Look: MAC Photorealism Eyeshadow Quad Made Easy
Here’s an attempt at using MAC’s Photorealism eyeshadow quad 🙂 The photos are a little wonky, because silly me forgot to change the white balance settings before taking these photos, SO I had to muck around with them (to get the right color) in Photoshop. I think they’re *fairly* accurate, but they just look so edited, so I do apologize! I do recommend substituting a different highlighter in this look, but my goal was to only use the quad’s eyeshadows. But definitely feel free to go with something more neutral and less shimmery for a better look 🙂
You will need the following…
- Eyes: Soft Ochre paint pot (neutral beige base), Silver Fog pigment (platinum silver), Image Maker eyeshadow (soft grey-green), Fresh Approach eyeshadow (pastel green), Grey Range eyeshadow (dark teal), Photorealism eyeshadow (soft gold), Make Up For Ever #20L Aqua Eyes (dark teal), Plushlash mascara (black)
- Cheeks: The Perfect Cheek (pale pink), Dior Amber Diamond Skin Shimmer (bronzy highlighter)
- Lips: Front Lit lipstick (sheer white-gold), New Spirit lipglass (peachy-orange), Lychee Luxe lipglass (coral)
- Brushes: 266 (firm, angled brush), 226 (fluffy crease brush), 219 (pointed crease brush), 214 (smudge brush), 249 (flat, firm brush), 239 (fluffy shadow brush), 129 (dense blush brush)
- Substitutes: Photorealism = Nylon; Image Maker = Electra; Fresh Approach = Juxt; Grey Range = Deep Truth+Shimmermoss; The Perfect Cheek = Dame; Front Lit = Tanarama; New Spirit = Love Nectar
Directions: Define brows using a coordinating powder shadow applied with the 266 brush. Apply Soft Ochre paint pot all over the lid as the base with the 249. With the 239, apply Silver Fog pigment with water-based mixing medium on the lower lid. On the inner lid, pack Fresh Approach eyeshadow on using the 239. Apply Image Maker eyeshadow to the middle and outer portions of the lid. Darken crease with Grey Range eyeshadow using the 226. Sweep Photorealism eyeshadow underneath the brow bone to highlight. Finish with Make Up For Ever #20L Aqua Eyes on lower lash line9. Apply Plushlash mascara on lashes. Sweep apples of cheeks with The Perfect Cheek blush using the 129, then highlight with Dior Amber Diamond Skin Shimmer with the 188. Apply Front Lit lipstick to lips, and then top with New Spirit and Lychee Luxe lipglasses for color and shine.

I was so excited to come on here this morning and see a look! It’s been a while(Although I HAVE enjoyed all the new features on Temptalia) Gorgeous, and really makes the brown in your eyes stand out.
Thanks so much, Kirsten!
Oh I really like this, it’s bold and classy at the same time. Also, I’m liking the gold sparkly bits in your eyebrows, either the eyeshadow is on them or the sun got to them, but I still like it!!! 🙂 x
Thanks, Ribbons! OMG, I have NO idea how the brow highlight got all over y brows, too, lol.
I like this look because it seems like an everyday look with a touch of color. Plus it goes well with your eye color.
I agree with Ribbons(above) I like the gold sparkly bits in your eyebrows.
Thanks, Emm! 😀
Haha, who knew an oops could be pretty! Still trying to figure out how those sparkly bits got there.
That’s a very nice look, Christine. I love how the colours in your makeup always match your clothes (or the other way round).
Thank you so much, Natalia ;D
thank you for the look I love this quad, now your making me want it even more and You look so pretty in green, but anything u wear looks nice .. pretty lady 🙂
Aw, thanks so much, Nicole!
Nice shirt color! And this make up fits you particularly well.
I love that dark teal. When it comes to green I generally only wear khaki and olive and avoid the teal side (for some reason, I don’t think it would flatter my grey green eyes) but I should definitely give this type of color a try. Beside, I thought it was an uninteresting quad but you proved me I was wrong.
Also… does “The Perfect Cheek” really look like “Dame”?
Thank you! 🙂
It’s not a great dupe, it’s just the best amongst the permanent line. The Perfect Cheek is much more played down – kind of like a dusty, dirty pink.
So pretty ! I like the gold in your brows , was that upside-down fall-out or are you meaning to set a trend ? =p
I have NO idea how it got there! So confused, but hey… if people like… we’ll call it setting a trend 😛
that is seriously amazing..I heart it 🙂
Yay! Glad you liked it, Bettina – thank you!
Very pretty look, I’m so glad you finally did one. Been waiting impatiently. I especially love the lips. Now I’m really hoping that you do a look with the beautiful single eyeshadows of this collection. That is what I’ve been wanting the most, lol.
