Illamasqua Perfuzzi Nail Varnish Review, Photos, Swatches
Illamasqua PerfuzziNail Varnish
Illamasqua PerfuzziNail Varnish ($17.00 for 0.50 fl. oz.) is a vibrant, sunshine yellow gold with gold micro-glitter and glitter. Zoya Kerry (P, $9.00) is metallic. MAC Immortal Gold (LE, $16.00) is less warm-toned. China Glaze Lighthouse (LE, $7.50) is similar but sheerer. China Glaze Champagne Bubbles (LE, $7.50) is less glittery. Zoya Solange (P, $9.00) is lighter. See comparison swatches.
This shade is exclusive to Bloomingdale’s, and it’s supposed to have a “Shattered Stars” formula/finish, but it was like glue. I don’t know if I’ve ever encountered such a thick polish before. I was more than a little surprised that it didn’t look like gluey, gloppy awfulness on the nails, as it actually looked half-decent, but it was noticeably thick. It was fairly opaque in a single coat but two are necessary for fully opaque color. It’s a gorgeous color, but something went very awry with the consistency, which made application more difficult, and you have to be really, really careful with how you place your hand as you wait for it to dry (which takes forever). I typically get a week or more out of Illamasqua’s formula.

Looking at your nails it really looks fine, so strange that the formula was so thick and difficult to work with.
I was SOOO surprised that it didn’t look horrible, lol!
So rare for Illamasqua to fail on a polish. Nice colour, but I can see the thickness.
It is! When they do, they seem to do it spectacularly 🙁
Such a cool shade, but too bad the formula was so thick!
I know!!
Thanks, though pretty I guess we should all pass on this one!
No prob!
What a shame, the shade looks really nice but if it doesnt perform its a no go.
I couldn’t believe how thick it was!
It does like quite gloppy. What a shame though if it was a thinner consistency it would have been amazing!
I’m not a fan of that shade of yellow! Hard to wear!
It can be!
Pretty shade, too bad about the formula.
I know! The results are so pretty.
Hm, reminds me of some of the Butter London glitters I’ve tried…beautiful but kind of goopy! It is a lovely sparkly gold, but maybe not unique enough to justify the struggle…
The price alone makes me want far better quality!
I’m always so impressed with your ability to make poorly performing products look so good! That being said, there is too much nail polish in the world to mess with one that is this hard to apply.
Aw, thank you Katie!! 🙂
This was a surprise – I figured it was going to look HORRIBLE applied.
I don’t like the color, or the thickness.
The thickness is a total deal-breaker!
Do you think maybe you got a dud? It’s such a pretty color! Such a shame!
It’s possible, but it’s not what I would assume. It makes excuses for the brand, which is something I avoid doing (my job is to err on the side of the reader/customer, not the brand), you know? It’s not the only Illamasqua polish I’ve had trouble with in regards to consistency.
It looks absolutely stunning to me. If I were to buy it, I’d put thinner in it and see if it improved, because I can’t handle polishes that take too long to dry.
That’s definitely a good way to make it more workable!
