NARS Exotic Dance Eyeshadow Duo
NARS Summer 2011: Exotic Dance Eyeshadow Duo
NARS Exotic Dance Eyeshadow Duo ($33.00 for 0.14 oz.) is described as a “metallic white silver sheen and metallic gold.” It’s a duo of a bright snow white with a metallic sheen that’s not quite 100% opaque and a darkened, metallic bronzed gold, which applies smoothly and has nice color payoff. It’s kind of like a cooler-toned version of Key Largo. The white seems similar in color to the white from the Cleo duo, but the one in Exotic Dance has a more metallic finish.
The texture of the darker shade is lovely–very smooth, soft, and applies evenly. The lighter white shade has a few sheerer patches when applied and needs to be patted on for more even application. NARS’ eyeshadows are supposed to be long-wearing and crease-resistant. When I wear them alone, I tend to get around seven to eight hours of wear before there is a faint amount of creasing, so it’s pretty good and isn’t a huge mess, but I’d recommend a primer for all-day wear (especially for those with oilier lids). As far as NARS eyeshadows go, their duos are your best bang for your buck. Most individual eyeshadows from high-end brands are 0.05 oz. on average, while these almost equal out to three of those for $33.

Can you do an eye look with this? 🙂
Not bad, but not that unique either. It’s kinda boring. :-/
I agree. I think I’ll just get Key Largo if they are similar.
I find this to be an odd, uninspiring duo.
meh…
The shadows looks really nice, but sort of common. Plus, I’m really mad at NARS for releasing that monstrosity of a glitter… thing… and I haven’t quite forgiven them yet.
This is a really gorgeous duo.
I adore the name. “Exotic Dance” =D
My color sense is pretty horrified by the appearance in the pan. I’m not saying it wouldn’t be lovely on but this is just like serious discord to my eyes. Oweee make the colors look friendly.. It’s like right now it’s snowing and two days ago it was 80 degrees..I need separate compartments for the two. I think my ears are
smoking like Rosie the Robot.
Not very special. Strange color combination.
I’ve enough shadows that are similar enough to these not to warrant spending that much on a duo, though there are so many other Nars shadows and duos I’m tempted to try!
This product is so lame. Half the wet n wild eyeshadows out there are better than this, for 1/10 of the price. Nars has some nice offerings sometimes, but overall I think this brand is overrated.
this duo looks really great on, actually. the gold colour is a great crease colour. I am not as crazy about the white side ( just not my personal taste usually), but the texture is like estrusque, from the autumn. they also look great layered with other shadows. I am travelling right now and only packed Dogon and Exotic Dance as my eyeshadow for 3 weeks of being away (I am Nars Ceylan in sheer glow foundation/mont blanc powder, brown eyes, auburn hair)
Would love to see this in a look, might translate a bit better. I agree that the colours look a bit disconnected in the pan, but swatched they don’t look too bad together.
This duo is really much more gorgeous in person, I so wanted to get it but I couldn’t figure out how to wear it exactly so back to the shelf it went.
Would love to see you do a look with these. They would really compliment your skin tone.
I’m sorry, but you’d have to be smoking crack to shell out $33 for something this basic. You could easily find these shades from a drugstore brand and have a bunch of money left over. Not impressed 🙁
I can’t figure out what it is about NARS but none of their products inspire any sort of passion in me. I always look at it and go ‘meh’. This was no exception!
Exotic: you’re doing it wrong.
I love this actually, I wear bronze shades on my lid and shimmery white on my brow-bone and inner eye corners almost daily. It’s a gorgeous colour combo, makes you look very awake and bright.
ya, actually this seems basic but i walked by it in sephora and it took my breath away! the texture and actually colors swatched are soooo beautiful. it’s not just white, it’s the best shimmery, almost metallic pearl white i’ve ever seen and the other one is so wonderfully gold and tan but still cool somehow, as somehow the white is cold and warm at the same time. it’s actually the eyeshadow i most want to own by nars. basically i think it would be worn as the white in inner corner and highlight and the gold crease and outer lid. just looked perfect. really have to see it in the light
