OCC Pond Nail Lacquer Review, Photos, Swatches

Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics Pond Nail Lacquer ($10.00 for 0.50 fl. oz.) is described as a “true royal blue” with a satin finish. It’s a bold, royal blue cream; very rich and decadent. China Glaze Manhunt is darker and slightly jelly-like. Zoya Song is a bit darker, and it has a lot of shimmer. MAC Breezy Blue is purpler. Illamasqua Force is similar in color but not quite as bright. Deborah Lipmann I Know What Boys Like is darker. Essie Declare Your Denim is bluer, not as bright.

This is an incredibly pigment-rich formula; nearly one coat is fully opaque, but I felt like the texture looked best (dense, plush, and lightly shiny) with two coats, so I’d still recommend two coats.  For reference, I left my pinky fingernail with only one coat of product, so you can see the opacity.  The consistency isn’t too thick or too thin, but it is on the thicker side.  It flowed well over the nail, and I didn’t have any problems with the polish streaking or pooling along the edges.  I typically get a week of wear with minor tip wear but no chipping with OCC’s formula.

GORGEOUS. Perfect for spring and summer! Even though it’s bright and saturated, I’m envisioning using this color much like a neutral… basically, I’m gonna go wild and pair this blue with everything!

I have never seen such a true Royal blue ever, most of them either have a purple, black base or shimmer. This is like finding a true red lipstick! Thanks Christine, I am SOLD!

Hi! We have the same name. It was so weird, I was looking through these comments, saw yours and thought “When did I say that?” But then I remembered that I go by my nickname on here. 🙂

This is gorgeous! I’ve been looking for a true, bright Yves Klein blue since Rescue Beauty Lounge released their last fan collection and the blue one called IKB:2012 sold out super quickly. Hopefully this one can tide me over until something brighter comes along! =)

POND IS TARDIS BLUE! AHHHH!

I don’t wear nail polishes on my fingers because I’m a horrible nail biter but my toes need this asap holy cow

Oooh, I might have to get this when I’m in the US in April! So pretty! Am I the only one that wants it more because it is called Pond and is Tardis Blue-ish?

A Dr. Who inspired nail polish? YES PLEASE!!

I am IN LOVE with this collection. Finally a makeup company puts out a line with a science fiction theme. I can’t wait to see more reviews from the Sci-Fi Lullabies collection. I think I hear all of my money flying out of my wallet! lol

Have you checked out Cult Nails? They had a Super Powers Collection and their Time Traveller nail polish is amazing! So glossy and blue 😀

You know, I was on SUCH a hunt for a good cobalt “Cleopatra” blue, and I ended up getting Essie’s Butler Please. I think it might be reeeeally similar, if not a dupe. I wore it all last week and got a ton of compliments. The prices are equivalent, but for most the Essie nps are easier to find in stores.
