even more beautiful than the duo chrome shadows!! I’ve never used pigments before, but these are too gorgeous to pass up. The only loose shadow I’ve ever used is L’Oreal Infallible, and the stuff doesn’t seem to stick on my oily lids even with primer, might need glitter glue. Hologram and Wildfire are calling my name
Have ypu tried Kat von D’s eyeshadow primer? It’s too drying for me to use regularly, but is my go-to when I go to an amusement park, or any other outdoor event. It comes in a squeeze tube now, so you may be able to pick up a sample at Sephora.
Drying sounds good to my oily lids! LOL Thanks for the tip. I will check that one out.
Very pretty! I can see this holiday season I will really have to pick and chose!
I am floored. I dislike the mess of pigments but UGH.
These colors looks like unicorn tears!
Perfect description! Lol
Okay, definitely need Hologram and Prism. Woah.
Your swatches make these pigments appear much more sheer than the release video Marlena put out. Would you say this is due to the application method? I have never used MUG pigments.. are they the type to need to be “patted” or use a sticky primer base?
Also, Wildfire and Hologram look essentially the same to me, what are your thoughts? Thanks!
Hologram! Whaaah! It really reminds me of Fyrinnae’s Rapunzel Wears Extensions. Even though they are very pretty, I can’t shake the feeling that you can get similar shades from indie companies for less money.
Oh wow! I am a total klutz with loose pigments! But, I may need to suck it up for some of these! Are these and the pressed part of her permanent collection now?
I hear that! Although in my case, I am far more worried that my super-sized Maine Coon Cat, Scunci, will jump up on the sink area and knock it flying! He loves to curl up and cat-nap in my BATHROOM SINK!!! LoL! He’s a big, crazy galouff of a cat!
Haha..I totally cracked up imagining that Nancy!
I have his pic up on Temptalia’s Pets, he IS in my sink in the pic! And he doesn’t like to budge frim it once he’s in, lol!
Oh that’s good stuff! One of my cats( I have just 2) was taking my KVD liquid lipsticks out of a Sephora bag. I had about 5 sitting loose on the floor by my vanity because I didn’t have a spot for them and I realized one was missing and then counted,no it was 3! Under my bed!
Oh my, that’s seriously funny!!! My two female cats, Pookie ( the black kitty) and Clarissa (the white one) have taken my eyeliner sharpener, tweezers and a few other bizarre tidbits and put them under mine, too! Why under our respective beds, I have no clue!
LOL..gotta check out the photo!
He’s going to one sparkly cat LOL!
Sparkle Kitty to the rescue!!! He is a character!
I can’t wait to see these on an eye! *patiently waiting* 🙂
Wow, Hologram is gorgeous, and it’s not your typical teal-in-a-brown-base duochrome! Wildfire looks pretty good too.
Ahh, looks lovely but they remind me of indie shades that have been done before!
Now these seem like Duochromes! Wow!!
WOW….just WOW! Some of these look absolutely enchanted!
I’m not much of a loose shadow fan, but oy.. thinking Prism and Mood Ring would make really pretty layering shadows over mid or darker base.
GIVE ME EVERYTHING! Well, I can skip Insomnia since I have dupes. BUT EVERYTHING ELSE! *wipes drool*
Oh my, ‘Wildfire’ looks exactly like Mac pigment in ‘Rose’. (:
I’m so excited Marlena heard everyone’s request for duochrome pigments! I’m really loving some of these colors. 🙂
The only ones of these that really call out to me are Hologram and Wildfire, but I probably don’t need both, so I have Hologram in the wishlist until I can grab it. 😛
Some of the colours look really lovely – but I am noticing how crumbly the eye shadows are and I think there is the possibility of fall out…..Using them wet is not something I would do.
Can I just, like, slather Wildfire all over my face? I don’t think I’ve ever seen anything so pretty!
Can there be a way in swatch gallery to sort swatches by your rating. I just wanna see swatches f your hughest rated stuff. Thank you.
