Looks - How to Wear Blue Without Going Over the Top!

Quick little look! Thought I’d try a look that incorporates blue but in a subtler way for those who are a little afraid of going all-out in the blue department. The lips took it from subtle to more, though–so opt for nude or light pink lips for a truly subtle look!

It’s my Dad’s birthday (Happy 53rd!), so I’ve got some surprises in store for him (shh, he occasionally happens upon the blog, so I can’t spill the details!).  It’s going to be a wickedly warm weekend here in northern California, so I’m gearing up to have some outdoor fun.  What about you guys?  What do you have in store for tonight and the weekend?

I used Lark About pigment (LE) on lid, Vex eyeshadow on inner lid, Ricepaper eyeshadow on middle of lid, Nylon eyeshadow on outer lid, Soft Brown eyeshadow in outer crease, Satin Taupe eyeshadow on outer crease, Freshwater eyeshadow (very lightly) in outer crease, Ricepaper eyeshadow above crease and on brow, Feline kohl power (LE) on lower lash line, Blue Herizon liquidlast liner on upper lash line, and Kanebo 38+ mascara on lashes. I had Other Worldly blush (LE) on cheeks. I wore Rockocco lipstick (LE) with Cult Fave lipglass (LE) and Apex 3D glass (LE) on my lips.

** These are recommendations for dupes based on permanent colors available — may not necessarily be identical; they are the closest I can think of!

Lark About = Phloof!; Feline = Graphblack; Other Wordly = Honour; Rockcocco = Lady Danger; Cult Fave = Cultured; Apex = Lychee Luxe (not a great dupe)

That looks so good on you!

I really like blue, but find it a bit hard to pull off. Never thought of doing blue just as a liner, though. I definitely have to try it out 🙂

Hi Christine!
Thanks for your response – sorry I never saw that entry of yours! I will try it out and see what happens! =)
Another quick question – do you use wordpress? How do you get the rest of the entry to just appear when you click “read rest of entry”? Thanks in advance!

PS. I like this look on you!

Love it!! Great look, and happy to see something kinda different! I love looks like this, Aqualine is a good one for this too because it just seems to glow! Your lip color is amazing also by the way!

Happy Birthday, Daddy Christine!=)
It’s a long weekend here in Canada. So, I might just stay home and enjoy it.

P.S I really love this look!<3

I really want to try this idea! I think this would be a good way to wear a bright funky color to work – just a frisky little peek of color to perk up the day. 🙂

You look so lovely in this color!!

Just an FYI– Loreal HIP eyeshadows have a blue duo out in the drugstores. It’s a good starter for ppl experimenting with blues. One’s a denim blue hue and the other more a dark teal. Works great with brown eyes.

This weekend is an awesome rave-type of party, got a friend visiting from SF, another friend’s birthday dinner, and no other responsibilities whatsoever! Yay!

Love it, I have to admit I’m a wee bit scared of blue shadow for fear of looking a bit 80s but this subtle look is really nice, you look amazing 🙂

This looks so fresh on you, love it!
That lipcolor suits you very well. Maybe I can still find Apex at the cco, I´ll be going next week.

is it the lipstick or one of the glosses that makes your lip color so watermelonly? or is it a combo of all 3?

what is a good lipstick with a watermelon color?

i love the look, by the way!

Christine Avatar

It’s probably the lipstick, because I applied it sheerly and it’s a pop of red with a touch of pink in it.

Rozz Revival is watermelon on me, though red on others, and it was LE. You might want to try Vegas Volt (may be too coral) or Eager (may be too pink-red).

wah! love it. i did a similar look the year the liquidlasts came out but with fewer shadows (shroom, sable and summer neutral) but ended up selling blue herizon because i hardly ever used it. this makes me really wish i hadn’t! the blue makes brown eyes sparkle.
