The main thing I like about night cream is how you can throw it on and have it do all its work as you sleep. You don’t have to worry about how you look greasy or anything. By the time you wake up, your skin is all soft and subtle. At least, that’s what happens with the good brands.
I love Decleor’s Neroli Night Balm, it refreshes my skin and gives me lovely glow in the morning!
I don’t believe in using a special night cream. I drink a lot of water and I believe my dermatologist when she tells me my skin regenerates itself during the night. Getting a good night sleep is much more important to me than a cream 🙂
I looooove night cream, I can’t go to bed without having something on my face or my skin will feel tight. I sometimes skip moisturizer for daytime if my foundation is moisturizing enough and the heat tends to make me oily – but never at night! Plus, you can use very thick formulas, in the Winter for example, and wake up with pretty skin.
I’ve never tried night cream so I’m not a die-hard fan of it, but I’m also not opposed to it in any way. I do have a skin care regimen, but I just use my regular face cream, not any special night cream. Although, if something caught my eye I might pick it up.
The moment i skipped my night cream, i noticed my skin was getting clearer, and repairing faster from acne breakouts. Call me old-fashioned, but my skin is visibly relieved 🙂
I bought Loreal Hydra Renewal as a hydrating cream, for day and night. But i mostly use it at night only, if i use during it the day it’s only when my face is drier than normal and i still put a layer of my daytime moisturiser as it contains an SPF.
I don’t differentiate between day creams and night creams because I’m very oily and don’t really need either one. I do however have a deluxe sample of Kate Somerville Goat Milk cream that I’ve been using on my occasional dry patches at night and it seems to work without being greasy.
I really like night creams but I hate, hate, hate ones that leave a film on your skin. I’ve used ones in the past (from Simple, a UK brand) that used to make me feel like I was stuck to my pillow – eugh! I’d always put it on about 1 hour before bed so it had time to soeak in which just doesn’t work with my schedule.
I love my night cream. REN Boswellia Serrata. Its very lightweight, and does an amazing job! That said, its light enough that when my skin is REALLY dry or sensitive, I mix a teeny bit with my ordinary moisturizer in the morning before I go walk at work.
I am a bit indifferent. I don’t have a special night creme but if I remember I will moisturize before I go to bed. I like to think that my oily t-zone skin does enough moisturizing on its own.
I love my Clinique All about Eyes!!!!!
I can’t live without my night cream. It has a very “hard to love” scent but it does wonders with banishing any abrupt blemishes that I tend to get from time to time. I had initially thought that night creams were a gimmick and I was wasting my money but after switching to Living Nature Balancing night gel (which is more of a creamy texture) I am convinced it is a must in my skincare regime.
I don’t use anything particularly specified as a “Night” cream, but I do use a reasonably intensive moisturizer (Clarins facial oil Orchidee Bleu or Olay Regenerist Micro Sculpting cream) in winter or if I’m extra dry (and flaky, bleh!) and something with AHA’s or gentle exfoliating benefits (Guinot Radiance Renewal Cream is a fave) in warmer weather.
And sometimes I don’t use anything and just give my skin a break.
I love, love, love, LOVE Eucerine Redness Relief Night Cream!!!! It’s almost like a gel so it would be good for normal or oily skin, maybe even skin that’s a tiny bit dry. I feel like my complexion is more even because of it.
I’d really like to find an effective night cream, but I just don’t know where to start. Some night creams are expensive, and I’d really rather not waste money. I do occasionally use vitamin E cream in the evening if my skin is particularly dry.
I know that it’s not recommended that you use products with sunscreen (especially since it’s unnecessary). I’ve pretty much been using whatever I have on hand, from jojoba oil, to lush’s dream cream or juice beauty oil free moisturizer. I’ve heard very good things about hyaluronic serum, but I haven’t had a chance to try it yet. Once I run out of everything else I’m planning on picking some up.
i have oily skin and i don’t use night cream. I’ve tried some sample but i don’t see any difference, just the regular moisturizer is enough for me or i’ll wake up looking like an oil slick, or even worse with a pimple.
i personally don’t believe in needing 2 different creams/lotions for the face for night and day. i just use my Olay Moisturizing Complete (even though it has SPF) 2x/day and it works to keep my face hydrated day and night! i agree w/ someone above who noted that getting good sleep and drinking lots of water should help on it’s own in reviving your skin.