There is – please click “SORTED BY” and select whatever option appeals to you!
Very nice!
These are so gorgeous! I was blown away by the shadows and I’ve even more blown away by the loose pigment. I need nearly all of these in my life.
Oh, I want all of these. I’m a total sucker for duochromes.
I am convinced that these were made with magic. They’re ridiculously pretty.
I don’t understand why we need more product most of use makeup junkies have way to much as it is.
I’m pretty sure it was to get the new type of packaging style, and packaging is often one of the higher costs of a product per unit!
ooooooooh I might have to go back and get Chameleon, Hologram and Wildfire in the loose pigments! I never buy loose pigments but those colors are to die for!!!
Very pretty! However, I rarely use pigments due to the messiness and would rather pay less for less product since it’s not likely that I’d ever finish a whole container. LOL
I think fyrinnae did it better
Wow, totally underwhelmed with these AND the ‘duochrome’ eyeshadows, although at least there are a couple shades of the shadows that have some redeeming qualities…..these however…..really poorly done on MUG’s part, which really stumps me. Marlena has done a really good job with her other products….so what happened here??
Definitely passing on all of these. Wouldn’t even buy them on a 50% off sale, to be quite honest.
Just curious, why do you think these are poorly done??
Several reasons…..
Because I would’ve expected shades with far more pigmentation from this brand, rather than the sheerness that the bulk of these seem to have. Duochrome doesn’t have to be so sheer. It would’ve been nice to see several more of these shades with significantly more pigmentation/color depth to them. I personally don’t want to have to dick around with applying these over a black base or whatever base to see what shade I’m going to get. I normally don’t have time to start over if I don’t like the way a shade looks. And there are very few days I get to just play around with the boatload of products I already have, applying layer after layer of stuff on my eyes to just see how they’re going to appear. I usually reach for products that I know what the results will be in the end, more or less. Don’t want to waste time, effort & product unnecessarily guessing & reapplying.
Several of them also seem to be fairly similar to each other, unfortunately. Why buy (or even release) so many shades that are so similar? Sure, they may look very different over various shades of base – black, white or whatever – but see above ^^ 🙂 One in particular looks pretty much identical to MAC Blue Brown pigment, or whatever the name is (had it ages ago & sold it bc I didn’t like it), as well as similar to one of Marlena’s other pressed shadows which I believe came out in the last collection (the foiled collection? or one of her other pigments?) – could be wrong but I’m pretty sure about that. This color has been done to death as far as I’m concerned *bleh* and it’s not a great one at that.
I would’ve liked to see a unique, limited edition or permanent fall shade collection as well, instead of this mishmash. Aromaleigh is doing a killer job of that this year, gotta say. I’m just not feeling these MUG pigments at all.
I’ve also got a ridiculous amount of pigments & eyeshadows – loose/pressed/creams/gels/palettes/singles & otherwise (including many from MUG) – so I couldn’t see myself shelling out for these when I feel like I’d be very underwhelmed by them. Especially when just seeing swatches of them underwhelms me. Swatches of great products normally get me excited to start buying. These leave me feeling flat.
I think marketing these as duochrome ‘pigments’ was also a mistake bc they’re not going to be so-called ‘stand alone’ products. Meaning, the majority will require a lot more than just eye primer to pan out. They’re more like ‘adjusters’ or whatever you want to call them. Something that gets applied over top of an already done eye look to slightly pump it up. Not my thing. Most will require other products to make them workable/effective, as I mentioned above – unless I suppose someone would get into painting shimmery, farting unicorns & princesses on their face, which I suppose could be enjoyable in the right circumstances. Can’t say I’d ever find myself doing that, however….
But hey, if other people are into them & want to spend their cash, be my guest….I’ll be spending my money elsewhere 🙂
Valid points and I see where you’re coming from. Thanks for the lengthy response.
Huh, I am pretty underwhelmed by these. I was expecting pigments with duochrome not just duochrome finishes.
