Looks - Silvery Grays and Blues
Hey all! Could you do me a favor and tell me what you think of this description format? I tried to combine what suggestions you have all given to me. In terms of majority, the more explanatory version won, and not sure if everyone saw the edit, but the explanatory version did include dupes for LE items.
Anyway, if you could let me know what you think of this description, I would appreciate it 🙂 Thanks!
You will need the following…
- Eyes: Polar Opposites mineralize eyeshadow duo (bright silver/brownish gray), Cumulus eyeshadow (blue-gray), Nylon eyeshadow (frosty white-gold), Graphblack technakohl (black), Plushlash mascara (black)
- Cheeks: Dainty mineralize blush (soft peachy pink)
- Lips: Velvet Teddy lipstick (semi-matte nude), Lust lipglass (pink with brown undertones)
- Brushes: 266 (firm, angled brush), 249 (flat, firm brush), 239 (fluffy shadow brush), 129 (dense blush brush)
- Substitutes: Polar Opposites = Electra/Copperplate; Cumulus = Moonflower;
Directions: Define brows using a coordinating powder shadow applied with the 266 brush. Apply Soft Ochre paint pot all over the lid as the base with the 249. On the inner-to-middle lid, apply Polar Opposites (solid side) using the 239. Apply Cumulus to the middle of the lid, overlaying it with Polar Opposites. Darken the outer lid using Polar Opposites (marbled side) and drag into crease using the 239. Sweep Nylon underneath the brow bone to highlight. Finish with Graphblack technakohl on lower lash line, and Plushlash mascara on lashes. Sweep apples of cheeks with Dainty using the 129. Apply Velvet Teddy lipstick to lips, and then top with Lust lipglass for color and shine.
Love the look, AND the format. Thanks for taking our suggestions into account! You are clearly a hard-working girl 🙂 Also, that lipstick looks great on you, and now I want it!!
Thanks! I’m here to make you guys happy 🙂
I’m so doing this look today! I love it!
Would you say that the 239 is the best brush to apply eyeshadow with?
Thanks, Jackie! I hope you get a chance to try this look out 🙂
Yes, I LOVE the 239 to apply eyeshadow. I use the 249 for paint pots/creamy stuff, but the 239 for just about everything else.
Really nice look and I love this new description format. Looks more organized with those keywords in bold. Very easy for me to find what I find most interesting first, like what you apply on eyes or cheek, etc. And it’s great that you describe the brushes and when to use them. Keep up the good work!
Hi Nana,
Thanks! I appreciate the feedback! I tried to incorporate the suggestions I got so hopefully this works 🙂
Good work! Both description and the look are GREAT! Thank you so much!
Thanks, Ceci!
hey the look is great and i love the bold keywords
way to go wooot 🙂
oh and the 239 is my fave eyeshadow brush too
Thanks, Claudine!
I loveeee the 239. I want like, ten of them! So I can use them for each color family, haha.
Love the look, a lot. And I love the format you chose even more. Really easy to pick out the colors used on each part of the face and easy to see what type of colors they were. I think you hit on a great combo of all the things folks were looking for. And this comes from one of the few who voted to keep the old format. I’ll admit right here I was wrong because I love this change. No complaints from me.
Thanks, Angi! I appreciate your feedback, because I really wanted to try and appease both sides 😀
The description format is great! So is the look, I love dainty blush on you!
Thanks, Nell!! 🙂
This look is beautiful! And I love the format too. Keep up the good work!
Yay! Thanks Gio!
What would we do without you Christine? Thanks for considering our wants, the description format is wonderful! Btw, I’m loving the look on you! The shadow looks clean yet it pops in a tasteful way. =D
Aww 🙂
Thank you, Chloe!!
I second this! The combined new format is A++!
Thanks, Nora!
I like this format better. It’s easier to follow. This is a GREAT look for fall, I am digging it with a winter white outfit and a silvery scarf.
Thanks so much, Rubi! It is a bit wintry, I didn’t even notice!
That’s really one of my favourite looks – everything works so well together! You look awesome 🙂
This is my first comment, although I’ve been reading your blog for weeks now, and I just wanted to say how much I enjoy it! It is so inspiring and I love your attitude towards beauty.
Thank you!
Thanks so much, Virginia! Glad you decided to speak up 🙂 Hope you keep enjoying the blog!
Lovely! I haven’t tried using my Polar Opposites yet, but now I want to! Its a soft silvery look & I love the combo with these lips.
Also, this format looks great! I think you did a good job combining the two together.
Hi Ariele,
Oh, why haven’t you used it? Get on it 😉
Thanks!
You look awesome as usual. I love the format, too–it’s a great mix of the two examples you had up earlier. Have to get on using my Polar Opposites too…sometimes I wonder if I will ever make it through all of the duos I just bought…
Hi Elle,
Thank you! You know how I got through them? By not loving them and returning them 🙁 I just couldn’t justify keeping them knowing they’d be tossed in a plastic tub and hidden away until the next time they launched MES!
