One of the softest brushes I've ever used. It shed a few hairs in the first couple of washes, but less than other brushes I've used. It's dense, but the bristles are long and flexible enough that it picks up and deposits the perfect amount of product - I use it every day with my Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powders. It holds up well to washing, and the white bristles always wash clean. The holographic lettering on Hakuhodo brush handles tends to wear off, so I've started putting a swipe of clear nail polish over the logo as soon as I get the brush.
