Nothing is a real must-have for me in this collection, but I still want some pieces because they’re cute! Definitely eyeing the liners (KITTY PAW PRINTS!) and curler 😉
This is not what I imagined at all. I think my expectations were too high. I was thinking something sleek and sophisticated.
I totally agree. It looks cheap. Even being a crazy cat lady myself, I’ll pass. 🙁
I don’t live in an area that actually sells Shu Uemura (I’d need a hour and a half $100 plane ride for that) but is the packaging always so…cheap? Or is that Karl?
This all kind of reminds me of makeup I got as a kid in the late 90’s (when everything had frosty light blue and glitter), and now I’m an adult I guess cute doesn’t appeal as much. Also white plastic packaging almost always looks lower quality than it actually is. So a pass for me.
I predict that this collection is going to be a HUGE success! I mean, many of us beauty lovers are also crazy cat ladies, so it makes sense, right? 😉 I personally REALLY love the look of the eye pencils. How cute is that little paw print?! 😀 Cute, cute, cute.
I see many awesome-looking things here. Some of them involve the colour blue. Some of them are fluffy. All of them are too cute for their own good, really….
It the fuzzy cat bag the cover for the palette? I kind of dig the Eye-Need-Shu lashes. But if you seen the video teaser for this I want the Shupette the cat herself. lol
Isn’t that cat just adorable? <333
(just a heads-up that images 24 through 30 aren’t loading and return a 404 not found screen)
Otherwise, ooh, lots of pretties! Nothing I ‘need’ but I’d like to get one piece just for the pretty kitty, though whether they’ll be (easily) accessible in the UK is another question!
(also, I can’t resist a good pun, loving the Choupette/Shupette thing!)
Thanks, fixed! 🙂
I just want this for the cat …. too cute!
This collection should have been done a couple months earlie for Halloween. If it were then I’d understand why they’d want to work with that old, white-haired witch.
Too much? 😉 LOL
Too much? Jamais!!! [cue applause] Dusty, I have a huge crush on you (as well as, your youtube channel), and your Chanel/ Karl colour commentary just brightens up my cloudy day.
You don’t even know what I was going to say about Karl, but I didn’t want to dirty up Christine’s lovely blog. All I will say is…he is an awful human being and therefore I have no interest in spending any of my money on his products. Even though I love cats and blue eyeshadow!
meant to say you don’t even WANT to know what I was going to say about him..
ahh I just shouldn’t be commenting on blogs with 3 hours sleep
From wikipedia: “Lagerfeld owns a red point Birman cat named Choupette, which, on 1 June 2013, he indicated he would marry, were it legal.”
I had no idea Karl Lagerfeld was a crazy cat lady
I’M SQUEALING THIS IS ALL SO CUUUUUUTE
This collection is hilarious and kind of adorable, and I sort of want it all simply because its muse is a very pampered cat. 😀
I like cats, but not sure I need them on my makeup, lol. But I do need a new eyelash curler and I’ve heard good things about the Shu Uemura curler. Somehow I thought their curler was more hi-tech looking than the one pictured here.
This is the tackiest packaging I have ever seen. These images look like the designs were done super quick and slapped on in photoshop because samples were not available for photographing. Were the illustrations done on an etch-a-sketch? Funny that someone from the world of high fashion should be involved.
Bonne Belle has better packaging.
I think Lagerfeld did them on paper by hand .
Yay! I’ve been waiting for this collection to come out! I do wish the cat on the packaging looked more like a Birman instead of just a white, fluffy cat with blue eyes.
Yayyyyyyyyyyyy!!! I’m so glad you posted this!!! This was what I was referring too! 😀 How do you like it, Christine? I think the cat got me, plus I love K.L. That man is Legend. There are flaws, of course.. Like, all oils should be offered.. The floral themed ones did that. But to just have a little something from it feels special and unique. Will you ever swatch the hundreds of MUFE artist shadows? That would be helpful, but I realize that’s asking a lot as you push through and get by now. Something to think about.. What an excellent reference chart though.. Happy Shupette! The makeup is the best part, and the new shu mattes… Oh baby.. 🙂 I really like it!
It’s pretty cute but still childish. I think it might have a huge hit in Japan and as a collective collection for Karl’s fans. But I have passed the “baby blue eyeshadow” age and most of the pastel color eyeshadow don’t look good on me and they tend to be chalky. Pass for me. Phewwww, my wallet just dodged a bullet.
