Pop-up Color with Teal
Pop-up Color with Teal
I was totally going to do a neutral look, but I was wearing a teal shirt… so one thing led to another and I ended up going for subtle color. Is it really only Tuesday? I feel like it should be Friday already! No, seriously… 🙂
You will need the following…
- Eyes: MAC Soft Ochre Paint Pot (neutral beige base), MAC Indianwood Paint Pot (dark gold), MAC Nylon Eyeshadow (white-gold), MAC Patina Eyeshadow (antique gold), MAC Bottle Green Eyeshadow (matte blue-green), MAC Satin Taupe Eyeshadow (dark brown), MAC Ricepaper Eyeshadow (neutral highlighter), Make Up For Ever #20L Aqua Eye Liner (forest green), MAC Plushlash Mascara (black)
- Face: Korres Tinted Moisturizer (#2)
- Cheeks: Benefit Sugarbomb (soft beige-pink)
- Lips: Guerlain Gardenia Rouge G Lipstick (pink nude), MAC Gold Dust Lipglass (sheer orange-gold)
- Brushes: 226 (fluffy crease brush), 219 (pointed crease brush), 249 (flat, firm brush), 239 (fluffy shadow brush), 116 (dense blush brush)
- Substitutes: N/A
For eyes, start by applying Soft Ochre paint pot as your eyeshadow base all over the eye area with the 249. Next, apply a secondary base of Indianwood paint pot on the lid only. Using the 239, apply Nylon eyeshadow on the inner third of the eyelid. Next, apply Patina eyeshadow on the middle third of the eyelid and lightly blend with the inner corner. Darken the outer third of the lid with Humid eyeshadow with the 239, gently brushing it into the lower crease. Apply Bottle Green eyeshadow into the outer crease with the 226. Lightly tap and brush Nylon eyeshadow directly above the crease to soften. To finish the eyeshadow look, sweep Ricepaper eyeshadow as a highlighter on the brow bone. Bring everything together by applying #20L eyeliner on the lower lash line and sweeping lashes with Plushlash mascara.
For cheeks, apply Sugarbomb blush to the apples of the cheeks and sweep upwards towards the temple with the 116.
For lips, apply Gardenia lipstick first, and then layer Gold Dust lipglass for a complementing lip.
this is my favorite look that I’ve seen on you! I love everything you do, of course 😉 lol but this actually makes me feel like I could do a teal! LOVE
Aww! Thanks, Brooke!
one word. gorgeous.
Thanks, Alia!
Pretty. Too bad you don’t have any subs but I know that Bottle Green is just like Plummage (it looks the same on darker skin). I don’t have Patina but I’ve swatched in the store and it doesn’t look bronzy on me :0(
Bottle Green is permanent! I only list substitutes for limited edition shades 🙂
Is Bottle Green pro?
Yes.
You look gorgeous!! I love the teal with the neutral and your lips look fab. And the cheeks look natural and really pull the whole look together. Great job!
Yay! So happy you liked it, Jane 🙂 Thanks!
Looks fantastic! I’m happy to see a look featuring Patina, which is always a go-to colour for me in a variety of looks. And you’re right- it does go really well with that shirt 🙂
Thanks so much, KFM! I like Patina, but I love Rye even more (have you seen that one?) – wish MAC would bring it back!
Hm… Can’t say as I have seen Rye, although if it’s in that family, I really wish I had!
Sigh, Rye is amazzinggg!!
I love this neutral eye with a pop of colour. I am going to have to look in my collection to see if I can reproduce this eye look.
Very pretty on you!
Thank you, Christina!
I really like this look. Green looks great on you!
Thank you, Linda! 🙂
FOREST FAIRY!!!! So pretty, love the neutrals with a pop of color, great forest color liner and shadows!!! Will also try this one, thanks for the tip.
LOL! That’s a cute name for it 😉
Thanks!
Very nice! It match your shirt perfectly. I like that it have a pop of color but also wearable to school/work.
