Rimmel Glam'Eyes Mono Eyeshadow Review, Photos, Swatches

Rimmel Glam'Eyes Mono Eyeshadow

Beauty on a Budget:  Rimmel Glam’Eyes Mono Eyeshadow

Rimmel Glam’Eyes Mono Eyeshadow ($3.99) come in several shades, but I recently tested out three shades:

  • Royal Violet (400) is a lightened lavender purple with subtle white shimmer.
  • Sapphire (450) is a nearly matte, periwinkle blue.
  • Posh Peacock (500) is a gorgeous shade of blue with an aqua-teal shimmer-sheen.

These are definitely some of the better textured eyeshadows from mass that I’ve encountered recently. They’re also quite pigmented without having to maneuver in certain ways, like packing it on, using sponge-tip applicators, etc. Glam’Eyes Mono Eyeshadows work best with brushes, as the eyeshadows are quite silky. I found a sponge-tip felt a little rough on the shadows–like it was causing the shadow to break apart a bit.

Posh Peacock (500) was definitely my favorite, because it was richly pigmented (more so than the other two I tried), and it was just stunning when swatched. It was vibrant and had depth when I’ve come not to expect that from a lot of eyeshadows on the market these days.  The other two shades were decently pigmented, but they were a little more on the powdery side, which is due in part to their more matte texture.

If you want to know more about how products are evaluated, read out Rating System FAQ! 🙂

  • Product: 25/30
  • Value: 8/10
  • Ease of Use: 4/5
  • Packaging: 4/5

Recommendation: They’re not the best eyeshadows I’ve tried, but they’re very good. For $4, they’re a great entry point for those looking to play around with eyeshadows or even just brighter colors in general, without breaking the bank. And for those who get a little thrill out of brilliant drugstore scores, you may want to pick up one of their new Mono shades.

Those colors are vibrant, I’ve always wondered how pigmented Rimmel eyeshadows were, now I might have to try them!

I love Posh Peacock too! What a gorgeous shade! I am not a serious Rimmel fan, but I do from time to time get some nice stuff from them. I know that their bronzers are just brilliant. And I have about two Rimmel lipsticks.

I have Spicy Bronze and Royal Violet, I love ’em both since they’re both pigmented, easy to blend and its cheap…the fragile packaging however…=/

Carrying them around is no problem (I’ve done that plenty of times without either of them breaking). However, I have NO idea what happened to my Royal Violet because I put it it in my makeup bag like usual, aaaaand at the end of the day, I pulled my makeup bag out with the shadow lid open and my entire bag purple. =(

I didn’t drop my makeup bag or anything, nor was my entire bag particularly smushed…maybe a lipstick or something in the makeup bag pressed against one of its weak points or maybe it was just the one that I got was slightly weak in construction…but it does give me an excuse to get a replacement or try out another color! XD

Think I might go for Sapphire next, as much as I’m drooling over Posh Peacock’s color…my small eyes can’t pull off that color >.<

Yea, it left an uber mess…the lid was all cracked and blah =( and I made sure the lid was closed too…

But thank goodness for baby wipes!! My bag is now back to its original state ^_^

>.< Oh no! Just reading "black dust" makes me cringe…

Broken items in packages suck too, especially when they put everything in one envelope vs individually wrapping them (imo at least)

Thanks for reviewing these! They’ve caught my eye the past three or four times I’ve walked into the drug store, but I was afraid they would be a complete disappointment. Now I can feel safe giving into temptation!

I definitely want Posh Peacock now. I also wanted to say that I love and really appreciate your drugstore product reviews, as I am just an unemployed teenager with a love of makeup and very little money to spend. Please keep them coming, Christine!

I have Posh Peacock and I have had it for some time. Its really gorgeous and is a super eyeshadow for only $4! Although I only pull it out on occasion, its really pretty when I want a fun look!

aw man, sapphire’s the one i had my eye on and it appears to be the least vibrant of the bunch…guess i’ll have to pass :/

Price is taken against comparable brands — I’m not going to compare price of Rimmel against Chanel — I compare Rimmel against Revlon, COVERGIRL, NYX, etc. and against the quantity you get for the price. It looks at whether the brand has priced the product above, below, or around the same level as direct competitors, and then it looks at whether you’re getting above, below, or around average quantity for that price.

I had bought one of their Colour Rush Duo Eye Shadows in fuchsia and purple shades that looked so lovely but they turn out too sheer so I never use them, but those mono eyeshadows swatches look pretty decent!

Hmmm. I very much like Rimmel’s soft kohl eyeliners but have never checked the eyeshadows. However, after seeing these, I’m going to definitely look into it. BIG rave for the Posh Peacock, I have been looking for a color like that for aaages.

Very surprised by these swatches. I had given up on Rimmel eye shadows a very long time ago. Every one I’ve tried has been pure crap. And now I see these. Hmmm….might have to try a few of these singles out when they’re on sale.

I love the new formula on the Glam Eyes- their singles, trios and quads!!! I hated their older formula but the new formula is AMAZING! soft, smooth & easy to use, its a great addition to us girls who cant afford HE makeup & i really do enjoy these. I love BACKSTAGE. its a gorgeous Taupe!! their new Matte shades are incredible too!!! The matte brown shadow single & in the new Smoky Brun quad- great for crease work!! these are def worth trying!
