Lip Lust: Strayin' Lipstick + Nice To Be Nice Lipglass
Jonesin’ for Strayin’
If you’ve looked at swatches (or even tried it on in-store) of Strayin’ lipstick from MAC’s Hello Kitty Collection and thought to yourself, “This is just too bright!” I urge you to think again! First, whenever a lipstick seems too bold or bright for you, remember you can always sheer it down by using less, mixing it with clear gloss/balm, or blotting after applying.
But more importantly, you can always use a lipgloss to blend the color and adjust it to the perfect hue flattering for you. Strayin’ runs on the cool side, and I tend to look better with warmer tones. By adding Nice To Be Nice Lipglass (a glittery orange-y gloss) on top, I was able to warm up the lipstick to just the right shade that works well with my skin tone.
Love this look. It’s hot!
Thanks, Marsadie!
Strayin’ is a gorgeous color, it goes will with Nice Kitty too 🙂
looks amazing!
Thanks, Manda!

Me too!! I have been dying to see this color full on!
I posted it here… http://www.temptalia.com/look-neutral-hello-kitty-eye-with-lucky-tom-palette
I posted it with my last look, Charlene! It’s the same pink lip I used that I felt didn’t work with the look so I opted for a second combo.
I did this too – it’s so pretty this way!
Yayy! Great minds think alike 😀
This lip combo is so pretty!
I knowww! I can’t wait to wear it again.
Do you think nw20/25 can pull it off?? I am a sucker for pinks lately but I am terrified of how shocking some pinks can be. I am nw20/25 with light blue eyes and brown/w blonde highlights.
Yes, I definitely think you could!!
Love this look..rock the brights!
Thanks, Susie!
I just went and bought Strayin today. Haven’t tried it on yet though. My first time seeing MAC in a store, I was amazed!
Ooh! I think you will love it on! Let me know!
I tried it and it’s so pretty. I put Snowscene on top of it. I’m gonna try it with She Loves Candy and Sweet Strawberry later (not both at the same time). I had Lovely Lily on my eyes with Sunset B over it and I added Kitty Power and a little bit of Romping. At first, I had Pomposity and Snowscene, then changed it to Strayin and Snowscene. And I drew a little red heart under my right eye.
i know, i totally fell in love with strayin’ when I saw it in one of christine’s swatches I had to get it! great combo though 🙂
loveitttttt<3
I’m so glad you got it, too, Shanel!
I get my HK order today!!! Yay I’m lovin this combo and love strayin’ 🙂
YAY! Glad you got your order!!
I would have not chosen the color because it looks to bright but honestly you rock it!
It’s really pretty! It’s good with a cat or neutral eye!
Pretty!
Thanks, Liz!

No problem, Jeni! 🙂
it looks amazing! yeah im one of those girls who loves the color.but thought it was really bright too… thanks for giving us this tip! =]
No prob, Melissa!
I’m NW15, blonde hair, blue eyes. I love this colour and don’t find it too bright at all!
HI!! I wear MUFE 128 foundation and MAC NW 35 concealer….do you think this color would look good on me???
My MAC counter is sold out and I would love your opinion before I buy it online. Thanks!!
PS. I am medium light skinned East Indian if that helps 🙂
If you have light to medium skin tone then you can pull off this color. If it’s still too bright, you can always tone it down using a lighter shade lipgloss.. or you can also mix and match to find the right shade for you.
Really good advice 😀
I think it would, Shweta!
