Screen Actors Guild Awards (SAG) - Best of the Red Carpet

Here are breakdowns of a few of the red carpet looks from SAG! We have the details for America Ferrara’s makeup, Ellen Pompeo’s hair and makeup, Cate blanchett’s locks, and Eva Longoria’s tight curls.

Learn how to look like a Red Carpet-approved celebrity… America Ferrara
Vanessa Scali, celebrity makeup artist, was inspired by Hollywood glamour and opted for a soft and modern take on it for the actress and used Lancome products to do it. She used Le Lipstique Lip Coloring Stick in Raisinberry and Color Fever Gloss in On Fire on the lips with Couture Warms Palette and Stylish Neutrals Palette on the eyes. For liner, she used Artliner in Noir (precision point liquid eyeliner), while the mascara was CILS Booster XL (super-enhancing mascara base) and High Définicils High Definition Mascara.

Ellen Pompeo
Harry Josh, a Creative Consultant for the John Freida Collection, created Pompeo’s lovely up-do last night. “We went through tons of runway looks and decided on a very sexy bed head style. I wanted to make Ellen look effortlessly gorgeous, like she just rolled right out of bed and threw on an evening gown and a pair of Christian Louboutin pumps.” He washed her hair, then blew each section dry and built it up using John Frieda Sheer Blonde Crystal Clear Hairspray. He let it dry, then crumbled it in his hands. He then pulled it all into a messy side knot with a very high crown. He pulled layer on top of layer, giving the look lots of detail with wispy flyaways that would catch the light. The end result was an understated and sexy style.

Physician’s Formula artist Joanna Schlip is responsible for Pompeo’s flawless face. She was inspired by the Christian Lacroix fashion show when she created the look. She used Armani Silk Luminous foundation (#4) with Cle de Peau (#2) concealer with Physician’s Formula Organic Wear in Translucent Light Organics to set the foundation. To give a healthy dose of color, Schlip used Physician’s Formula Organic Wear in Pink Organics, and she kept lips looking sultry by lining with MAC’s Sub-culture lip liner and coloring with Physician’s Formula Plump Palette in Mauves. For her smoky eyes, Schlip used Physician’s Formula Eye Definer Felt-Tip Eye Marker in Warm Black with Physicians Formula Shimmer Strips for Blue Eyes, finishing with Prescriptives False Eyelashes in black.

Cate Blanchett
To achieve the look, Mark first took Cate’s damp hair and applied Biolage Hydro- Foaming Styler all over to add a little texture, and then blow-dried her hair with a medium round brush. When the hair was completely dry, Mark used a one inch HAI Elite curling iron, taking random sections of hair from one to three inches in size sections of hair, and wrapping them around the iron. According to Mark — the trick to getting perfect waves and curls is to never actually open the iron, just wrap the hair around it while closed. When finished, Mark rubbed Biolage smooththérapie Smoothing Serum in the palms of his hands and raked it through Cate’s hair to soften the curls into soft, loose waves and blend the curled pieces with the straighter pieces of hair. To finish, Mark used Biolage Complete Control Hairspray to softly set the look so it lasted all night.

Eva Longoria
Get Eva’s pin-up curls by spraying damp hair with ghd thermal protector and blow dry. Then, take a small section of hair, and starting at the root, hold the ghd IV styler vertically and gently clamp hair in between the plates. Then turn the styler 180  so the hair is twisted around part of the styler and slowly pull the styler through the hair to create a perfect curl (the technique is similar to curling ribbon with a pair of scissors. Move the styler slowly through the hair to create tighter curls like Eva’s. Spray ghd ultimate hairspray for a non-sticky look that will last throughout the night. Finish by smoothing on a little bit of ghd polishing serum through the curls to control flyaways and give a high-shine finish.
