Pretty much ALL sheer lipgloss look the same on my lips unless they are purple, blue or green. lol

It’s the reason I pick just one lipgloss and use it for the year over lipsticks, I know seems boring but I also hate sheer lipsttick colours as well. I buy makeup for colour, if I want something sheer I go with a tinted lip balm.

In general no, I don’t like sheer lipglosses as I have pale lips and most sheers (especially pink, peach, nude etc.) just look clear on me and I need more color than that.  But I have some sheer darker shades (like MAC’s Oversexed  or Urban Decay’s Jesse) that I absolutely adore because while they are transparent, they still give color.   So my feeling on sheer glosses are that most are a gigantic disappointed, but the few I love I love hard.

I can’t really say I like or dislike sheer gloss. When I do makeup I want the lip color to be opaque regardless if it’s just a nude or an electric blue. Sheer I do like in case I do anything subtle but even then I’m not a fan of glitter or sparkle in my lip color.

I am not a fan of sheer lip gloss, I feel that If I wanted just the shine I could just get ANY clear gloss and it will basically look the same on me because I have pigmented lips. But it holds a special place because it reminds me when I was in 6th grade and wanted to start wearing lipgloss and my mom used to get me those roll-on fruity scented ones, strawberry scent just takes me back.

I like to see the color of my lip gloss , but if I’m wearing my favorite lipstick and color that I don’t want to change I’d use a clear lip gloss.

I try not to buy sheer lip gloss. I don’t see the point in owning 15 different colors when they all look the same on the lips. I have a couple for wearing over lipstick, but I generally prefer my lippies to have some color to them. If it’s not opaque, that’s fine, I just want to to see the color of it.

Not a fan….seems really dumb to me. If I want to give a matte lipstick some shine,I put a lipgloss that’s close to the lipstick color on.

It really depends how sheer the gloss is. If it adds a hint of colour or a tint, then I like it, but if it is so sheer that it looks clear on my lips I would rather not waste my money.

At least one sheer lip gloss is definitely a necessity. Any more than that and I find that they all end up looking the same, so I like for the rest of my lip glosses to be different and range in color/opacity etc.

I’m not a fan of sheer gloss. For me gloss doesn’t necessarily have to be as opaque as a lipstick, but I like it to give my lips some color. If not what is that point, if I wanted no color I’d buy a clear gloss and be done with it. There is nothing I hate more than when I get a new gloss that has a gorgeous rich color in the tube, but when I put it on my lips it is either clear or just adds a hint of shimmer. It is so disappointing.

I own a number of sheer and pigmented glosses, most of them from the Chanel Glossimer range. Glossimers get a lot of crap sometimes because of how sheer they have become in the last couple years but I am perfectly fine with them. The texture, finish and shimmer is very unique to Chanel IMO and if every lip gloss was pigmented then you wouldn`t need lipstick. I think pigmented glosses are messier than lipsticks and are less forgiving. Sheer, pigmented; doesn`t really matter to me =D.

I love sheer lipglosses for my everyday use. They look good with anything i wear.

I think the one thing i use most in my entire collection is my sheer lipgloss….

I only like sheer lipglosses that have a cream finish to them. Sparkles and shimmer in a mostly clear gloss just won’t do it for me. It has to have SOME sort of pigment to it, otherwise I would just apply a sheer layer of my regular gloss, lol. I do like MAC’s Cremesheen Glasses (mainly the medium/deep shades), but I can do without the Lustreglasses and the Dazzleglasses, TYVM.

Love sheer gloss. But it depends on the color. I like sheer reds, bronzes, berries, purples. When it comes to pinks and corals, I like them less sheer, since the colors turn funny on me, or don’t show up. However, I like sheer with major shine, no large sparkles, or exploding with shimmer. I’m about the shine. I love, love sheer gloss!

The only reason I like sheer lipgloss is that I can sometimes use it to tone down a more vivid lipstick or gloss. Otherwise, it seems wasteful to have more than one sheer lipgloss.

I love sheer glosses! My lips have almost no pigment.. so sheer usually still gives some color! I love sheer but I still like it thick.. not watery..that’s a waste! Plus great over lipsticks.. I don’t wear many lipglosses that are truly opaque.. I find it not wearable .. in my opinion! I hope all brands keep making glosses that aren’t so opaque as lipsticks.. variety is key! I love them all! 🙂

Ariana Avatar

I like a sheer color. The more opaque it is, the more sticky and non smooth it seems. I don’t like clear lipgloss either because I just use Vaseline if I want that look, but I like pinks and nudes that are sheer. I think Pink Nectar LustreGlass is the perfect lipgloss. I also recently started to like Morningglory LustreGlass.

Kat Avatar

Eh, not a fan on bare lips as I have pretty pigmented lips, so over bare lips I can just use a clear gloss to get the same look. But I think they’re great to just slightly warm up a nude lipstick.

knownever Avatar

Sheer in terms of color is fine as long as there’s something interesting to the finish like glitter or shimmer. Just plain, clear glossy shine is pointless. Maybe maaayyybbe a gloss will get a pass if it has a really great scent or flavor. That’s why I hate lancome juicy tubes (except the few with glitter!) because no matter how fun and wild they look in the tube they will usually always be thick, gooey clearness.

Lucie Avatar

Bleh, not a fan of lipgloss in general-but sheer lipgloss with nothing under it? Boringggg! Don’t own any. I just don’t want to be tempted by ‘simple’ make up; keeping your lip color wardrobe full of bright purples and reds and oranges keeps you from falling in to a habit of going for ‘safe’ things rather than fun things. Sheer anything is for people who wear make up to look ‘pretty’-I wear make up to express myself.

Haha and there’s my very passionate and judgmental lipgloss rant of the day! 😛

silvi Avatar

i always have one sheer lipgloss in my purse. I use it mostly after my lipstick to create glossy lip on whatever colour of lipstick that i use so it’s a staple for me

Mor Avatar

Don’t like them. They usually feel sticky, and don’t add as much color as I’d like. I usually prefer bolder looks. If I feel like going sheer, I use a tinted lip balm instead, because they tend to feel a lot better on, and my lips are really dry.

i prefer lipgloss that are not super opaque bcoz usually they set into finelines and look very gross up close. Sheer ones with a hint of color are more flattering for anyone in my opinion. the mentha line from BBW are one of my fav coz they still look like ur lips but just better! so juicy but not sticky at all. some of the MAC plushglass are very ideal as well. creamy yet not sticky and not opaque like the lipglasses. the point if the right pigmentation i think, not too much, and not too subtle.