Thanks a lot, T!
I really like this look! Love the splash of colour with the neutrals! 🙂
Thank ya!
Can you please do a review on Korres tinted moisturizer? I’d be so grateful. <3

Wow! Today we wear the same colors! 🙂 Actually my look is more orange, however I used: Copper sparkle pigment in the inner corner, Tan pigment in the middle of the lid, a dark green in the crease (of an Italian brand, Pupa, I don’t know if you ever heard about it). Under the eyes, in the inner corner I blended YSL poudre givree n. 3 and Lancome ink artliner in Pop petrol+the dark green eye shadow in the outer corner. For lips, Guerlain Rouge G in Gems (LE Winter 2009). Hope you like it as I like your looks! 😉
How fun!! 🙂 Your look sounds gorgeous! I’ve heard of Pupa, but only from readers like yourself, unfortunately!
Very pretty!
Thank you, Z!
Stunning Christine. I will be buying the Guerlain lipstick!
Thanks, Tasmin! It’s a very nice nude!
you look pretty!! i wish i looked good in teals, but sadly i dont haha.
Thanks, Jess!
Aww, no way!
Looks fab on you Christine! Can you think of less shimmery version of Patina? I would love to go and try the look, but with less shimmer.
Thanks, Natalie! I can’t think of anything less shimmery, to be honest…
These warm colors are so complimentary on you. There’s something about teal mixed with golds that always makes me think of summer.
Thanks so much, Eileen 🙂
I love this look, especially the green liner. I think I have a GOSH liner in similar colour, need to check it actually, and recreate this look soon! 🙂
Thanks, Anita! I loveee forest green liners!
i love you lipssssss~~~~~~sooo sexyyy….:)
Thanks!
This is gorgeous!!!!! 🙂 I’m so recreating this look on me 😉
Oh, I hope you do! Thanks, Shannon!
beautiful look
Thanks so much, Steffi!
This is beautiful 🙂 I really like how you used the colors, it’s different from what I’ve seen lately.
Thanks a lot, Jenny!
Very, very pretty. Those colors suit you so well. Especially loving the liner and the lips. BTW I purchased MAC for the first time yeaterday. Eyeshadow: Coppering, Goldmine, and Creme de Violet. Also Lychee Luxe lipglass.
Thank you! 🙂
AWW, yay! Congrats on your first MAC purchase! I hope you enjoy… do let me know!
Very fun, but I do think I could pull this off at work. Will have to give it a try sometime soon! I might have to go back for Gold Dust lipglass, too – really pretty layering color 🙂
Yay!! Hope you’ll try it. Thanks, Daphne!
Christine, this is probably one of the prettiest looks you’ve done ! I loved it, I’m always so unsure of greens, now I have an inspiration !!!
Thanks so much, Claudia!
Gorgeous!
Thanks, Tami!
I love this! Green and gold look so pretty together. 🙂
Aw, thank you!
Ooh green really makes your eyes pop. You’re so pretty! Gorgeous as always, and I’m going to have to try this for myself!
Thanks so much, Christina!
Oh, that’s beautiful! I actually did something kinda similar today, lol- I used indiandwood, nylon, soba, and humid. The green liner you used is super pretty though- it really brought out your eyecolor. I never think to put colored liner on my waterlines- just the same boring black. 🙂
Awesome! 🙂
I loveee forest green liner, haha.
I love this look! I do a smiliar one with neutrals on the lid Smashbox halo shadows and then teal gel liner on the lower waterline and over that mermaid green nyx shadow or Loreal Hip liner in Blue Spark! Gorgeous!
Thank you so much!! 🙂
loves it!
Thanks, Summer!
Love it!
Thanks, Lili!
love the look! I just got Patina for the first time the other day & it is a really great color! 🙂
Isn’t it? So pretty!
Thanks, Andrea!
Thanks, Andrea! Patina is great 🙂
Wow, this look is gorgeous!
