Look - Light Smoky Eye for Day and Night

On Saturday, we went out to celebrate my Mom’s birthday at a French restaurant, so I dolled myself up with a different take on the traditiona smoky eye. Still staying with grays and blacks, but I went for a light lid. I haven’t decided if I liked it or not, LOL. Happy Veteran’s Day!

You will need the following…

  • Eyes: Soft Ochre paint pot (nude base), Femme-fi eyeshadow (beige), Smut eyeshadow (cool brown), Silver Ring eyeshadow (silver), Shroom eyeshadow (beige), Carbon eyeshadow (black), Silverstroke Fluidline (silver gel liner), Feline kohl power (black liner), Plushlash mascara (black)
  • Cheeks: NARS Super Orgasm blush (soft peach-pink)
  • Lips: Strawberry Blonde lipstick (coral-pink), Cult Fave lipglass (pink)
  • Brushes: 266 (firm, angled brush), 249 (flat, firm brush), 239 (fluffy shadow brush), 129 (dense blush brush)
  • Substitutes: Femme-fi = Shroom; Feline = Grahpblack; Strawberry Blonde = Skew; Cult Fave = Pinkarat

Directions: Define brows using a coordinating powder shadow applied with the 266 brush. Apply Soft Ochre paint pot all over the lid as the base with the 249. On the inner lid, apply Femme-fi eyeshadow using the 239, then blend and cover entire lid. Apply Smut eyeshadow lightly in the outer crease. Darken crease using Carbon eyeshadow lightly tapped into outer most crease. Above crease, lightly apply Silver Ring eyeshadow to diffuse the shades. Sweep Shroom underneath the brow bone to highlight. Finish with Silverstroke fluidline on upper lash line and inner lower lash line, then apply Feline kohl power on outer lower lash line (smudged/smoked with Carbon eyeshadow), and Plushlash mascara on lashes. Sweep apples of cheeks with NARS Super Orgasm blush using the 129. Apply Strawberry Blonde lipstick to lips, and then top with Cult Fave lipglass for color and shine.

I like it. I can’t do smokey eyes properly, always end up looking like I’ve got two black eyes, so I much prefer the grey shades. Nice lips too. 🙂

I love the silver!! Just curious, but is Mellan 100% labrador? He looks really lithe, almost hound-ish… but maybe he’s from the American strain of labs (according to wiki), because I have a lab too but he’s more of the stocky British type. How are Mellan’s hips doing?

Thanks, Katie! Yes, he’s 100% labrador. He’s definitely from the American stock. My boyfriend’s brother has a purebred labrador, but of the English variety – they’re similar enough, but still different in the build. Mellan is also kept deliberately underweight/at weight (because every pound extra he carries is weight he has to carry on his hips), so that might be why he looks really lanky!

His hips are OK, they’re never going to improve, but he’s still acting like your normal puppy with not a care in the world 🙂

This look is really pretty on you! 🙂 Do you think something like this might work using dark coppers/bronzes too? lol, I’m an NC45, and I’m not sure how the silvers/greys would look on me…

This is a really lovely look!
The colours compliment each other so well and really works for you Christine :))))

That said, what coincidence!
I just bought Silverstroke fluidline about an hour ago and when I popped in here, I did a double twist backflip!!

The silver liner is a real eyecatcher. Looks very good.

I wonder how the look works with a thin black or anthracite liner instead of the silver liner.

hi, Ive been reading your blog for quite some time now, and think its amazing, thanks for all the great tips 🙂 one thing that i would like to suggest is a few pictures in different lighting, most of your looks are amazing, but i think it would help to post a few pictures in natural daylight as well, and not too close up so we can see how u look from afar

This is my favorite look on you thus far! You look gorgeous! I don’t have silver stroke or actually femme fi and smut but I’m going to try to dupe this look. I just love it, im thinking silverfog with mixing medium as liner will do the trick.

Hi Chris, I love the look most esp your eyebrows.. It has a nice thickness all through the shape. It used to be very thick at the base before (the tadpole syndrome)lol !!
