Rare Beauty Soft Pinch Tinted Lip Oil ($20.00 for 0.10 oz.) is supposed to have a “gel-to-oil” formula that tints the lips with “dewy color.” There are eight shades, and I have swatches of all of them in this post!

Am I the only one that these oxidized on? I bought the lightest color Hope and it oxidizes to a much darker color in a matter of minutes when it dries down. It’s a nice formula I just wish it I ended up with the color I purchased.

These have a stain, so they definitely change color (the tint seems to be a pinky-red overall) – basically imagine a pink-red mixed with whatever the color appears initially, that’s what you’re going to get. Alternatively, if you look at the doefoot applicatory, you can see the staining right on it!

Yes! This is what I have been seeing in every single YT video of these! Like after each shade, the reviewer has had to tamp down the stain from the previous shade with whatever concealer or foundation is left in their sponge before applying the next shade. One who I watched last night demonstrated that this technology was very common in K-Beauty, and that these ARE manufactured in S. Korea!

Having watched a few K-drama’s with my daughter (Ha!), that’s good to know, as on the dramas they definitely seemed into such tints. And the primary colors of them were always a pink-orange-red base (and only variations of that) with a tendency to be wet looking. These at least look less wet.

Serenity particularly strikes me; it’d be good for my coloring (very light, warm, clear spring). It goes on my list to check out in store.

I bought Wonder and will be returning it. It’s not a lip oil, it has a thin liquid lipstick consistency that sinks in quickly and leaves a slightly uneven stain and my lips feel drier than before I applied. I also hate that it has a burning/plumping sensation, which wasn’t mentioned anywhere in the description; I wouldn’t have bought it at all had I known.

I have a lot of theses stain formula type products, I love them. My lips are quite pale, and when my lip products wear off I look quite washed out. Having some stain on is essential for me. I also like to just stain the center of my mouth with a darker color and apply a lip gloss everywhere else; the effect is flushed lips. I am curious about this formula, but I would only pick up one. Because in general all stains want to end up the same reddish pink. So they will look the same as they wear off. Elf makes a very similar product and the stain left behind is more nuanced.
These are in no way an oil though. But lip oils are very trendy so I understand why they were marketed this way.

Interesting. I may check these out. I still have a huge preference for my Dior tried and true lip balms. I can never go wrong with those.

I got 2 of these — they’re quite pretty but they definitely dry down to a pinkish stain. They remind me a lot of the YSL Glossy Lip Stains that were so huge like 10 years ago (has it been that long?!?)

Uuugh. I hate “stains” that all end up the same shade of pinky red, despite whatever the initial shade is. Although, interestingly enough, the shade Delight—which Rare shows as a much deeper brown—seems to be missing the usual culprit CI 45410 (aka Red 27 or 28) and only has CI 17200 (Red 33) (along with other colorants, but that’s the only red).
