I love the fast drying and the special effect and I hate the fact that they lose its matte-ness after a couple of hours.
not a fan – if a nail polish tells me I can’t use lotion while it’s on my nails I won’t even bother trying it.
You can’t use lotion!? 😮
you can use lotion but it will lessen the matte effect, lotions make matte nail polishes shiny.
I only have one, an almost-black from Zoya, and I happen to be wearing it right now.
I like the matte look, but not enough to get tons of mattes because I don’t like that they chip more easily, and that I lost the matte-ness if I put on a top coat. (I should get a matte top coat, I guess).
I like that they dry so quickly.
Should I talk about matte nail polish or anti-aging products?

I don’t like how they chip very quickly though..
I tried a black nail polish with a matte-topcoat only on half a nail diagonally. It created a nice effect 😀
I only have a matte top coat but the end result is the same: matte nails. I love that it dries faster than glossy top coat but I hate that I have to re-do it after 2 days max because the matteness is gone.
I’m on the fence about matte polishes though. With the matte top coat I at least have the choice between going matte or going glossy, no matter what polish I’d like to wear.
Foregoing matte polishes, am I missing something?
I don’t like and don’t own matte nailpolish. To me nailpolish needs to be shimmery and shiny. 🙂

I’m actually wearing You Don’t Know Jacques from OPI right now! I LOVE the matte effect; it’s very unique and stylish. But I can’t stand that the matte polishes have no staying power. I literally get chips 4-6 hours after wearing :(.
I’m loving my matte topcoat. I’m dragging out old polishes and updating them with the topcoat. I don’t like that the matte effect fades after a day or so, but even the topcoat makes the polish dry faster!
I really hate matte nail polishes, they usually end up looking and feeling like chalk boards blehhh. Plus no one is going to notice dull nails! Shine is a must for nails, makes them look healthy =) My bf hates them so why bother? lol

Never used it. I’m not much of a beast for nailcare, since I bite mine AWFULLY.
You know I’m a nail biter too. The only thing that keeps me from nibbling them off is painting them!
I wanted to love them, I really did. But after trying a couple, it just made my nails look… dead. Something about a nice shiny top coat makes them look so much healthier.
I have Orly’s matte black and the matte top coat,and I love it.It makes my great nail polishes even better,and mattes aren’t a common thing around here:D
Awesome look. Horrible durability. More of a “dress up” thing for me than a wear around town thing.
i love the idea of a matte finish on the nails. i had a matte topcoat in high and used the entire bottle. but seems like no one has found a way to really put a matte finish in polish. if you use lotion the effect is ruined and matte polishes tend not to last very long on the nail. lucky if it survives the day. i look forward to the day some company perfects it.
I love matte nail polish! I think it’s really something else, more unique. I actually love suede-looking mattes even more, they’re gorgeous. To extend your wear I was given the great tip to apply a glossy topcoat on top of your matte nail polish and then finish it with a matte top coat. In that way your polish will survive more than just one day 😉
that sounds like a lot of unnecessary layers of nailpolish.
I love the look of matte nail polish, especially some of Zoya’s, but they’re just way too chiptastic and high maintenance for me to wear.
I just love that there are options in finish – If you don’t want the shine. I like matte polish, I think it can look really cool but I agree with everyone else too – I wish it stayed matte longer.
The chipping I don’t mind so much myself because I pretty much only wear black, silver or white polish and I think those look cool when they chip 🙂
I loooooove matte with chrome Konad, the contrast of the finishes makes the nail very striking and visually interesting. I dislike how fast mattes chip/lose their matteness, but since I like polishing my nails often, I don’t mind tooo much.
It depends on the brand.
I have OPI for Sephora’s What’s a Tire Jack? and I love it, it’s easily my go-to polish for when I’m feeling lazy and don’t want to apply a topcoat. It stays for few days without chipping, as well.
I also have MAC’s Studded from Riveting and it chipped the same day! I love the color and the finish, but it was so chippy I only kept it on for two days. I usually wear my polishes for up to a week. Pretty disappointed in Studded.
Love: Unique look, especially shades like OPI-La Paz-itively hot and Zoya – Posh which have this incredible glow, and You Don’t Know Jacques! which looks so chic.
Love the fast dry time and opacity.
Hate: That the matte finish doesn’t last as it picks up oils throughout the day. :c(
Hate that every company tried to jump on the matte band wagon so fast that we were bombarded with mattes and now everyone is over them. I wish we got them in smaller doses so we didn’t get “matted-out”
Hate when a shade is supposed to be matte, but actually finishes semi-matte, making it look satiny. I like it very, very matte. GO MATTE OR GO HOME!

