Becca Apres Ski Glow Collection Eye Lights Palette ($45.00 for 0.35 oz.) is limited edition holiday palette that contains seven eyeshadows based on the brand’s famous Shimmering Skin Perfector Pressed Powders (their powder highlighters).

First Impressions

The texture of the eyeshadows felt drier and thinner with loose shimmer, and frankly, they lacked the creaminess of the powder highlighters they sought to emulate. From the brand’s description, it sounded like the formula was modified to be an eyeshadow, but that drier texture just made it difficult to apply the colors evenly or to maintain opaque coverage. They were more prone to sheering out and fading more quickly as a result, though they improved by using a dampened brush. I did find the eyeshadows to be blendable overall. The shades were fairly similar to their powder highlighter counterparts.

Underwhelming. I feel as if most of you readers will have better dupes for all these shades. Becca has a core competency in cheek products and some fine primers. I feel their competency away from their core is not as successful.

The colors aren’t too exciting, but love the glowy finish, but formula sounds problematic. I’m always wary of highlighters that were tweaked and reformulated into shadows – I think that’s what Hourglass did with the Modernist shadows and those were disasters.

Shame on me for not being more patient! Just got mine in the mail, despite my distaste for round palettes haha! If it performs like this, it’s totally going back.

I also ordered the Laura Mercier L’Amour Exotique palette and I’m kind of disappointed- there was no shade listing so I didn’t realize that 2 of the shades are the same as last year’s edition, and the photo online makes the colors look more saturated than they are IRL.

So in summary… Not really thrilled with my 2017 holiday picks so far! 🙁

When I saw this I was like….why? Maybe if you only owned one highlighter from them it would be tempting, especially if the formula stayed consistent with the cheek products. But why wouldn’t I just use their current highlighters AS eyeshadows? *insert shrugging emoji here*

A million shade just like these. Ugh. Maybe if I were 14 and had just started collecting? But, even then I would have been at the drugstore finding a cheaper dupe.

This is an excellent example of why I am no longer brand loyal. So disappointing! Considering they have such a huge following for their highlighters you would think that the eyeshadows would be better quality. Right here is why I love this site Christine, for your honest and thourough reviews. I despise dry shadows, such a pain to work with. Well again, I think that there are alot of us on here that probably have dupes to these eyeshadows lurking in our stashes. I know i’m not alone haha.

I adore their Ombré Rouge palette (the nudes didn’t spark my interest). They should really release a new version of that instead of two underwhelming (looking at you JH) palettes in a row…

I think I will just stick to using the Becca highlighters that I have as eyeshadows instead of purchasing this palette! I use Champagne Pop quite a bit as an eye shadow and I love it. Thanks for the swatches/first impression, Christine!

Bleh, this doesn’t look as great as I thought it would on skin. If it shows like that on your skin meaning the little color I see, It’ll look like dirt on me lol

i actually thought this was a mini highlighter palette and i would’ve used it with those intentions..hoooowever, the swatches make me reconsider putting these in the basket. thanx for the review!!
