Look - Bright Red Holiday Lips

This is a super quick look from a week or two ago–it was actually not so great looking in person, LOL. Why? Because I discovered the foundation I used was too dark on me, and I was plagued by the dreaded orange face!! I was soo embarrassed. I gotta get a lighter shade of Select Tint, because NC35 (which I bought in the summer) is ridiculously too dark for me. I didn’t realize my skin tone had lightened so much this winter.

You will need the following…

  • Eyes: Ricepaper eyeshadow (soft highlighter), Urban Decay Honey 24/7 Liner, Graphblack technakhol (black), Plushlash mascara (black)
  • Cheeks: Givenchy Euphoric Orange blush (soft peach)
  • Lips: Queen’s Sin lipstick (red), Cult of Cherry lipglass (red)
  • Brushes: 266 (firm, angled brush), 249 (flat, firm brush), 239 (fluffy shadow brush), 129 (dense blush brush)
  • Substitutes: Queen’s Sin = Russian Red; Cult of Cherry = Russian Red

Directions: Define brows using a coordinating powder shadow applied with the 266 brush. Lightly sweep Ricepaper eyeshadow all over lid.  Apply Urban Decay Honey 24/7 Liner on lower lash line and mix a little Graphblack technakohl with it. Add Plushlash mascara on lashes. Sweep apples of cheeks with Euphoric Orange blush using the 129. Apply Queen’s Sin lipstick to lips, and then top with Cult of Cherry lipglass for color and shine.

Despite what you say about your foundation (it looks a-ok to me!), you look AMAZING. I love this. It makes your eyes look lighter brown. I just love this. That red on you is perfection.

How do you like select tint? Have been debating whether to get this or face & body as another foundation in addition to my SFF. Can you describe its coverage compared to f&b and sff? Thanks!
And for me, you always look beautiful, no matter how you complain about your look!

I like it more for summer than any other time, just because I love SFF more. Face & Body has a bit of dewiness to it, so if you don’t like that, then Select Tint is better. The coverage is similar to F&B, though you can build up a bit more with F&B. SFF is more medium coverage than the other two.

Oh wow you look amazing! Love the eye look, love the blush, love the lips, love everything! Speaking of red lips, I went to Sephora and tried out Wild Card from Benefit’s line of Full-Finish lipsticks after seeing your review and it was gorgeous, so thanks for that post! I’m a little worried about the staying power, but maybe if I dab some UDPP on my lips or something it’ll stay…

Thank you so much, Miss Fred!

I’m glad you picked up Wild Card – it’s really a great shade. I haven’t had any issues with the wear time (it didn’t strike me as any less lasting than the average lipstick), but my favorite trick is lip liner all over your lips before the lipstick!

Your eyes look fantastic, and I’m love with the lip colour! You are so lucky to have such great shaped/sized lips to be able to pull of bold colours. And I so know what you mean aobut the foundation looking fine in the bathroom – yesterday morning I borrowed my flatemate’s brush to apply my powder foundation, not knowing that she had used it to apply a very orangy bronzer the night before – as I caught a glimpse of my reflection at work, I realized that my face was a lovely shimmery orange!

Thanks, Louise! 🙂 Haha, sometimes I feel like they’re a lil’ too big so I get nervous wearing bolder lip colors.

Isn’t that the worst, though? Knowing you walked around with your face and neck totally not matching? LOL. I felt so silly!
