I am not a pencil liner fan. I prefer the look of liquid or gel on the upper lash line and pencils smudge on my lower lash line. The only pencils I like are UD’s 24/7 liners.

what I love: great pigments and texture that allow me to line or smudge or both
what I hate: pigments that look nothing like the color they are supposed to be or that are so soft that they can’t be used as liners, I like shadow pencils (sometimes), but not liner pencils that go on like shadow pencils.

I love that u can sharpen to a fine point, have a lot of control and colors that are rich n creamy. Hate when they are hard, the color is weak and when they break and smudge easily. Fav eyeliners are clinique cream liners and ud liners. Hate mac kohl and any kohl liner due to it smudging so easily including when u breathe on it.

I personally only use Pencil….so happy that they are so creamy & almost liquid like But sharpening can be a pain in the end they are well worth it…I however can’t get enough of Black E/L & some of my current fav. Brands of E/L are MAC,UD,Prestige,Bourjois & Cargo swimmables set this summer also wowed me!!!

Pencil eyeliners..
I like them because they’re easy to apply and easy to smudge. They’re pretty pigmented and not so ‘harsh’ as liquid eyeliners.
Ok, that’s something I like less, when you want a really strong, thin line, it’s better to use liquid liner, but pencil stays my favorite ^^

I only use pencil liners on my waterline.
I love when it’s not too hard but not too creamy.
And it has to be waterproof.
I hate when they are too hard that it hurts when you try to line your eyes.

My favorite one is the Revlon Colorstay eyeliner 🙂

I like pencil liners, but I’m devoted to fluidlines. However, if I use a pencil liner, it needs to be creamy, pigmented, and long wearing. I hate the pencils that drag across the lid or aren’t nearly as pigmented as they should be.

I don’t want any eyeliner that I have to sharpen. Not just because sharpening is super annoying, but because most of them just don’t go on as well as retractable eyeliner. There are some exceptions, sure, but that’s mostly the case.

I don’t like how soft most of them are, they’re tough to apply precisely, even the ones most people rave about like UD’s. I think it may be because it’s relatively hot here in Texas tho’. I’d much rather use a gel.

I only really use pencil eyeliner to line my upper waterline, and usually end up hating my look if I line the lower one, just because of my eye shape and how it goes with my features. Sometimes I’ll use it as a “rough draft” before I put liquid or gel eyeliner on so I know it’s precise and a little bit deeper. I love the urban decay 24/7s but right now I’m trying to finish off the rimmel one I bought that sucks.

My only gripe about pencil liners (good ones like MUFE or UD 24/7) is that I use them up too quick since they need to be sharpened so often! I could use up an entire pencil with a month’s worth of daily use – compared to a year with a jar of Fluidline. I totally would love to use my pencils as my daily liner – they are way quicker and more convenient in many ways. But it just doesn’t work out economically….sigh. 🙂

For my upper lid I like liquid liners or creams, the thing I dislike about using pencils on the lower lid they smudge I wish they would make a pencil that don’t smudge

I started off using them but since then I’ve moved on to gel eyeliners since I’ve never found one that didn’t migrate, smudge when I don’t want it to, or just plain disappears off my lids.

I hate it when the product is too hard and would not apply on the waterline. It could do as a brow pencil, I guess, but I don’t think blue or green brows would look good…

I think I might be the only person in the world who isn’t over the moon with the UD 24/7 liners. I love the range of colors, and I do like how they apply. What I don’t like is how much I have to go over and over the line to get the pigmentation and depth of color that I like! Part of it is that I really prefer dark liners in general for my upper lash line(I DO like Zero and Whiskey, but even Bourbon isn’t dark enough for me). I have extremely watery eyes so I don’t tend to put much on my lower lash line, which is the one thing that I think they would excel at for me (in theory).

I didn’t really finish my thought with my last comment, LOL – I do love my MAC liners in Tarnish, Raven, and Sense of Style, as well as the pearlglide liners. The color in those is exactly what you expect it to be with one swipe.

My gripe is more my own fault. I have poor vision but don’t wear contacts, so I generally line my eyes with the pencil (or brush if using liquid/gel) in one hand and a mirror in the other. For some reason, half the time I’m using a pencil, I manage to smack it into the mirror when I change its position to do my other eye. Then I’ve lost a chunk of product AND the mirror’s got gunk on it. D:

Pencil liners are so quick and easy to apply, and they do not look too strong for an every day look. However, they smudge without my permission. 🙁 And yes, migrate too even when set with eye shadow/eyebrow powder.

My eyes are pretty oily so it has been quite a long hunt to look for THE eyeliner.
I have been quite lucky in the last couple of months. Dior’s Waterproof Long-wear Eyeliner Pencil and Estee Lauder’s Double Wear pencil eyeliners are very amazing.

I’m still searching for the perfect eyeliner that will not smudge or budge, I don’t apply eyeliner on the waterline or anything but it always smudges.