Thank you! I’m happy to hear you liked it since you’ve waited SO patiently 🙂
I like the look (except for the brow highlight) and find the lip combo super pretty.
I’ve always wanted to tell you that your eyes are incredible. Really beautiful !!!
Thanks, Margot 🙂
I like the lip and you’re making me want to get this quad! Been trying to hold off so bad, but maybe I’ll get that this week.
Thanks a lot, Christy!
I love the Photo Realism quad and I picked up last week at a MAC event, where the MA did a look on me with the it. I was playing around with it doing my own thing and I find that the Soft Ochre Paint Pot blanched out the colours too much on me. It could just be my skin tone or the soft ochre’s colour oxidized. I would probably try playing around it it some more with a different base.
Glad you picked it up, Amy! I used Silver Fog over Soft Ochre to make it pop. I haven’t used it on Soft Ochre alone though.
yay girl! you finally busted that quad out! it’s for sure my fav of the MUAC collection quads. looking good! i think that’s too many exclamation points. oh well. 🙂
Glad you’re enjoying yours!! 🙂
Thank you!
You look lovely! Teal suits you so very well! 🙂
Yay! Thanks so much, CrystalS!
This is a great look for you, Christine. I must get this quad now I’m excited
Thank you, Glenna 😀
Love this look!
Woo! Thanks, Lisa!
Great look as always Christine!
Thanks a bunch, Tami 🙂
looks pretty on you i just prefer at least one matte color …
So do I, but the quad didn’t have it!
Looks really good.
I actually used this palette today. It was my first day back to school so I wanted to use it.
Thanks, Jill!
How did you wear it?
My fave quad (& the only one I bought) from the collection! Funny cuz I also was wearing it today but with Moss Scape paint pot underneath.
Although green does not look as nice on me as it does on you!
How did you like using Moss Scape as a base?
It picked up on the green underneath nicely! Next time, I might try a green pigment such as Antique Green or Kelly Green…
Very nice! I may have to try! 🙂 Thanks!
you did a great job editing those photos Christine, I do photography as a hobby and I wouldn’t have know you edited those at all if you hadn’t said mentioned it. 🙂
Thanks, Bettina! My boyfriend said the same, so maybe it’s just the knowledge of how much post editing was required!
I miss your looks, Christine! Glad to finally see one after so long.
Sorry about the absence, Rachel!
Thank you!
Hey Chris!
Hope all is well. Been awhile!
Looking good! Loving that tan!!!;)
Thanks, girl!! Hope you’re well!
Love the look, colors are very complimentary on you! Thank you for doing this look.
Thanks so much, Buttafly!
I missed seeing looks from you Christine! This is very prettiful! I did a similar look with this quad. This quad is absolutely stunning and I havn’t been so impressed with a MAC product in a long time.
Thanks, Rachael! More looks more often has been a goal on my list for awhile, but school is not making it easy. Going to redouble the efforts this week 🙂
This look is just gorgeous on you!!!!!
Thanks, Andrea! 🙂
you have such beautiful eyes Christine! the iris! haha i think this eyeshadow really bring out your eyes colour
Thanks, Pinky! 🙂
This is sooo pretty! Now I want this quad! And I like your skin! What foundation did you use here?
Thanks, Kristen!
In this look, I’m actually wearing Korres’ Wild Rose Foundation!
I love green but this makeup is stunning! It complements your eyes so well!! You look gorgeous! Great color combination like always.
Thanks, Freyza!
This is a really beautiful look on you. It pulls the green flecks in your eyes to the center of attention.
Just lovely…
Thank you so much, Nancy Bridget!
very pretty…. like this look so much…
Thanks, Jess! 🙂
I am so tired of seeing the same look on your eyes. You use different colors but in the pics they all look the SAME. No originality and no deviation…you are stuck in a rut girl and it takes all the fun out of the makeup when you don’t do anything new and exciting.
What is the point in trolling?
Sorry you didn’t like the look!
It isnt that I didnt like the look, that is not what I said, nor what I was getting at…the look is the SAME! I even went back through your library of looks and guess what…they are the same. I WANT you to try new stuff, I WANT to see fun, artistic, off the wall, unexpected creativity! You have the means, obviously if you are keeping up a website devoted to all things makeup, so find the creativity I know you have and USE it to your full advantage. Just think of how many more readers you could get if you stepped out of the box you have put your eyes into.
white balance problem???? really???
Looks so pretty!!! definitely my make up style!!! L O V E it!!!! the brow detail nice 🙂
Aww, thank you!!
Thanks a lot for posting this. I was so stoked on the quad and then I took it home and have some trouble getting the full effect of the colours. Now I’m going to pull it out and can’t wait to use it!
I hope it works out for you, Sylvia! Just keep experimenting 🙂
Thank you!
Very nice 😉 Want to buy the quad now 🙂
Thanks, Marie!
