Items of Intrigue, Vol. 003

I’m totally loving being able to share with you some of my own personal ooh and ahh products each week. As always, I look forward to hearing fro you if you’ve tried any of these products yourself!

  • NARS Night Series Eyeshadow Palette ($55.00) brings so many of the famous Night shades into one palette, which makes it a great deal, but I wonder how everything works together.
  • Chanel Recourb Cils de Chanel ($34.00) looks so sleek in its black metal dress. I wonder if it outperforms my Shu Uemura curler…
  • Giorgio Armani Eyes to Kill Mascara ($30.00) is something I haven’t yet tried but am always hearing rave reviews for!
  • Jo Malone Oud & Bergamot Cologne Intense ($135.00) is one of several new Cologne Intense scents. I’m totally drawn in by the black bottles. I picked this particular one because of my love for Tom Ford’s Oud Wood.
  • Dior Adhesive Eyeliner Patches ($59.00) just look interesting. I’d love to see these actually worn.

What new (or old!) products have caught your eye recently?

The Chanel eye curler is worth every penny. I have both the Shu and the new Chanel one and I don’t reach for my Shu AT ALL anymore. I was always pinching my eyes cuz the Shu is made more for almond Asian eyes where the Chanel for more rounded eyes. The Chanel is such a relief now to use cuz I can get to the base of the lashes more easily. Thank goodness I spent the money for it!

Oh no, Christine! You just HAD to show me a Chanel lash curler! I might have to break my ban to compare it to my Shu for, you know, research purposes….*wink* haha

those eyeliner patches look really interesting!! :O

I´m really fascinated by the lip-tatoos from violentlips! sadly I don´t think I could get my hands on these~
there´s sooo many cool stuff but it´s only available in the US :/

My hubby bought me the Jo Malone Oud & Bergamot last month in London @ the Jo Malone Boutique right off of Bond Street. I tried buying it in Dec 2010 at Harrod’s but they were all sold out due to it being so popular! So I ended up buying the Amber & Pachouli that is similar. Both Cologne Intense IMO smell beautiful that r great to wear for an evening out. Perfect Fall/Autumn scents!

I’m totally curious about the liner stickers, too! No one I read seems to have gotten a promo set. -Someone- has to try them! Wonder if these would work any better for you then real liner (not sure if the adhesive would still be a bother)

YSL palette noir terriblement
Guerlain le noir palette
Tom Ford Titanium Smoke quad

I am wondering which one is better..
I need one black/dark grey quad for Autumn!

I have CD 3 colours black smocky .. but it is not really what I expected..

I agree with other on the Armani ETK Mascara! I usually wait for your review Christine before I purchase but I couldn’t wait on you anymore… I had to have it!! LOL And I love it more than DiorShow. I passed on the NARS Night Series b/c I was disappointed in the (dry) swatches. However, I heard they are much better when used wet.

must…have…that curler ::Drool:: wonder if it works better than the silly Tarte one I got in my lashstash last year. I never use it! I just think it’ll be so lovely on the edge of the vase I keep my brushes.

Hmm, the Dior liner stickers look interesting, I wonder if they are reusable? The price point would be rather high otherwise. They look like they could be really really cool, or a gimmick along the lines of those L’Oreal paint roller foundations.

The night series palette looks awesome, because I don’t necessarily need a full size of each of those types of shadows, since I mostly use them for liners.

I’m disappointed to hear that the new NARS palette is not up to par. I remember they released a night palette for the holidays a few years ago and I remember thinking the pigmentation was amazing, as most NARS eyeshadows are, and almost bought the palette (but somehow I had the will power to say no!). Oh well. At least I have some similar colors in the UD Black Palette. My wallet will be happy 🙂

This blog topic has been very interesting since one gets to hear about other products ALREADY on the market. I stopped buying Nars long long long time ago. The rubber container starts to get sticky when it gets worn. Good to know others tried the Armani mascara and liked it. Good to know someone thinks the Shu Uemura is for Asian almond eyes….besides I think Chanel mark up anything just becuz of the “C”. Would be interesting if they had eyebrow patches also…..but $59.00?????

I’d love to see the liner patches. Good heavens I hope they are reuseable at that price.
I’m curious about the Les Jeans de Chanel polishes. Shame on Chanel for charging $29 for those 3 and staying at $25 for the rest of them. I’m desperately looking for dupes. Will you be reviewing them?

Chrissy Avatar

Those eyeliner patches are seriously overpriced. They’re not reusable, are they? And why use stickers if you can just draw them? I don’t know. Seems like a waste of money to me.

I’ve been lemming the UD Rollergirl palette since it came out, and finally caved recently and ordered it online. It arrives Thursday!!

Ugh @ the eyeliner patches. I can’t imagine paying $60 for those, when I could draw those shapes on my eye.

i have the GA eyes to kill mascara and i love it! it’s the best! i’ve tried chanel, lancome, covergirl, all kinds of brands but this one holds my curls, volumize, lengthens, everything! k, i’m done raving. but it’s awesome! u need to try it 🙂

I love pretty, curled eyelashes and have looked into the Chanel curler as well. I don’t want to buy it though, love it, then not be able to repurchase because it’s LE. I’m also curious about the NARS and Le Metier de Beaute curlers. I love the shu but want to see if there’s anything out there better for my eyes

Becca Avatar

…..eyeliner patches???? wth???? that’s so weird…. haha at first though, I thought it said “eyebrow patches” so I was a little more frightened!

An item of interest to me is a freakin brush roll/ case. Mac discontinued the one I wanted. I need something to travel with. Do any other brands make one? Seriously can’t find one that doesn’t already have brushes. Btw love this topic cool to see a few products i didn’t know about.

During a weak moment (in a shopping frenzy), I purchased the chanel eyelash curler, and have used it exactly twice since. (maybe Im just waiting for my KS lash enhancing MU remover to work first) Its good, but not 34$ good! Im really kicking myself for losing my old trusty revlon curler. The newer ones seem so flimsy in comparison– and it was probably only 5$. Now I have my eye on a very small BB party palette that I saw on her site– and its very inexpensive . Must buy!

Sad to report that the NARS Night Series Palette doesn’t work for me either. 🙁 My cousin (a makeup artist) told me that I need to pack the color on by pressing them on my lids instead of sweeping them across in order for the color and the glitters to come through, but who has time for that? I tried using it wet but my palette just looked filmed over afterwards. That’s $55 I wish I hadn’t spent…

Oh and Christine, I don’t think the colors work together on the lid either…
