Wow, is it just me or are the price points on those refillable palettes kind of steep? To completely refill a palette would cost almost twice as much as just buying a brand new one.

I get that most people are only going to run out of one or two shades, but that still seems like kind of an excessive price point to me. :/ I’m curious to see the new shades they’re planning to release next year.

It is normal for singles (even pans) to cost more than a pre-made palette. This is a more backwards approach since the refills came after the eyeshadow palette – but it is like when Urban Decay took shades from some of the Naked palettes: if you were to rebuild a Naked palette, it would cost you far more individually than to just buy the palette. I’m not saying that’s right or what should be done, only that this is actually pretty normal.

actually it is a great deal, I mean I’m not gonna use all shades Kat is giving in the whole palette I just use two shades in the middle, and of cause buying a single pan is always expensive than the whole palette.

This is completely pointless, IMO. The biggest gripe on all of Kat’s SM (and others’, as well), is that most people don’t use half the shades. I personally thought, and feel it would have been far more prudent, to do the compacts as “duos*. I doubt even loyal customers will jump on the palette… I plan to wait out the new shades before committing; it may have been a wiser move to do this at the same time as the new shades, *and* empty palettes, at the very least.

Don’t get me wrong, I have the original palette, as well as other similar palettes, and while I love them all (and have figured out ways to use every shade), I am among a very small minority. I just happen to have an abnormal obsession with contouring, LOL!

I think a more prudent approach would be to offer 2-, 4-, or 6-pan palette options for a nominal price, based on how many refills one buys, the way MUFE does. Also, the new shades should have rolled out at the same time.

Hmm, this is a strange product. I rarely contour, and if I do, it’s using 1 shade, not 6 shades. 6 shades might be useful for an MUA, but I don’t think most people are going to use 6 shades, either because it’s too much contouring and/or not all of the shades are going to flatter their skintone

This is also great for those who’ve created their own face/cheek palette and just want one or two colors that best suits their skin tone. Good idea.

Oh interesting,, I like the banana colour and have been using the middle shade as a bronzer (I’m trying to finish products up and even though it’s a bit dark with a light hand and slightly tanned skin atm it works. I would have thought though that she might have introduced some more shades as like people have been saying, most people will only use 1 or 2. Maybe she could introduce powder foundation, blush and highlight shades in the same size, now that would make it worth it. A full face customisable powder palette. Otherwise I might (when I finish the huge back log of banana powders I have consider just the refill for a z palette?? X

I don’t have the original contour palette and would not buy it since I am too fair for all but one of the products. I think I will check these out in store and possibly just pick up the shades that work for me as refills and put them in a larger Z-palette that I have.

I am loving that the palette is now in a plastic holder as opposed to the cardboard. I wish, like most on here, that they offered the “build your own” option not the option that is already filled because not everyone can work with the colors already provided. Do the $49 but choose your colors option.
