NARS Spring 2012: Paramaribo Eyeshadow Duo

NARS Paramaribo Eyeshadow Duo ($34.00 for 0.14 oz.) is described as “metallic shades of brass and bronze.” For whatever reason, this is one of the few limited edition shades for spring, which is totally too bad–it’s a gorgeous product and my favorite from the spring collection.

The first shade is a rich golden brass with a metallic-frost finish. It’s really smooth, opaque, and easy to work with. The way it binds together makes for a really adhesive, longer-wearing product, too. Make Up For Ever #11 is less golden in a way. OCC Cruising is darker, less yellow. Le Metier de Beaute Chameleon is browner. It also reminded me of the golden tones from MAC Golden Gaze. Urban Decay Rush is much browner.

The second shade is a softened bronze-shimmered brown. This shade is extremely soft and finely-milled, so it feels like silk against the skin and melts like butter once applied. Urban Decay Rush is not quite as dark. Giorgio Armani Khaki Pulse is less warm-toned. MAC Romp is more orange-toned. Urban Decay Deeper is similar. Urban Decay Smog is slightly less golden shimmered.

This eyeshadow formula is supposed to be crease-resistant, long-wearing, and highly pigmented.  Without a primer, they do look a little faded and have minor, but noticeable, creasing after eight hours of wear.  I don’t encounter those problems, typically, over a primer.  Some of the lighter, more powdery shades do fade a bit over a primer, but neither of these shades are like that.  The powders for both shades really bind together well, so they adhere better to the skin.

I just wish the second shade was darker and maybe a little less shimmery. But still a very nice duo – I might get it anyway…
Thx for the review Christine!

I thought of Star Sailor when I saw this too! I also have SS, but that won’t stop me from getting this one as well. Resistance (against gold/bronze/olive eyeshadow) is futile.

Oh HELL yes. Definitely will be picking this one u. I’m a sucker for those olive/brown/bronze shades, and this one looks like a beauty.

Thank you so much for the swatches, and the enabling. =)

This is the one I want, too. I don’t think I’ll buy anything else, so I’m saving my pennies for when it shows up at Sephora. I’m on a green/bronze kick since I can’t buy Rouge Bunny Rouge Abyssinian Catbird yet.

It looks so boring in the pan but the swatches are gorgeous! I totally wasn’t impressed when I saw post here earlier introducting the NARS spring/summer collection as I thought it looked quite dull but each of the individual products that have been featured have looked lovely.

I’m in love!!! I just cannot resist these kind of gorgeous antique gold shades. I have sooo many yet somehow there is always room for one more. Arrrgh… I need help. LOL. 🙂

Yum! But… I wouldn’t wear these together and my stash of Nars golds, and because of ES doubles with bronzes, is getting to pathological. How do these dupe within the brand?
Nars will still be getting plenty of my money- but the gold looks a lot like Etrusque, and a second one is silly when there’s so many other fabulous things in this collection and then the Summer Laguna Stash to start hoarding. It was a high of 70 here today.
I bet I already have this, just in separate cases. More $ towards The Bento Box.

Hi Christine, do you have any information on whether this collection would be available at any other retailer? (Nordstrom, Sephora, etc). Thanks in advance! 🙂
