Dose of Colors Desi x Katy Collection
Dose of Colors Desi x Katy Collection

Dose of Colors Desi x Katy Collection released last week and promptly sold out before the day was over, but it’ll be restocked sometime in September, and I’m sure I’ll have no trouble getting full reviews out before then 🙂 For now, though, please enjoy these swatches:

I was soooo excited when they announced this collab, I love DOC and Desi and Katy so it’s a match made in heaven!
I think Desi and Katy really did create some beautiful products, but since they’re both super tan the highlighters and nude lipsticks are a no-go for pale people like myself. The shadows, gloss, and liquid lippies seem to be fairly universal, but I’m not really a bold lip or eye girl so I won’t be buying (also I’m poor lol)

I’m still super proud of my girls, and seeing their collection being such a success makes me happy 🙂

I assumed the lipsticks were going to look terrible on fair and light skin tones but I’ve seen them swatched on a couple people with similar skin tones to mine and some of the people I do makeup for and I think both shades actually look beautiful on fair complexions. I think they’re just very unique and not what people are used to and I have seen people say they just think the colors themselves are ugly, but I’m definitely not of the opinion that they don’t work on lighter skin tones myself. I think it’s more about whether or not you like the color and not so much whether they “work”.

Heather Avatar

That’s fair, any lipstick shade can look beautiful and unique in its own way, although I guess I was more referring to how it’s supposed to be a nude but on fair skin tones it looks like a statement colour.
I have a very similar skintone to jkissa makeup, and when she swatched them in her video they looked sort of…mustardy? That’s the best way I can describe it.
To be fair a mustard lipstick is certainly unique and a statement colour, but I can’t see myself and many others wearing that on a daily basis.

Brian Avatar

Definitely. I think statement color is a good way to describe these on fair skin. And the shades being mustardy seems to be what people don’t like, I can totally understand that, its not a popular shade in general much less on the lips.

This collaboration left me breathless! There is just something so beautiful about the whole thing, even BEYOND the products. I did manage to click on at 10 a.m. on the dot, ordered Mírame and The Girls promptly, debating a lipstick for maybe a minute, got nervous about it selling out while trying to decide, so I put my order in at exactly 10:08 a.m.!
Now that YOU have the lipsticks, and I’ve seen them on your complexion, I know which one or two I’m getting in September! ?

Thank God you are reviewing this collaboration!..

I hesitated so much I ended up not buying anything.

Fuego looks like something I already own.
Mírame seems to be pink.
Hot Fire looks too orange.
Saváge is not my thing.
No Shade is too pale for my skin tone and I have to work with it.
More Creamer Please looks too yellow.
I don’t wear gloss.
The Girls pallette reminds me of Color Pop shadows, which I own most of them!

You’re reviews will let me move on with my life!

PS: Desi and Katy are the bomb dot com. Love them.

I ordered the 2 highlighters and The Girls eyeshadow palette.I actually lucked into the eyeshadow because I was in my car when the collection launched and the mobile site link to the eyeshadow palette was messed up so I couldn’t order it.I went on the Namies website but didn’t want to pay high shipping so mid day I went back to the Dose Of Colors website and the palette was available and I got it!I struggled with wanting to order the whole collection after I had ordered just the 2 highlighters at 10am for fear they were going to sellout immediately.I held out and didn’t order any of the lip stuff but in September I may purchase them?

I got The Girls palette and Over the Top gloss today in the mail and am wearing both! I have Harpoon on and it’s beautiful, a metallic olive green with gold sparkle. I didn’t have any fallout from applying wet (this is one of the shades they instruct to use wet and with your finger). I’ve been wearing the shadow for almost 6 hours now and I do have a little glitter fallout on my upper cheeks and under my eyes, but not a crazy amount, just a few flecks here and there.

The gloss is gorgeous, I am wearing it on its own. If you are close up, you can see the fine glitter particles on the lips, but otherwise it looks like a clear shiny gloss. It’s not sticky at all, even when you smack your lips together, but my hair still got caught in it with the wind blowing. It feels very comfortable on the lips, you can’t feel the glitter in it at all.

I am so happy for Katy and Desi, I love them so much!

Last week I ordered Hot Fire, Mirame and More Creamer Please. I like sparky eye shadows but I don’t always want to have to apply with my fingers.I still may pick up the eye shadow palette and that purple lip stick later. This is my first Dose of Colors purchase.

I’m surprised how beige both lipsticks appear to pull on you, most of the swatches I’ve seen have been a lot more orangey or even mustardy in tone. I’m anxious to hear your thoughts on them.

Natch, had no idea who Desi and Katy were. They are ADORABLE, though only seen stills. Like both bold lips, though they’re probably duped. Not a single Dose yet in the neverending stash. Prob better not to start a new brand.

Harpoon looks gorgeous and also like a chunky, difficult nightmare! Looking at it in the pan reminds me so much of some other eyeshadow that had that same loose, bumpy, chunky look but, for the life of me, I can’t remember which one. Can someone explain to me who Desi and Katy are???

Lindsay Avatar

Harpoon goes on pretty smooth. you should use a wet finger for application.
Desi and Katy (Lusterlux) are two youtubers. They also used to be ipsy content creators as well.
Check out their channels, they are very pleasant to watch and have great tutorials.

anyone notice the resemblance in MAC products…. More cremer please looks like Siss from Mac, and the eyeshadow palette resembles the Mac Veluxe Pearlfusion Shadow – Brownlux palette…..
very similar… shame Siss was discontinued…. but thank god these girls brought this colour to life again… sings to my skin tone… cant wait for the restock
