Looks - Wide Open Peepers with Purple Pop
You know, I had a real struggle trying to figure out the right lips for this look! I loved the eyes, though. I actually did the cheeks first, then the eyes, and left the lips for last (which is usual for me). I still wasn’t convinced this was the right lip combo, but I was at a loss as to what else instead. What would you have done?
I used Your Ladyship pigment (LE) on lid, Rose Blanc eyeshadow (LE) all over lid, Climate Blue eyeshadow (LE) on outer crease, Stars ‘n Rockets eyeshadow in crease, Parfait Amour eyeshadow on outer lid, Rose Blanc eyeshadow (LE) on lower lash line and inner crease, Shroom eyeshadow on brow, Graphblack technakohl on lower lash line, and Plushlash mascara on lashes. I had Don’t Be Shy blush (LE) on cheeks with Lightly Lilac beauty powder (PRO) to highlight. I wore Florabundi lipstick (LE) with Cult Fave lipglass (LE) on my lips.
** These are recommendations for dupes based on permanent colors available — may not necessarily be identical; they are the closest I can think of!
Your Ladyship = Vanilla; Rose Blanc = Nylon; Climate Blue = Electric Eel + Parfait Amour; Rose Blanc = Nylon; Don’t Be Shy = Well Dressed; Florabundi = Creme de la Femme; Cult Fave = Pinkarat
Pretty Christine! I think lip-wise I would have gone with a neutral, like Half N Half or something in that realm. Or, I might have done a purple-ish lipstick, like Frosti (LE from Textures collection in 2005).
Thanks, Shefali 🙂 I was thinking about trying a neutral lip, too! I started off with a light lipstick, but then I felt kind of washed out. Frosti might have been a better choice!
I keep seeing Stars ‘n’ Rockets mentioned. Where does that come from? Was it in a recent collection because I really like the look of it?
Stars n Rockets is an amazing duochrome color from MAC. Fortunately, it is in their permanent line, so you can find it at their counters and stores. =)
It’s a permanent color – I believe it came out when they released a bunch of veluxe pearls (but my memory is shoddy, I could easily be wrong, lol).
Your brows are looking flawless Christine!
Thanks, Stephanie D 🙂
I think you did a good job with the lips. Perhaps I would have chosen something a little browner, but what you did turned out beautiful. Perhaps I would have been wrong. 😉
Thanks, Trisha! I wouldn’t have thought to go browner, hmm…
OMG, I love it! And I think the lips go good with it. Now I wanna go out and buy all of these. You are responsible for turning me into a MAC addict.
Thank you!!
LOL, uh oh! 😉
Nora, Stars and Rockets is a single eyeshadow. I have it and it’s a really pretty color. You can find it on the MAC website or on Ebay.
Wonderful look as always.
Thanks, Sadie 🙂
I can see why you might be a little unsure of the lip color. I’d say something more neutrally or something more purpley. It’s cute regardless.
Thanks, Dee! I was thinking about trying something more purple, actually. Good to know you did, too!
I think the lips work although I think Funtabulous Dazzleglass might also work.
Thanks, Kobri! That would have been a good color to try!
I really like the lips! I think they look great with the look. Love the purple!!
Thanks a ton, Stephanie 🙂
Just when I think you can’t come up with a prettier look, you do! I love these shades on you. Of course it doesn’t hurt that you’re drop-dead gorgeous. 🙂
I think the lip color is perfect, by the way. Maybe Comet Blue over Pervette as an alternative?
Thanks, Kate 😛
Oh, Comet Blue over Pervette would have worked well, I think!
I like the lips! Maybe you could have played off the pale gold on the lid with a cool, pale gold gloss?
Thanks, Evangelia! That’s a good call! Wish I had thought of that, lol!
I would try it with a neutral like C-Thru. And Stars and Rockets is amazing. When you layer it over carbon it is stunning!
Thanks for this lip combo suggestion, Karen!
I think you did a great job overall …even the lips!
Another alternative take on the lips IMO would be Siss l/s with Lovechild l/g
Thanks so much, Theresa!
Ahh, yes, I think that combo would have worked well!
Love it!! SO gorgeous! That was about the color I would have suggested on the lips anyway! Great pick!!
Thanks so much, Mariah!! 😀
Odd question: but how does Climate Blue compare to Cobalt (PRO)? Thanks 😀 Beautiful look, I think the lips look fine!
It’s more purple, Cobalt is quite blue (and chalky, IIRC).
Thank you!
I think it looks lovely! I love the lip colour! 🙂
Thanks so much, Calico!
This is very pretty, love the colors. I would maybe have tried either a more purplish lip, with Nico l/g or Lull l/g LE or a soft light gold like Elaborate l/g over Frou or Gel l/s.
But I love your lip solution too.
Hey Nell!
Would you believe the first combo I had on used both Nico (well, Nico Now) and Lull? LOL, but I had a hot pink lipstick underneath it, so that might have been why it was poo-poo.
Thank you!
I think the lips work well.. they tie in nicely with the blusher you used 🙂 This looks is lovely. Soft purples look great on you!
Thanks so much, Stacey 🙂
I love this color combination.
Wonderfull!!!
Thank you, Yuumi!
Beautiful eyes! And I really like the color you chose for the lips! But as an evening look, I would have paired it with a really dark red lip.
Thanks, Veronica! Hmm, I wonder how it would have looked with a dark red lip!
This look is so pretty, love the colors. I think the lips look great
Thank you so much, Gio!
Love the eyes and love it even more when I have all the colors or at least the dupes. I think the problem with the lips is that it doesn’t go with the blush. They are just too similar. Regardless, beautiful as always!!!
Thanks, Kellie 🙂 I think that might it, too! I started with the blush (which is unusual for me), mostly because I went somewhere before I had time to do eyes, so I just did blush to look alive, LOL.
I think the lips look perfect with the eyes!
Aw, thanks, Jessica!
This is soo gorgeous!
Thanks, Vivien!
I like the lips.
Thanks, Lydia!
Oh, very pretty, Christine!
I personally don’t think I can pull off a “purple look.”
You SO could, pshhh!
