Sneak Peek: Cover FX & NARS Spring 2017 Highlighting Palettes Photos & Swatches
For spring, two variations of Cover FX The Perfect Light Highlighting Palettes ($42.00 for 0.38 oz.) were released: one for lighter skin tones and one for darker skin tones. Each palette contains two cream highlighters and two powder highlighters.

NARS Banc de Sable Highlighter Palette ($49.00 for 0.33 oz.) includes three powder highlighters (they aren’t indicated as such, but they feel like the Dual-Intensity formula to me).

That Nars palette isn’t exactly earth-shattering, but it is still pretty!
Also, I don’t really “get” the Cover FX concept with duplicate shades in cream and powder. Are people going to layer them? I always kind of thought people were in one camp or the other in cream vs powder, but maybe enough really want shades in both formulas…?
I love the Cover FX concept! Yes, you can layer and build up the glow with powder over cream. Also great for those of us that like powder on eyes, cupids bow and brows, but prefer cream for cheek and collar bones. #GlowYourWay
Thank you so much for putting up swatches of all 3, Christine! The only shade I’m loving out of any offered in any of these is that very last shade by Nars: Embruns. The Nars one does seem to be the most appealing one for me. Just not sure I’ll actually get it.
You called it right. Swatched it, and suspect the first two you would find too light. I liked them and am not a highlighter queen, having no warm based ones. I’ll probably cave. Embruns is more of a highlighter blush on me: it was darker than the blush I had on! Sale means dirty. Odd name choice, bec it is not in the least dirty. Maybe in the Nars naming trend family. Think you’ll like the darker purple lip pencils, though.
KJH, yep, that’s precisely how I would be using Embruns, too! It just has a perfect summer sunkissed cheek look to it. Rivage also looks usable for cupids bow, down center of nose and very lightly on top of my cheekbones. Sale looks too blah for me. Like I’ve seen it a thousand times before.
Maybe they were going for “salé” in a salty way, it would fit right on the sea/beach theme. But we cannot know with NARS.
Some pretty colors here! Eyeing NARS Embrums, hoping you can find me a dupe, as I don’t need the whole set
Love the Nars palette…but I feel like it isn’t very ‘fair skin’ friendly. I could pull of the first shade, but not the other two. Oh well, money saved.
Some of the shades in each of the Cover FX ones look pretty similar to each other, but it is good news that the brand differentiates from a lighter to darker palettes for varied skin tones.
The Nars palette is good – but I think we have seen something like this before.
Those medium-deep highlighters are quite pretty! I like that they offer both cream and powder formulas, as well.
The Nars one looks nice. Nothing really unique, but all nice and wearable for my skintone. I’ll wait to hear about quality before thinking harder about it.
Just as I thought! I like the deeper Cover FX highlight palette so much!!!!
Two pretty palettes! I like the Cover Fx deep the most, the idea of playing up intensity with a cream and matching powder highlight. On the the other hand I can dupe the colors. But nice!
The Nars is really pretty!
