Sneak Peek: LORAC Pro Palette 3 Photos & Swatches

LORAC Pro Palette 3
LORAC Pro Palette 3

LORAC Pro Palette 3 ($44.00 for 0.32 oz.) is a new installment in the Pro Palette range. It had an early, one-day release for Platinum members (at Ulta), so I bought mine then, but it will launch in full on June 12th online and June 26th in-stores (at least for Ulta). I should have it reviewed before the 12th 🙂

Yay! I can’t wait to get your take on this palette because I want it (pending in a review). My Lorac Skinny Nude palette is my everyday go to palette. The only thing about this palette that t do not like is the black shadow. I rarely ever use black and its in almost every palette I own. ??

Well, Medallion looks like a dud. I was eyeing this and the Anastaisa Modern Renaissance palette, because both of them have a lot of matte shades, which my collection needs. But my oily lids tend to eat up Lorac matte shadows, so think I will go with the Anastasia one, which also has more vibrant and unique colors.

This palette is very pretty, but the colors look a little too muted for my taste. I will have to see this one in person, but it’s looking like this is nit a must have for me. I don’t own any Lorac palettes yet. I’ve had my eye on the two Unzipped palettes for awhile, and will probably get those before this one if I do like it.

Not sure if I’ll spring for this or the first Pro (I have and love Pro 2). As others said, Medallion looks dreadful and also, some of these might be too warm for me, personally but I love Truffle as it’s a fairly soft black that looks easier to wear than some very intense blacks.

I see you have the same problem with Medallion I had. Be careful when applying it to the eye, its like a fallout storm. I’m considering returning the palette just on that alone 🙁

I bought this palette that same day from Ulta and I am considering returning it. The quality is nothing like my other Lorac palette, the mattes are okay, but the shimmers are chunky and not really that pigmented. Sadly, I don’t recommend it to anyone.

I do like how the LORAC Pro Palettes contain half if the shadows in mattes, but many of the shades are just too warm for me, and not even a single one is calling my name, so pass.

I think I would get way more use out of this than my mostly unused original pro palette. I have so many palettes though I might sit on it and wait. It is permanent right?

This would be a nice color selection for us fair neutral-to-warm gals, but it looks as though it will need primer. Medallion is just a chunky mess. Why do companies put shades like that in palettes? They have to know the glitter isn’t bound with the base at all.

I got this when Ulta had it posted for Platinum members. This is my dream palette! My unicorn! I love every shade… except for Medallion. Who thought that would be a good idea? Was this just a bad batch?

Christine Avatar

I have yet to see anyone say that Medallion is anything less than a chunky, glittery mess, so it seems like that’s on all… though of course, the only ones sold that I’m aware of are from Ulta (as the Platinum perk), so it might be the same batch.

I ordered this on the Ulta Platinum special order day and received day before yesterday. So far I am pretty happy with it. Yes, Medallion is a dud, no pigment and all glitter. Couldn’t salvage it no way, no how. I really like the shade Amethyst which pulls a little burgundy on me. Normally I don’t buy things until I read Christine’s reviews or am able to swatch myself in store but I have other Lorac palettes and usually have good luck with them so thought I would take a chance. Will be interested to see what Christine thinks.

Medallion looking ROUGH! Otherwise I expect I’d love the feel and blendability of the Lorac Pro shadows as usual. Not really excited about this one, which is fine because I have the original, Pro 2, Mega Pro and Mega Pro 2 haha.

Honestly: I find the whole palette disappointing: the color combination and the pigmentation. I thought Lorac was state of the art makeup, but no.

Colleen Avatar

I was able to get this early from ulta. I’m pale and the colors really work for me . The shadows are very soft and smooth . Very powdery. Lots of fallout.

Alecto Avatar

Well, they all look nice, except Medallion, which … [shudder].

And what’s with the name Cool Taupe? That’s not even remotely “cool.”

Overall, looks like a nice set of colors. Don’t need any of them, though.

Your photos are always so much more accurate than Ulta’s, which are notoriously inaccurate. There is an underlying sameness to all these shades, and I don’t have the art/color vocabulary to describe it. The same concept as applies to soft serve. Your eye picks out that characteristic, that dimension, (is it depth/intensity in this case? It must be something common to the base pigment, rather than the color pigments.) It says to me that blending will do nice haloed looks for skilled folks, like you, but look kind of blah and one dimensional for less skilled folks. I suspect this is overanalysis, but I see this as letting people down, because their looks be neither differentiated nor outstanding. ‘Lost the lovin feelin’ I had initially for this.

Jenna Avatar

I got mine last week and I have to say Medallion is such a crappy quality shadow.. it’s so weird in texture and not buttery like the normal pro palette colors.. kinda a let down.

Ross Avatar

Well, if I would ever find a dupe of it I will buy it. I own the Lorac pro 1 and 2. This one doesn’t seem so special to me. I love matte shades but these ones are too light for my taste… I pass.
