Many of these look like they will be a real pain to work with, having tons of fall out. I don’ t think there is anything unique here.
I think it was Bronze and Cinder that I swatched in the store the other day and you can see, even from Christine’s hand/arm swatch, that Bronze has “glitter problems” – that fallout was evident on my hand too. Quartz also looks dreadful (but I didn’t swatch that one). How I wish Jasper and Cinder were available as singles, along with Jasper, Copper and maybe even Rust. Some real beauties in this palette but some that sure seem to have a lot of fallout.
A much better alternative would have been a neutral version of the Metal Matte Palette and called it the shade and glimmer palette, with a MIX of the shades from both palettes. I feel like this palette would have much more versatile and a better value overall.
I completely agree.
What a great idea Emily – so much better and no glitter to ruin the palette.
thats why this is the shade and light glimmer, theres already an all matte palette with all these tones. I’m getting this because itll perfectly complement my matte shade and light, so if I ever dont want to fuss but have a defined and metallic eye…boom a shade or two from the glimmer and then the matte one to supplement some depth. And super easy to decide if I’d want a neutral, cool, or warm eye look because of how well thought out both palettes are with layouts and covering all the bases.
I agree with previous comments that this isn’t a super easy palette to work with, but I tried a look with it yesterday and the result was amazing. No, it’s not crazy unique, but it is a nice complementary palette to the original.
Huh… Gotta say, pretty surprised how all over the place these swatches look. I love me some matte shadows, so I knew I wasn’t going to pick this up, but this greatly reduces my FOMO. The metallics in the Metals & Matte palette are way better than this, methinks
AHAHAHAHAHAHA nope, just nope to this. The shades are pretty, but those shadows look like fallout central! Looking forward to your review, Christine – just for the dupes 😉
Thank you! I’ve been dying to see swatches on this that I can actually trust. Everything I’ve seen on Instagram has been a press photo where the colors look impossibly pigmented.
Um, whoa. And not in a *good* way. While some look truly beautiful and great quality, many seem to only look wearable if applied wet (and likely need glitter glue primer, too). I’ve got a ton of neutral eyeshadows, so I will attempt to match up what I have with these once your review is up, because your dupe list is a huge $’s saver and spares one from needlessly purchasing a PITA of a product.
No thanks…uninspired and it doesn’t look like they’re great shadows anyway. Plus with the whole deal of her seeking out a Holocaust survivor + animal rights activist in order to promote veganism more, as well as taking part of the talk that included pictures of mass graves to post on her instagram… nope. KVD is on my no-buy list now.
I don’t care for glitter, so this is not for me. Beyond that though, I don’t really understand the color selection in this palette. Copper and Cinder look close enough that they’d probably look identical once blended on the lid. Same for Jasper and Bronze. One is just a tad bit darker, but these two “couples” are way too similar to be together in one palette imo.
Wow, looks like a real mixed bag here. I see some that will be Fall Out City, now I can see why she came out with that special brush to use with the glittery shadows, curious if that brush works!
Wow! Very disappointing!
So I saw JenLuvsReviews do a live swatch video on YouTube and was kinda disappointed with the pigmentation. Then TaraBabyz did a review and loved it…so I’m interested to see your review. Some of the colors in your swatches look incredibly pigmented and beautiful but others don’t. I’m not rushing out to get this, and pretty sure I won’t, but who knows. I seriously doubt the brush is that special or works any better than ones I already have.
Love the shades, but that glitter is putting me off – hmmm – there looks to be a lot of fall out. What a bummer!
I’m so disappointed in how some of these look. I’m going to Sephora next week and I’ll swatch in the store but right now it’s a no. ?
the swatches look painfully paler than the pan colors-what a mess for a palette. I’ll stick to her original shade & light palette. I hate glitter even on younger eyes. Big no go for me.
Dusk is pretty, but otherwise nothing new!
Ouch, this is painful to see. I’m not well versed in her controversial past, I somehow absorbed in the pop culture ether that she is sober now and has changed but I don’t even remember where or how I heard that so take it with a grain of salt. With KVD as a brand the shadows are usually beautiful and the quality is unquestionably there. I wonder what happened this time?! I was never going to buy this ( although bc I love the matte version I can SAY NEVER but does that reeeally mean never? ?) but I have been excited to see it, what a head scratcher though.
Shelf live is very shorth 9 months I see… I know you can use longer but 9 months.