Lasts maybe 2 days on me if im lucky, looks kool, but easily chips away.
I only own Zoya matte polishes, but I really like them. I only keep them on for 2-3 days because that is when the matte effect wears off my nails.
Not for me. I gave it a shot and loved that it dried so quickly. It looked like I painted my nails with a sharpie marker or something. Don’t like it.
I have to apply and reapply hand cream throughout the day, so I can’t use the matte nail polish, even if I wanted to. Funny thing is, I don’t like the matte finish at all. I love the shiny finish of nail polish!
I love mattes! They dry superfast. They look amazing. I don’t recognize what Linda said that they lose their matte-ness after a couple of hours. Mattes are great!
I don’t like them, I had one bottle and literally threw it away I would never buy again.
Hate it. It looks weird on my short stubby nails.
i LOVE the fact that they dry quick, but the thing i hate about them is that most colors show the ridges on my nails and some of them apply a little streaky so you have to be careful on the application. the matte finish doesnt bother me however because i can just put a top coat on and make it shiny, (which i usually do anyway)
I don’t use matte polishes because of the quick wear, but I love the topcoats! I usually use my normal seche routine, but then add the matte top and it lasts MUCH longer!

I absolutely adore how they look but I’m so disappointed of HOW quick they chip 🙁 They start chipping after few hours 🙁
I like the way it looks when it is truly matte, like Manglaze’s Mattastrophe and OPI Matte Alpine Snow.
I don’t like the fact that is chips in less than a day, I can’t use lotions (insert confused face here. Lol) and after a while its no longer truely matte, but turns to a satin finish.

I love the matte look, specially with glitters polishes (I am a nail polish junkie, seriously) but only when it’s flawless. Except for the very cool look that the new matte top coat by Manglaze gives you
As much as I adore glitter, I love matte nailpolish. I’ve loved it every time it’s been back for the last 20 years. It’s just so weird and different. 🙂 And in reds and pinks, it reminds me of candy.
it dries so quickly! Great if you want to run out the door, bad if you’re having application issues…
L.A. Girl Came up with matte nail polish too and it dosent chip! It lasted on me like 5 days w/o chip .. And its soo cheap.. But it does become satiny at the end of 5 days,,
I LOVE the fast drying time, and of course, like everyone else hate that they chip so dang fast! I mean they chip within the same day as painting, most times. UGH!
I like matte polishes with shimmer/glitter. It has a nice effect. All matte polishes with no shimmer are too dull for me :-/
I dont have any matte polishes I just use Essie MAY if I want a matte finish.
Yuck! Matte is gross, just like matte skin. There needs to be some shine or sign of life in it.
Easy chipping is a deal breaker for me. I don’t care how cool it looks. Matte polishes will not be getting my business. I did, however, order the Illamasqua pastels from the UK. Didn’t want to take the chance of not being able to get them. 😀
I’ve just never found the idea of matte polish at all appealing. My mind just likes nail polish to be shiny… this is one trend I’ve completely avoided.

I hate how it doesn’t last and drys sooo fast. Its just hard to work with 🙁
I have OPI Matte in Russian Navy…I like it…definitely a different look. I think it looks best on short fingernails.
I love using a shiny polish on the tips and the rest matte for a mono chromatic french. This looks stunning with Rescue Beauty Lounge Killa Red.
i love them! they look so classy when nails are short and shiny. i really hope they stay in for awhile.
Just google image searched matte nail polish and i have been thinking of just colors without any shimmer, so i love those!!

Tried it once and hated it. Some nail POLISH.
I don’t own any and don’t really plan to. I don’t like the look of matte nail polish by itself. In the pictures I have seen online, I think it’s really pretty when worn with a topcoat. However, I don’t think it’s really worth buying a matte nail polish simply to add a topcoat to change its look.
I like the fast drying aspect of it and it can look quite chic depending on the colour. What I hate about it is that it turns into a satin finish within a few days.

i don’t like that they tend to be thing n dont look as smooth and that i have to reapply it a few hours later to keep that really matte look

I don’t think I’ll be buying any matte polish…ever. I am too in love with China Glaze and their shiny pretty colors. I’m looking forward to trying the Pastel Illamasqua polishes =)
I like shiny nails the end
I like the way the matte finish looks. I am totally into them and I’ve been recently buying only mattes. The first one I ever bought was Metro Chic from Sephora. I just recently bought two mattes from Sally Hansen. Love love the matte polishes that have gray and purple undertones A LOT. And it looks great on short nails like mine. I love matte polishes.
I absolutely LOVE LOVE LOVE matte nail polish!! It’s the best thing ever!! My ALL TIME FAVE is China Glaze’s FROSTBITE, with a matte top coat, IT’S TO DIE FOR!!!
Nope. Not loving it at all. I like my nails to look super shiny, that even when the polish is dry, is must still look wet, so shiny it is! 🙂
In a neutral shade like Urban Outfitters Matte Nude 3, the matte effect is AMAZING. But be carefull! In some colors the polish just looks sloppy and dull. Best thing to do, though, is to take a risk and try ’em out.
I’m not so fond of them, I find that when they dry the streaks left by the brush become so obvious! I’m more of a lacquer/satin person. No sparkles, etc either!

I pretty much only own matte nail polish; as well as lipstick almost. Matte just looks so unusual and in my opinion classy and basic. I like basic nails because you don’t have to worry about outfit clashing.
