It’s hard for me to find a shampoo that doesn’t break me out… on my face, chest, and back.
I guess it’s not really a rant about shampoo – but about my sensitive skin!
I’ve been using Aveda’s Color Conserve for awhile now with no problems.
My dermatologist recommends using dandruff shampoo for that problem. I’m not sure if you’ve already tried it, but if your current shampoo ever starts breaking you out (and I really hope it doesn’t), that might be something to try. 🙂
My dermatologist also recommended that – I tried it, but I hated it!
that can be from not rinsing conditioner well, or from other hair products
my new favs are the giovanni tea tree and smooth as silk poos. i am still testing out the two but it seems that the tea tree poo is winning.
i hate that most shampoos dry out my hair and make my scalp itchy…i have to be very careful with ingredients
Shampoo is an absolute must but I just hate that I’ve never been able to find one that works perfectly for me! 🙁
After trying so many shampoos i have a verdict. What you pay is what you get!KERASTASE forever!
I love Kerastase, but I feel they put too much fragrance in their products, so I’ve veered away from their stuff as of late.
I have used L’Oreal Elvive/Elseve shampoo and conditioner for years and years now (whichever I pick, doesn’t matter, they seem to be the same to be honest) and they work very well for me.
I use Lush shampoos, specifically the Hard puck because of the hard-water in my area. It makes my curls soft and doesn’t weight them down.
After searching for a good shampoo for a long while, I finally realized that shampoo has been far too drying for my hair… so I stopped using it. I just use thin conditioner to scrub my scalp and remove extra product from my hair (baking soda to clarify when needed). No more itchy scalp and I have beautiful, bouncy curls again 🙂
I am totally ignorant about what’s best for my hair. I wasted money on a salon shampoo for colored hair that that still stripped my color. But my stylist made me suspicious of drugstore brands. How do I win?!? I am testing out Lush’s Big shampoo right now. Sure it’s nice! But enough to buy it? I fear the sea salt will dry out my fine hair. Oh, the CONFUSION! LOL.
I would definitely not be using Lush Big shampoo every day. Not even every other day. That’s a once a week shampoo because of all the sea salt in it.
I love Aussie Opposites Attract.
Heck, I love moist and awesome volume too even though I haven’t tried moist. My hair has never felt softer than when I was using Opposites Attract.
Girlz! Stop looking for shampoo! I have the best one! Its aruba aloe island remedy! Its amazing! Smells so good! I have super oily hair that needs shampoo everday! This is the only shampoo that I can go every other day washing my hair! You can get it on amazon. Its 17.95 a bottle! Try it! Its great for all hair types and has soothing aloe in it! Enjoy!
u guys have to try the PRIVE line of shampoos and conditioners….they are all natural and leave my hair so silky and smooth…i can even go 3 days without rewashing which never happens with any other shampoo!
Prive is great, I agree! I love their relaxing gel before drying/flat ironing my hair.
I bought Marc Anthony volume shampoo (can’t remember the name; it’s an orange bottle), and it’s great. Lots of volume, and I love the smell (and it’s not too strong.
Tigi superstar is my favorite! it is sulfate-free, smells great and gives me great volume!!
oh yes, they smell like bubble gum
I love BBW’s Moisturizing shampoos and conditioners. They’re not to expensive and they keep my hair really, really moisturized.
ever since i’ve tried L’oreal’s Ever Pure I am in love with it! The smell is awesome, but it’s soft and doesn’t really linger. My hair feels really soft and the color does stay longer without fading. it’s really great.
i tried it and threw it away. made my scalp itch like crazy!
The only time I use shampoo and it’s usually the clairifying one is when I color my hair. I condition wash my hair instead and my hair is healthier and thicker because of it. I’ve neen wanting to try shampoo bars because there suppose to be better to wash your hair with so maybe I’ll do that next , I think Lush and amazon sells them
Joico for colored hair
Hands down the best shampoo out there is Nexxus Therappe. It is very gentle and very moisturizing. If you haven’t tried it, or haven’t used it in a while, it is definitely worth a try! My runner up would be Redken Extreme shampoo for anyone who chemically treats their hair.
