Smashbox Photo Edit Eye Shadow Trios for Spring 2018
I love products like these but I think trend-wise, people are moving away from trios and <4 pan palettes. I wish Smashbox could gain some ground in the current beauty space. They have some interesting stuff, but it never seems innovative enough to make a lasting impression.
Agreed. The price point of the 3 pan is good but I definitely lean toward wanting more color options. I like their holiday set they have, but its so dupable that I passed.
I feel like this is a new iteration of their already existing trios but rather than give you 3 pans od equal size they made one larger than the others. :/
Exactly. It’s just baffling. They came out with some interesting palettes recently (this year or last year) and I totally expected them to get popular! But they didn’t… Why re-release these?
I’m glad not everyone is doing medium to big palettes. I’d have preferred quads rather than trios in this case, but honestly, if I decide to add more eyeshadow to my stash, at this point I can’t justify anything other than singles and smart trios or quads.
Some of these shade combos look mighty interesting! Definately curious to see how these trios work together in a look, even if some don’t quite make an entire look without bringing in another shade to complete it.
Ooh. I REALLY like these. My favorites are Snap Queen, Holy Crop, and It’s Fire.
The names are cute, too. $22 seems a little pricey…but I’m sure they’ll be on sale at Ulta or Sephora sometime.
Some of the colour groupings look a bit odd but interesting (but odd). I see 2 that I’m interested in checking out – Showmance and the one in the top tier with that rich teal/green/peacock shade (can’t figure out which one it is from the sketchy descriptions they’ve provided and it doesn’t seem to be in the lower grouping of “Try these trios in action”. If these show up at Shoppers Drug Mart in the next few months, I will certainly get those 2 since I can get 20% off AND pay the bulk of the remaining cost with Optimum points.
Oh, looking beneath, I think the one I’m eyeing is #Repost. I wonder which shade is the transformer in it….I’m guessing the larger pan on the left???
The only problem with the three pan is when you really don’t like or would use one of the shades. A great idea if it works for you, but none of these shade combinations are grabbing my attention.
I like these , I think they could have made more selection with the colors, Purples, pinks, blues , greens. Maybe you want to try a new colors , but don’t want to spend a lot of money. I think I am seeing lot of neutrals , I hate buying a large /
medium palettes, only for a few I like . Sometimes a palette with too many colors overwhelm me . I do like a few , I think Smashbox eyes shadow blend nice.
Ok, the camera lens case is super cute, but these would’ve served better if they were quads instead of trios. One large light shade is such a waste, costs less money to produce, and also makes them not WOC friendly. Consequently, it makes the price tag seem outrageous. if you need a quick eye look in the morning, or something to throw in your travel bag, this would be perfect. But Smashbox needs to take it a step further with this, considering they have already done similar trios in the past.
I’m intrigued by some of these!! I hope they are good!
I think I’ll get a couple. I’m picky about buying palettes because I am not good about using more than a few shades/combos. I also appreciate that they did nudes for all skin tones.
I’m hoping the quality and pigmentation of these is good. I’m one of the few who prefer a trio or quad to a huge palette that has colors I’ll never use. I also tend to prefer neutrals and natural looks to brighter colors. It’s easier when I travel to just toss one or two lightweight trios into my bag.
Snap queen is pretty!
I love these eyeshadows. I can’t wait spring to get some.
I’m late to the party having seen these at both Sephora & Ulta this past month. They are eye catching. There is currently a sale at Ulta going on with an e mailed coupon ( $10 off any $30 Smashbox purchase). I tried opening one of the testers & had a hard time opening the camera lens. This might be a deterrent for some people.
