I agree! The palette looks nice enough but I doubt I’ll buy it (unless Christine’s swatches change my mind.) But it is STUNNING on the darker skinned model.

I love this collection. This mini looks like it would pair good with the mini retro, the highlighter is gorgeous and now looking at the lip swatches Maria is tempting. I’m definitely grabbing the palette and possibly the highlighter.

Hey, finally a Natasha Denona product that I actually might purchase (eye shadow) . I know I’m a rarity here, but $50-$100 for makeup that will last 2 years max before hygiene experts recommend tossing it–seems a bad bargain to me.

I’m never using highlighter, because at my age, the only thing it highlights is wrinkles. And the lipsticks look like my normal, daytime wear lipstick.

But I really like the shadow palette. And anyone who has the imagination to create a palette in something other than red/pink/green or even less inventive black/silver/gold, for NYE needs to get some kudos for that. Also, the one color I probably won’t use much of, Dazz, can probably be used with some beige shade as blush. Waste not, want not.

I can’t believe OPI has already released most of its Holiday 2020 nail shades, bypassing my 2 favorites holidays. ?

I know there are people saying one should only use products for 18-24 months. I never follow that advise. I toss eyeshadows when they change, either in how they look or if the start to smell differently than they did when they were new, or if the texture has changed. I have never had any problem using old-ish eyeshadows. I keep my brushes clean and rarely, if ever use my fingers.

Anyone else not caring about expiration dates on eyeshadows?

And, yes the palette looks really very nice, I kind of want it.

Totally agree. Straight powder is very long lived. Add a ‘cream’ ingredient and it goes bad quite quickly. Gels dry out almost immediately. Slurries, too. Think CP SSS, even if they’re kept ultra tight. And those swell Butter London shadows that crapped out in ~3 mos. For ND, only have mini retro, so cannot judge. Seeing instore (remember that?) I would suspect that some deteriorate easily…they had in the display. You are absolutely correct about clean brushes and no fingers. I’d bet any shadow with finger app recommended has a short shelf life.

I don’t care. I have kept palettes for many years. I have not experienced any negative repercussions (I’ve experienced far more sensitivity issues with lash serums). As you mention, Helene, if the shadow hardens, changes colour, or smells funky, it gets tossed. My dogs sneak lick my face despite my best efforts not to allow them. I do not live in a bubble. No disrespect to people more discerning than me.

I think both Rhonda and Helene have a point. Hygiene experts are playing it safe with the 2 years max guideline bc they’re not thinking of the careful beauty enthusiast who would know how to extend the shelf life of their collection. Hygiene experts think of the average consumer: someone too busy with real life and can’t bother with pesky things like:

a) using only clean makeup applicators (bc not everyone makes time to actually wash brushes daily)
b) properly storing makeup away in cool, dry, dark place (i.e., NOT in the bathroom or NOT on a vanity surface near a window with natural lighting)
c) inspecting their own makeup periodically for any changes, especially if they don’t have bright lighting where they apply makeup or need reading glasses to see up close.
d) know the nature of certain ingredients and how it can or can’t change over time. Minerals will last forever but certain emollients can evaporate (volatile silicones) or go rancid (caprylic triglyceride, squalane, etc.).

I don’t know if it’s the lighting being weird in the promo pics but I’m not getting “bronze” at all from this palette? It looks nice enough but maybe a bit too similar to Retro? I was hoping she would release an actual mini Bronze palette actually…