I hate that my favorite Fredrick Fekkai shampoo is so expensive! So I have to stick with my Dove shampoo which I like and I am comfortable with but once I get a job and make my own money. I will be heading back to Fredrick Fekkai!
I love how my hair feels silky, smooth and clean after a good shampoo. My favourite shampoos are from La Coupe at the moment.
i’m loving the scent of pantene clinicare, smells like dewy melon. but due to my hair condition so i’m using head & shoulder for my drandruff then follow by pantene clinicare conditioner which moisturise my hair!
Favourite shampoo, Redkin’s All Soft. The best shampoo I’ve used to date. Love the scent and softness it adds to my hair. As for drugstore shampoo, I like Head & Shoulders. It feels fresh and clean.
I haven’t found one that I love yet, want something that smells nice but not too strong & one that does not weigh down my hair. Tried a few salon brands and didn’t find one I fell in love with…tried drug store and had the same results. Ugh…
Aveda is my tried and true – my hair is shiny, very few tangles and it’s grown like a weed this year. Pantene products make me look like an 80s reject and Herbal Essence makes my hair greasy.
Second on the TiGi superstar…best sulfate free poo I’ve tried thus far (Giovanni tea tree= too drying, Kenra Platinum for fine/thin=not cleansing enough for oily hair, Everpure= GROSS, made my hair like straw and its not pH balanced, SuzzFx Whipped creme & honey= nice, not cleansing enough for oily hair, Escencia by Samy = bad, I could go on and on).
i’ve honestly never noticed a difference in how my hair acts or feels – in all of the hundreds of shampoos that i’ve probably used in my life so far. conditioners on the other hand…
we have a local company in my home town that makes their own shampoos and conditioners. really pleasant smelling (not too much just nice) and probably the best conditioner i’ve ever used. HORRIBLE packaging. opaque lilac colored bottled with hokey labels. looks like a femenine hygene product you’d find at the dollar store… in a clearance bin.
[shudder]
I am sensitive to synthetic fragrances and formaldehyde releasing preservatives, so it is very hard to find a shampoo and conditioner that I can use without getting itchy! If I do find one, it leaves my hair looking like straw and very dry! If only I could find a great moisturizing, fragrance free shampoo with preservatives that I can tolerate!
I tryed a lot of expensive Haircare-lines. Alterna=the most expensive Haircare ever is great, but only the TEN (the best) and the Caviar (moisturising)lines. The best professional haircare is Kerastase. And the best drugstore for me (i didnt try much of it) is the new John Frieda Root Awakening (dry to normal hair). I love it ! I have psoriasis, witch make my sculp very ittcy and fucked up 🙂 But this haircare cools my sculp down, its very comfortable, i also have a lot less dandruff now. And, its great for my hair also ! But, i wasch my hair every day, it may be not good for someone, who wants the hair to look fresh a long time.
So many shampoos make my hair fall out! I tried so many when I was young, and only had problems. Currently using Tigi’s Superstar shampoo. It seems to fade my hair the least too (dyed red). Bath & Body Works volumizing shampoo is another one for me that works, their current formulation. Previous formulation made my hair fall out.
I just hate shampoo, period. I can’t do the no-poo thing a lot of curlies recommend because my scalp gets too oily and nasty, but if I’m not really careful what shampoo I use it dries my hair out horribly. I’ve discovered that the best method for me is to use a really gentle, sulfate-free shampoo and only wash my hair every other day or every third day.
I normally use Trader Joe’s Replenish shampoo, which is cheap and works great on my hair. Sephora gave me a sample of some Ojon shampoo that was even better, but it was like $20 for 8oz. Yike! Maybe I’ll get some as a special treat and use it once a week or something, because it did make my hair really nice, it just costs 20x (LITERALLY! the TJ’s stuff is $2 for 16oz) what my current shampoo does!
i love love love aussie awsome volume or ion hard water shampoo the both help ballance my mixed girl hair
I have fine hair and the BEST shampoo, I find, is Dove!
I’ve tried many (Fructis, Pantene (hate, too drying), Brilliant Brunette, L’oreal, Herbal Essences (old bottle was great), Head & Shoulders (got rid of my dandruff :),etc) and keep going back.
Fructis, L’oreal and Head & Shoulders aren’t bad either.
