Blush, my favorite 🙂 However, I’ve never really been a face of two products being put in the same pan that are not meant to be swirled together… I hope these get reviewed. My favorite from these promo pictures is the Hansel + Gretel one.

I will definitely pick up Morticia & Gomez; regardless of color, I just need it for the name alone, LOL! Fortunately, they do look like they’ll work for me. The same for Bonnie & Clyde. I also kind of want Sid & Nancy, but that’s one I definitely need to swatch in-person…

I really miss her old “metal” packaging. It was so unique to me and now she puts out this cardboard crap and boring plastic packaging. I know its really about the product inside, but I’m a packaging junkie.

Never got any KVD blushes, but Longo ones made like this played well. Like all the pairings…they make sense. But I LOVE the names. It’s funny how shade names can turn you on or off towards a product. (Yeah, I know, Christine, it’s called marketing…). I thought the recent Tarte names tried too hard to be trendy and youthful. Yeah, let me wear Manbun to my 50th HS reunion! Not. Hey, I got KVD Susperia, ’cause I love Italian Gialli movies (and hate all other horror.) KVD has some rather obscure references in her shade names, not all of which I get. But Nosferatu? Mickey and Mallory? Sid and Nancy? More great and landmark films. I vote KVD ‘Best Shade Names’ in the makeup hall of fame. Real nice release. The usual hopes for it (reviews well and availability.)

cant wait to see ur reviews on these! I went ahead n grabbed Bonnie n Clyde and Morticia n Gomez (even tho from the pics they look almost similar), Piaf n Poe mainly looks like a bronzer type shade I have waaaay too many of. DONT FORGET THE 10% OFF CODE LAYDEEEEEZ!!!

Some of these duos are absolutely beautiful looking!
One pet peeve, however; Sid and Nancy???? Seriously???? He abused and eventually murdered her!!! Putting that together with what I myself escaped, I find the name choice BEYOND offensive.

Other duos I can deal with the names of *slightly* better. I guess.? I have to investigate Piaf and Poe’s back story. Because that’s my favorite of these.

I’d bet she picked Piaf and Poe because those are her cats’ names. So, pretty innocuous. Morticia and Gomez is also pretty innocent, since of all TV couples, they had quite a good relationship.

I’m personally just so bored of so many things being named after Sid and Nancy

Piaf & Poe are Kat’s cats. Piaf was named after an old-time caberet singer and fashion icon. Poe was named for the writer.

I would have preferred more nice “weirdo” names such as “Morticia & Gomez.” (Maybe Edward & Kim or Herman & Lily?)

I don’t know whether “Sid & Nancy” is any worse than “Bonnie & Clyde” or “Mickey & Mallory.” Sid & Nancy’s story is part of pop culture legend. Sid was provided with drugs and paraphernalia by his mother from a young age, and he was physically abusive to Nancy. Nancy was emotionally abusive and psychologically manipulative toward Sid. Both were raging drug addicts. I find the whole story incredibly sad, sordid, and seriously effed up.

About the cats, at first I was just seriously confused because Edith Piaf lived in our past century, but Edgar Allan Poe was before her time, so because everyone else was paired into actual or fictional couples, I actually had to google it! When I saw Kat’s cats, I felt really stupid that I had forgotten that those were their names, because I’m a sucker for cats!!! ??

Knew about Sid ad Nancy. Burns a bit because of what I went through and also, my name is same. Horrible, sad, tragedy. Those two were a mess. I would have rather seen, as you mentioned, “Herman & Lily” or “Edward & Kim”. I despise anything that glorifies abuse or murder. Therefore, I won’t be buying Mickey & Mallory or Bonnie & Clyde either. Although, I really loved that Warren Beatty Faye Dunaway movie about them as a kid!

Guess I’m reverting to my HS motto: offend a few a day….and Antonin Artaud (theatre theorist) who said that good theatre is like the bubonic plague. It’s for shock value, like the 2 Nars Xmas releases. I knew nothing about the Sex Pistols, being an old broad who listens to classical, but found that their history, depravity, and level of psychological disturbance amazing. Pluto orbit disturbing. I kept the box for Guy Boudain blush and Steven Klein is printed on the container. Many of the KVD references are very dark, even the ones you, I, or the next person does not recognize. Think Lolita, whether you are talking Russian literature or a Jeremy Irons film. NOT a pretty story. NOT a pretty young thing. Thanks for telling me about the cats. I could draw no connection between EA Poe and Edith Piaf. Only have one of her records, and I mean record, vinyl. Always big with French teachers. Still a wonderful representation of womanhood in a certain era. Je Ne Regrette Rien is as much a woman’s anthem of the time as Stand By Your Man. I guess what I mean about all of this is, consider the context and the source. You don’t have to agree with it. And you can divorce a product from its name or rename it with a sticker, what the shade evokes for you. Daisy and Minnie, Mary and Edith, or MY princesses, Pluto and Goofy….whatever.

Very excellent points you make there, KJH. Perhaps what’s truly weird is that it doesn’t shock me. Not much does anymore. Instead it just makes me wonder how, pray tell, is naming a blush after this tragically drug and violence addled couple, glamorous? Or “pretty”? Whenever something like the graphics for say, the Steven Klein collection, or a Sid & Nancy blush are being marketed to the very group they are objectifying, I feel that it takes us backwards as women. And as human beings.
But at least there are still the cats: Piaf & Poe!

I’m usually not a fan of matte blushes, but some interesting colors here. Really curious if they last 24 hours ’cause my cheeks eat up blush

Genna Avatar

They look great, but I’d buy them for the names alone- Sid & Nancy! Mickey & Mallory (possibly one of the best movies ever made!)- yes, please!!!

Carly Avatar

Can’t wait for your swatches! I have my eye on Bonnie+Clyde and Morticia+Gomez. Some Instagram swatches look promising. I have one of KVD’s old blushes and it kicked up a lot of powder when I used it. Hope this is a better formula because the colors look good.
