Anastasia Subculture Eyeshadow Palette ($42.00 for 0.28 oz.) is a new, permanent palette (per Norvina via Twitter!) that will be launching at retailers on August 1st. It features 14 eyeshadows with three shimmers and 11 mattes. I expect to have a review up no later than Monday, so stay tuned!

My understanding is that Cube and Electric are topper style of shades or just highlights? And that’s why they don’t have a similar pigmentation as others. I am sure all colours will wear gorgeously. So wanna get this but of course not without a Temptalia approval 🙂

Mine just came in the mail. The colours kick up a lot of powder but still I had enough on the brush for application. I found the darker blues and greens very tricky to work with because I have small eyes. I had to take my smallest brushes to blend and apply the colours or they were getting very untidy.
I am very happy with the palette though, I find it as versatile as the Modern Renaissance. The colour range is just lovely!

Can we just swap palettes please? Your swatches look good. Mine swatched terribly. Most of the mattes pretty much broke down during swatching into what looks like 2 shades. The rest of the were so badly formulated that they started out ok but wouldn’t blend out. The shimmers/metallic were better except for the lightest which had almost no pigmentation whatsoever. On application, they did better since obviously I was using a brush and not fingers and of course over primer. That said, they were absurdly dusty (to the extent that simply lightly touching a shade with a brush created a pile of dust in the pan) and in general were not blendable on the lids without a ton of work. This is literally the absolute worst palette I’ve purchased in recent memory. Additionally, after comparing it to my Jeffree Star one, I feel it’s nothing more than a poor rip-off of his palette of last year and is considerable more expensive for subpar quality.

Hope yours is a one off. I swatched UD Heat @S, and it was drop dead dreadful. QC is reality, unfortunately. This is a very interesting palette. That overlay that someone published, showing the layout in terms of quads helps with the concept. Every look you see published is radically different, as if they came from different palettes. Sorry yours sucks. Will look later at your IG.

There are some pretty colors in here, and the swatches look decently pigmented, but Anastasia seems to always have the most random, disharmonious palettes in terms of color. Modern Renaissance is the only one I can think of that made any kind of cohesive sense lol

Mariella Avatar

Nah – just not for me. Too many colours I don’t wear/don’t like and the others all seem sort of flat and dull. I generally love Anastasia’s palettes and still regret missing out/passing on Self-Made but this one’s just not calling to me (and that’s saying something since I’m such an eyeshadow addict).

Christina Avatar

Wow it looks beautiful! So inspiring too! Just what we need. 🙂 Something NEW. I have been impressed by the looks I’ve seen on YT. Can’t wait to read your review and see what kinds of different looks can be created. Makes me feel excited for fall, though I think there are so many different color combinations this would work throughout the seasons. I love the pop of green under your eye!

Julia Avatar

Wow, these swatches look lush! Still not at all my colors, but I am really interested to see what kind of influence this has on Fall’s trends. Modern Renaissance may not have been the very first pink/orange/red toned palette, but it certainly seemed to be the one that kicked off that trend in a big way.

If you are the Julia that is on the pet group, with border terriers, congratulations! Best breed ever. LOOOOOVE borders. And I only think highlighters….

Julia Avatar

Nope, not me! My babies are herding breed mixes. They make appearances on my IG @wittewords, and I must say they are pretty darn cute 🙂

And of course I DO love my highlighters LOL

kjh Avatar

I’ll check them out and love them in advance. Herding breeds have such independent intelligence. Even the little guys like corgis and vallhunds. My mum always used to say, no….you can’t have a dog that’s smarter than you. Well, dogs outsmart me and shape my behavior every day.

Not sure if I REALLY want this, or I was just so impressed with MR that I think I need it. I’ve also been impressed with how the brand sent palettes to lesser known Youtubers, helping them get exposure. Plus I love that they didn’t pull that “we sold out in minutes” crap.

Nancy T Avatar

Wow! Thank you for getting these swatches up so quickly, Christine!

These shades are absolutely perfect for all us green or hazel eyes folks! So far, I’ve been on the fence when it comes to this one, as I am quite concerned that I may have dupes for quite a few of the shades. Won’t decide either way until after I read your review on this one.

Re: Hazel Eyes
I had the exact same thought!! My momma and I both have Hazel Eyes and September birthdays, so I believe I know one present we will be getting!
The mustards and teals are amazing!

Katherine T. Avatar

Wow, these swatches look really good! 6 of the colors remind me of the Jeffree Starr Androgyny palette, which I have and is killer quality, will be hard to beat that one. I’m reading mixed reviews online for Subculture, wonder if there’s a QC issue

thirteenthirteen Avatar

I’m hoping ABH releases at least some of the colors as singles like they did with MR. Too many of these shades would not work for me at all to buy the palette but I’m interested in a few of them.

Sk Avatar

I thought the shades were all over the place but now that I see swatches I can see at least 4 different looks I can come up with…so interesting!

Blue Avatar

Not sure whether I’ll be picking this up or not. I do really like All Star, Mercury, and New Wave, but assuming they ever get released as singles the price would be approaching the cost of the whole palette… I’m glad it’s permanent so I have time to think about it! Good on Anastasia for not making it LE to create a frenzy.

Brenda Avatar

At first I thought it would be an easy pass but after seeing these beautiful rich colors swatch so well I’m ready to purchase. The greens and teals will bring out the green in my blue/green eyes. Looking forward to your review and thank you Christine for getting this out to us so quickly. You know we we’re anxiously awaiting your thoughts.

Dominique Avatar

I have hazel eyes so you know I ordered this palette as soon as it went up on the ABH website❣️ Mine won’t get here until the first according to my shipping notification I can’t wait!!

Tanya Avatar

I purchased a similar shade range palette from Pinky Rose cosmetics called the Sunflower palette. With all the inconsistent reviews. I think I’ll stick with it,lol. Plus it was half the cost
