Haha, cute concept for a palette series.
Ok, these are CUTE! I like Earth, Water, and Air the best. Fire is pretty, but I don’t wear those colors often and it isn’t in my chart so I can pass easily. I don’t know that I need all three of the others, so depending on how they look in real swatches I might be able to narrow it down to just one or two of the palettes. I think Air is my favorite combination of colors and I don’t feel like we see too many peachy purple palettes so that may be the ultimate winner if I choose just one. Hopefully melt knocks this out of the park and the formula isn’t another flop.
I’ve heard mixed reviews about Melt! The purple palette really speaks to me as well, but I think I’ll wait to hear about the formula of it!
This is “holiday”?! How celebratory.
Since I can’t wear orange or yellow, my choices are Water or Water. Not even cool lighter shades in Air, which would’ve been theme appropriate. Hard pass with residual irritation. smh
These seem pretty outrageously priced for mini palettes. I wonder will there at least be bundle pricing?
I hate that the shade names are all negative. The color schemes are pretty if not predictable.
They are literally called “Bad Side” and have a tagline that says “Your weakness is also your greatest strength”???
As far as fitting a concept goes, the names are very apropos. It’s also on-brand for Melt to be somewhat “counterculture” and instead of the happy-sweet-saccharine palettes we usually get with holidays (think shades named “Joy,” “Peace,” “Goodwill to All,” etc. taken from holiday songs), this is something tongue-in-cheek for the cynics among us.
Definitely agree about the color schemes being pretty but predictable though!
I think one of the only redeeming aspects of astrology is that is has people look at themselves closely, critically as well as complementary as we all have positives and negatives in our personalities.
Any negative aspect of our personality could flip into a positive (or the opposite) for example being free-spirited could become flaky.
These are hilarious! I used to read these Darkside Zodiac books that were about the bad traits of each sign in dating, etc. Good fun and great color stories from Melt! My only gripe is I’m (Taurus) not an earthy color person and like the Air palette the most! But it’s my opposite so I don’t want it, which my Air sign sibling would take joy in haha.
Since I’m not into astrology, and these are outrageously priced considering Melt’s quality track record, even if I were so inclined, these are a hard pass for me.
The colors are cute, and I might have picked up earth and water if not for the terrible, terrible names. I don’t need that kind of toxic negativity!
I think Air could have leaned a little cooler to balance out the color stories (think taupe-mauve instead of berry-peach) and fit “air” as a theme better, but I don’t dislike the colors themselves together. I’m all set for colors right now, though. Starting a no-to-low-buy because I don’t play enough with what I already have!
I love these. They have a bit more spark for me then a lot of similarly themed palettes. And a sense of humour. I’m so amused by the names that I feel like I need at least one (Eyeing Water and Air). But I’ve heard mixed things about Melt’s formulas so I want to wait for reviews. I do wish Earth had more green. As it is there is too much yellow for my skintone, but I think it could be great for other people!
For once, my sign – Scorpio – is attached to the palette I’m most drawn to! I love the blues in Water, the unexpected depths and there are some neutrals to ground them as well. I might have to pick this up, will be waiting to see how it is reviewed!
I really liked these at first but the shade names make me cringe.
I’m into it! But I’ll wait for a review to decide if it is worth buying. I already have too much eyeshadow…
Those swatches are all rich and vibrant and gorgeous…and too good to be true.
I like these!
At first I felt a bit offended by Ugly Crying and Dead Inside, but then I read the text and it became loads of fun, I also really like the descriptions of the palettes. I think whoever wrote it would be a lot of fun going out for a drink with. Right now I’d take a Dr Pepper!
I think the concept with the more unique take on the zodiac signs, and the names of the shadows are hilarious and out of the box which fits Melt’s esthetic to a “Z” lol! Love the tongue in cheek humor.
These are cute! I never understood why Aquarius is an air sign (our symbol is LITERALLY a bucket of water) but I’m definitely drawn to the air palette, funnily enough.
On the positive side, it’s good to see the brand bring out quite a versatile range of palettes, featuring differing colour stories.
On the negative side, I really don’t like the names of the shades – there is enough negativity in this world already without eyeshadow shades being named after it and eyeshadows should be joyful products.
Melt’s color stories are usually so forward and interesting, these feel very… expected given the theme. These are a definite pass.
Finally, and earth sign palette that isn’t all browns! This is very Subculture-esque and I love it!
The only thing that keeps me from buying Melt is their shimmer formula… I’ve never cared for it. And for $38 for a mini palette, it alllll needs to be great.