I do believe in using something separate for night and day, mainly because I want some SPF for day only. I LOVE Neutrogena’s Anti-wrinkle intensive night cream, it’s very light and not oily at all, but feels very moisturizing. I HIGHLY HIGHLY recommend this. I have an oily t-zone but dry patchy skin elsewhere, in late 20’s, have hyperpigmentation, uneven skintone, and the occasional zit. This has never broken me out and has visibly improved my skin’s texture and appearance. The biggest plus is that it’s CHEAP compared to high end brands.
I usually use Clinique Moisture Surge at night. It seems to go on pretty heavy, but soaks in while I’m sleeping and I wake up with fabulous soft skin. I tend to be oily in some spots, but the Moisture Surge doesn’t break me out. I also love that I can use it around my eyes, no special eye cream needed!
I use a lighter moisturizer during the day, under makeup.
For the past few days, I have been trying Philosophy’s Hope in a Jar at night (got the giant sample at Sephora). I don’t really like it as much, maybe better for daytime. It does leave my skin soft and not greasy, but I can’t use it around my eyes, and it soaks in quickly. At night I do prefer the heavier, moister feeling.
(Due to severe allergies, I run the central air pretty much year-round, and that is very drying to my skin.)
I’ve got a huge sample of Lancome’s Renergie Cream (GWP) and I like it a lot as a night cream! It’s a bit heavy at first, yet absorbes quickly and does wonders for wrinkles! In the morning I have smooth, clear and even face! Good deal.:)
Moisurizer is important for skin, even if you have oily skin. Your skin produces MORE oil when it feels too dry, so skipping moisturizer because you have oily skin is not always the best idea. I only differentiate between day and night creams because my day cream has an SPF in it and I don’t like to wear that to bed. Night creams are often expensive, but honestly you get what you pay for. If you cheap out on a night cream, you are going to get something like vaseline that does not absorb properly. I also live in a very dry climate (Calgay, AB, Canada, just east of the Rockies), so I need intensive moisture at night so I don’t wake up with flaking skin which I cannot put make up over.
I also use an eye cream at night (same one for day) because I like to wear eye make-up most days, and even though I am only 22, the skin around the eyes is so sensitive and putting make up on them everyday and then removing it every night can wreak havoc on the skin around the eyes over time. Its better to catch the problem before it is too late!
Cosmetics sales people have told me that oily skin produces more oil when a moisturizer isn’t used. My dermatologist disagrees, but hey, to each her own.
I have been using a night cream by nivea for a while now as I have some fine lines around my eyes and mouth and forehead. So far I haven’t noticed any difference! Can anyone suggest a good one for fine lines? I’m 18 and I have oily skin. 🙂
I really really love La prarie cellular night cream (I think that’s what it’s called. Mine’s letters have all scratched off). I makes my skin feel so wonderful and you only need a teensy little bit for the whole face and neck!
A con is that it is quite expensive though 🙁 about $200 US I think. I was lucky and won an auction on eBay, got it for only $80 AUS 😀
my skin craves moisture,so it’s a must for me..
I’m never without! i love Shiseido Advanced Bio Performance; in winter YSL Temps Majeur (super expensve but well worth): I always apply serum before my creams. I have combo skin that gets greasy in summer therefore during daytime I have to wear lightweight stuff.. but at night I give my skin super nutrition and moisture! and i look like 10 years younger!
I use Aqua Gel Hydrator from NARS. It’s not really a night creme 🙂
I started becoming really tight about my skincare routine and now I am religious about eye cream, day cream, SPF and NIGHT CREAM.
I use the one from neo strata and it’s awesome. It’s got either glycolic or salicylic acid in it (ahh i cant remember which).
Anyways, I wake up looking well rested. It really does make a difference. I’m 27 and I started noticing some fine lines around my eyes, I’m into my 5th month of using eyecream (I started using the one from clinique and now I use strivectin) and I’m noticing a smoother eye contour area.
I think good skincare really makes a huge difference.
too heavy, make me breakout!