Did you keep any or return all of them? The color pay off is only good with Sea & Sky, the rest you really have to layer on and i dont like it
Hi Kirsten,
So far I only have Sea & Sky, Fresh Green Mix, and Polar Opposites. I have Two to Glow, but I mean to return it (forgot to last time).
LOVE the look and the format is very user friendly!!
Thanks, Misa!
ohh, I have polar opposites, so I’ll have to try this out. The only thing that seems to be missing is the dupes. Like always, much thanks Christine!!!!
Love both x 2!
🙂
Perfect format! Thanks! Much better. This is look is just stunning!
Thanks, Calico!
The dupes are there, Kellie – they are listed under substitutes!
I bought Polar Opposites and I was praying for you to do a look with it! I LOOOVEEE IT!!! You are the best!! Thanks for the format it is perfect! Thanks for working so hard for us!
Hi Mariah,
LOL! What looks have you done with it so far?
Thanks!
This look looks great on you! The colours complement you perfectly, and your skin looks absolutely RADIANT!!!
Also, the new format is just great. Makes it easy to replicate the look! Thanks!
Ooh, very pretty 🙂 I love the format, I picked option B (so was outvoted) but this mix of the two is perfect 😀
Thanks, Chica 🙂 Glad it’s working out!
You look great! Polar opposites loks awesome on you!
The format is fantastic as well. I really like it.
Thanks so much, Kristy!
I too love your new format with the combo of suggestions everyone gave.
Love the look too, though I’m trying to stick to my guns and stay with the MES I have.
Thanks, Nartian 😀
LOL, you can do it!!
Lol Strange!!I also did this look today coz of my Grey top and grey jeans ad these lippies only, lol.U looking Beautiful!
Hi Zainy,
How awesome! Great minds think alike 😀
love the format, very easy to follow and informative. and i love the look! i have polar opposites and dainty too so im def gonna try this look out! did u contour and highlight ur cheeks with anything though? if so, what did u use?
Thanks so much, Christie!
I didn’t contour or highlight in this look. The eyes were a bit heavy, and I didn’t want the cheeks to be distracting 🙂
Oh, I love this look!
You´re making me regret not buying Polar Opposite..*sigh*
I really like the way you described colour placement, used products and so on. Very easy to follow!
Thanks, Eva! Aww, I still think Polar Opposites is passable!
This is the best look you have done in weecks!
Thanks, Sadie!
i like this description 🙂
easy to read, includes all information that i need to recreate this wonderful look.
by the way i love silvers and greys, and in the store i loved Polar Opposites,it’s my fave of the 9 🙂
Thanks, Zsofi!
Lovelovelove this look! Very cool and sophisticated. I love the shade of lipcolour you paired it with too!
I like this new format. It’s very easy to read!
Thanks so much, Betsy!
What’s a substitute for moonflower?
Hi Jill,
There really isn’t one. Maybe Surreal or Tilt would work in its place, but they’re not dupes.
The format’s great. It’s a lot easier to find what you’re looking for, i.e. the lips.
Thanks!!
Thanks, Julia!
Love both the format and the look.
Love this look. You should do grey/silver looks more often.
And the new format isn’t bad either 🙂
Thanks so much, Thalia!
I LOVE this format so much more than your old one! I knew you would come up with something fabulous like this!
This look suits you really well, its quite different from your other warmer toned looks, but I think you can pull of anything!!!!
Thank you so much, Tanya 🙂
definitely looks much more organized, and love the look! 😀
Thanks, Lydia!
Oooh this is one of my favourite looks from you!!! It’s refreshing like the green one a few days ago <3<3<3
Aw, thanks, Stacey!
The format is definately better than the first choise I voted for the second) and it’s easy to read, espessially for non-englisch mothertounge people. Go on that way.
Thank you, Nicole!
This is so pretty. Now I’m lemming Polar Opposites again! Initially I wanted it but decided to pass because I thought it wasn’t that high in my list.
Thanks, Miss QQ!
Pass on it, really! I’m not too excited over it.
Very pretty and the description is great!
Thanks, Kobri!
Love this look! I really like the way you’ve broken the info up into sub-headings, given the shade names in brackets and also summarised where to place them. It makes it really easy to follow. Thanks for being so helpful :o)
Thanks, Saira!
Your eyes are gorgeous!!
I’m asian and i use eyelid glue from time to time.. it really depends on my eyes that day…. sometimes my double eyelid is deep and sometimes they’re just gone..
I often have trouble applying eye shadow without the dried glue screwing it up cause as soon as i put on the first layer there’ll a slivery line appears on the glued part..
I was wondering if you could have a way to cover it up since you’re so good at it.
Thank you in advanced!Rika
Thanks, Erika!
Have you tried using a base? Maybe a neutral base that’s the color of your lid would help!