By far one of my favorite looks from you! Keep doing your makeup thang, Christine. Hahaha 😉
Thanks a lot, Maggie 😀
Love this look on you!
Thank you, Cindy!
LOVE THIS LOOK! So beautiful! I love a wearable green 🙂
And dont worry, I too thought today felt like a Friday and was totally bummed to note it was only Tuesday… blarrrrgghhh.
Thanks, Cherie! Phew, glad I’m not the only one…
I’ve never seen bottle green before but now you’ve made me want to go and check out the pro store. I don’t need a pro card to shop there, right?
Nope, you don’t! 🙂
Love it! You look so gorgeous.
Thanks, Nene! 🙂
Subdued but not boring! Wonderful look! 24×7 doesn’t have a liner close to this kind of green, does it?
Thanks, Aida! Nope, unfortunately they don’t.
you look great with that look!!! as always…
Thank you so much, Luisafer 😀
Christine this is very beautiful but I do have a question. In the video you say you are using Satin Taupe for the outer corner and bottle green in the crease. Yet up above here you don’t mention Satin Taupe. I’m really not nitpicking I just want to make sure I didn’t miss anything! lol! Thanks!
That just means I remembered wrong 🙁
Hi Christine! This is my favorite look on you. You look simply stunning. I love green bottle but I can’t find it on their website. Are you sure is a permanent color? If not, do you know where I can buy it?
It’s a PRO color 🙂
This is an amazing look. I’m going to try this out asap!
Thanks, Megan!
Christine this is fricken amazing! The green is beautiful and this is BY FAR the most fabulous look I have seen on you. But I was woundering if bottle green was le or is it still availible? I just dont think I have ever seen that color.
Thanks, Ryan!
It’s a permament PRO color 🙂
I ADORE THIS!! Copying for my look tomorrow. 🙂
Thank you!
I love this. I feel like bottle green is only available on the pro website as a pan refil or something like that but when you go through the colors they have on the site bottle green is not one of them….figures the one color everyone wants but has a hard time finding.
THanks, Bettina! I think PRO discontinued the PRO only shades in pot form, unfortunately!
I LOVE YOUR EYEBROWS!
and this look is amazing btw! :]
Thanks, Pontip!

Yes!
I”m a bit weirded out. No word of a lie I did this exact look today same MAC colors and MUFE eyeliner. What are the chances!!! You look gorgeous as usually 🙂
Aww! Great minds think alike 🙂
Just gorgeous. One of my total favourite looks for you. You look absolutely STUNNING!
Oh, wow! Thanks, Hilana!
this looks so so pretty! i love the color combination!
Thank you, Blusherine!
Gorgeous!! I really love this – neutrals with an unexpected but still understated kick!
Thanks a lot, Catherine!
This look is gorgeous! Maybe my favorite look of yours since I’ve been following your blog. I’m going to have to pick up that MUFE eyeliner ASAP.
Thanks a lot, KG!
Simply beautiful!
Thanks so much, Leeny!
I really love when you do a neutral with a pop of color. This looks fantastic!
Thanks, Chrystie!
Is Bottle Green LE/discontinued? They don’t have it on the UK Mac site or in the shop 🙁
I believe it is PRO.
Ooh, this looks wonderful! I’ve been looking for the perfect teal shadow (all the shadows I find labeled as teal aren’t as green as I’d like), so I’ll be sure to try Bottle Green. 🙂 Is the paint pot base what gave the Bottle Green that nice, shimmery sheen?
Yep, it’s the base – Bottle Green is matte on its own!
Sorry to double post! I was wondering, could I use a powder shimmery shadow as the base for the Bottle Green instead of a paint pot? I’m asking because I already have a pale gold shadow and I’m afraid the paint pot would dry out considering I don’t think I’d use it often..
P.S. the golds and the teals look incredible with your eye color and dark hair!!
Yep!! 🙂
This look works for you in soooo many ways – great great great
Thanks, Fresh!
this is so beautiful… it’s my favourite look by you! great job!
Thank you, Maya!
