Prom 2008: Vibrant Teal & Purple Dresses & Makeup

It’s prom season, and I’ve been getting more and more requests on what to do makeup-wise! If you know me, you know I’m an advocate of coordinating your eye makeup with your clothes, and the dress is no exception.

This vibrant multi-colored dress should help inspire you when thinking of appropriate makeup to pair it with. I love the idea of doing a mermaid inspired eye (#2 shown) with a purple twist (perhaps having some Parfait Amour or Contrast eyeshadow in the outer crease/lid). But because the gown has so much blue and purple, you can easily opt for an all-purple eye or even all-teal eye. To downplay the colors, you can go for a subtle smoky eye that has a little bit of blue or purple accents to help tie everything together.

Check out details for the looks suggested: one, two, three. Dress is available at Nordstrom.com for $286.00.

i’m loving this Christine! featuring a dress and linking it to “suggested looks” that you’ve done before that would compliment/ complete the overall look.

this is a great inclusion to your blog! i look forward to more : )

Same Sash! Except I got my make-up professionally done…. But I wasn’t happy with it! I feel like I could do a better job on it now than I had for prom 2 years ago 🙁

This feature is awesome Christine! I’m sure many girls will get loads of ideas from your suggestions! Have you posted all these looks in the site already? I love the last look – the teal smoky one. Can we see a tutorial on that, if possible? Thank you 😀

Oh man, that dress is so gorgeous! I love the dip-dye thing that’s in right now! I love two tone things!! I love the three eye looks too! I think I would go with a purple one, like the top one, or the bottom. It would accent the dress best since there’s less purple on the dress! FABULOUS!

Great feature Christine!!! I remember that I did my own makeup but wasn’t the owner of a good foundation, so I was really pink cheeked when it finished…and the dress??? God what was I thinking of??? Hahaha…well at least this will help girls inspire themselves and make (hopefully) a better choice than mine!!! :p

I love this idea of combining looks with the ‘prom’ dresses! My make up was boring when it was my prom years ago, but it will be a different story when it comes to me graduation ball! Thanks Christine 🙂

What would you recommend for being a bridesmaid with a purple dress? I love doing dark purple smokey-ish eyes, but I’m not sure if that would be too dramatic. The wedding is at night though…