I love cats so I’m thinking of getting some of the products in this collection. However, I loved the design in last year’s Holiday collection better.
Choupette!! *happy flailing* Those little paw prints are WAY too cute.
OMG. So pricey, and for nothing exciting? I mean, $75 for a pair of really impractical, not that exciting, false lashes?!
So adorable
Holiday?!?! Weird. (And not in a good/ cool/ awesome way.) All of it = huge pass from me. To each their own, though.
A lot of this packaging (and some of the products) look really cheap and juvenile – like play makeup for 9 year old girls! No thanks. Just because it’s got Karl Lagerfeld’s name on it doesn’t make it automatically wonderful.
I am going to pass on this – but thank you for showing it!
the packaging is the cutest! i thought i saw makeup bags on instagram? i would have loved one since nothing else make up wise is calling to me.
There is something about the packaging that is putting me off – I really don’t like white packaging. It feels cheapish to me (I am sure in real life it would probably look OK). Secondly, the eyeshadow colours seem to be missing the mark. I thought I would love the blue trio, but when I saw them they reminded me of the 80’s blues.
I think this is a big pass from me.
I love the bejeweled pink furry falsies for a party, or just to look at. 😉
I have to say that I don’t like Karl Lagerfeld, at least not his public image. But it’s not his cat’s fault and being kind of a crazy cat lady, I just melt when I see Choupette’s picture. I think I want something from this Shupette collection, just because of those blue eyes!
On a side note, is Shu Uemura’s cleansing oil always so expensive??
The eyelashes are gorgeous, and the cat paw liners are too cute. The rest of it doesn’t appeal to me. I love cats with all my heart, so that’s not the problem. The packaging is cheap looking and too cutesy. This looks like a makeup line aimed at 8-year-old girls, and not in a retro-cool way that I’d usually be on board with. That furry cat head palette cover (I think that’s what is is, not sure) is creepy. Pass, pass, pass.
Part of me really wants that palette with the furry cat case. Another part of me (the one that pays the bills) thinks sticking pictures of my own cat onto stuff I already have will suffice. What to do…
I felt meh when I saw the promo pics. But then I saw the swatch from evonnz and now I want everything!
I was going to say how awesome those pink, furry lashes looked until I saw the price. Jeez!
I thought this was an ad for play makeup my daughter would want. Sorry, pass. I love cats, have 2. I love makeup. This is..well, tacky looking to me. I dont live anywhere near a Shu Uemura retailer either. If I loved something, I would order online like I do their eyelash curler. These would have to score super high in the review in order for me to get past the packaging. Ok, the pencils are doable. 🙂
I love all things campy, a little tacky, and super kawaii AND I’m a “cat lady,” but this collection is tacky and cheap looking, but not in a good way. Perhaps because everything seems very expensive that I am turned off? I also feel like the packaging and products inside are very generic aside from the “choupette” image. It reminds me of Bonnie Bell’s Christmas sets I used to get as a kid.
The cat is very cute, and I love anything cat-related, but I don’t want to encourage Karl Lagerfeld!
The graphics look like something I’d have made in middle school for my MySpace profile, unfortunately!
Is it just me or all look rather cheap? I mean is cute I guess, but even the design of the little kitty looks just cheap and done in haste.
Pretty, but nothing stole my heart!
I thought the furry cat was the cover of the palette, but it’s actually a pouch!
Tacky. Wow, really really not good.
So I got this palette because the cool tone/warm tone paired looks and a set of 6 portable lip colors appealed to me (the palette is very small and doesn’t take much space in my purse). The shadows are decent, though they are quite stiff and are not immediately high-pigmented, but are buildable. There is a ton of shimmer in the eyeshadows, which is a good or bad thing depending on your preference. The lip colors were a huge disappointment though. They are greasy, not very pigmented, have a funny odor, and come off almost immediately. I also bought the eyelash curler and though it has a different feel to it because the clamping mechanism is unique, I’m not quite sure why it is so favored over other curlers.
I’m in the process of testing the larger palette, but greasy is a good way to describe them…
Even though I own it, I’m very eager to hear your thoughts on it too! For reference I got the “Shupette Has it All” Paletter (8 shadows, 6 lip colors).
