How do you introduce new skin care products to your routine?

How do you introduce new skin care products to your routine? Share!

If I add a new product, then I only add one but keep the rest the same. If I want to add a second product into my routine, I try to wait two to three weeks after adding the first one so that it’s a gradual process to switch over.

Please keep discussion on-topic, and if you have general feedback, a product review request, an off-topic question, or need technical support, please contact us!

Please help us streamline the comments' section and be more efficient: double-check the post above for more basic information like pricing, availability, and so on to make sure your question wasn't answered already. Comments alerting us to typos or small errors in the post are appreciated (!) but will typically be removed after errors are fixed (unless a response is needed).

We appreciate enthusiasm for new releases but ask readers to please hold questions regarding if/when a review will be posted as we can't commit to or guarantee product reviews. We don't want to set expectations and then disappoint readers as even products that are swatched don't always end up being reviewed due to time constraints and changes in priorities! Thank you for understanding!

I introduce new products one at a time so I can make sure my skin doesn’t react badly to it. It’s harder to determine which product causes your skin to react if you’re using more than one new product at a time.

Definitely, one product at a time. I also think it is very important to give the new product time to actually have an affect on the skin. It takes approximately four weeks for a new set of cells to reach the surface so what seemed OK in the beginning might become a problem after awhile and visa-versa.

I do the same as you. I have sensitive skin, so adding one thing at a time, and gradually, instantly lets me know if I’ll react to a product.

I so agree with the comments of introducing only one new product at a time. When you do this you understand how the new products work with others you are using. And if for some reason there is a negative reaction, you know it’s the new product! Then you don’t have to change all the products to determine the culprit.
